There were multiple CRUCIAL possessions down the stretch last night that he did not touch the ball. I am curious if this was by design or if he was just not simply making himself available. It is very simple... if EJ is on my team he better have a hand on the ball ever possession in the fourth quarter or the person that didn't give it to him is coming out. As you said before, there are very few times that he does not either score the ball or get an easy assist. It would be foolish for him not to touch the ball.

You act as if they are playing a bunch of irrelevant 1A schools. These are some of the most valued programs in the state of Kentucky. I know many schools that have 7-footers and missed the state tournament, it isn't that crazy.

This championship game will either be a make or break. Either he has it in him and will completely take over the game, or he just simply doesn't have the willpower to do so. I can't think of a much better motivator than 32 minutes of hardnose basketball to play at Rupp Arena. For example, he did this against Ryle, but only for a few minutes. There was a quick like 7 or 9 points stretch in the third quarter that helped decide the game, but why is it not utilized more often???

It was a genuine question. Where do you think he impacts the game most? He has D1 talent and a D1 body, but I never see it utilized to its full potential in high school games.

What a ball game! I had a feeling this one would be close, but a 2OT thriller was unexpected. Spencer County looks to pull off what many would call an upset Monday night for a chance to defend their title on Tuesday.

Where does he impact the game? I have had the pleasure of watching him the last couple of games and to be honest, he has not impressed me as much as expected. He is an average player on defense while standing at 6'8, he should average AT LEAST 3 blocks a game. Stats might prove otherwise, but I am not sure he has recorded a block within the last two contests. Rebounding wise, he gets MAYBE half of what he should. There is no reason he should not had 15-20 rebounds in a game like that, or the first round matchup against Ryle. Offensively, he does not assert himself. He is a very skilled, strong, and capable player of scoring 30 points a night. For example, late in that game he made a move up top and bullied his way right into the paint for an and-one. Why was this the only time all game that he made a move like this? Why did he not make more happen on the post where he spent a lot of his time? To be honest, it almost feels like the offense doesn't even run through him, which I have never seen happen with an SEC senior commit.

Just went to purchase my ticket on Ticketmaster... $21.15 after fees. Ridiculous, no one should EVER have to spend that much to watch two basketball games.

I think Great Crossing makes it borderline impossible to replace the legend. How do some of these kids not playing attend their other option to get some more playing time?

For the super-regional advocates... these scores would get even worse. For example, Harrison County defeated Robertson County in the district semifinals by 31 points. Imagine what Montgomery County would have done to them in the "Super Regional".

To cap off the quarterfinal games, we have an intriguing game. These two teams are coming from complete opposite ends of the spectrum. Henry County, who does not get to play on their home court in the postseason very often, will be hungry to make a statement that this young squad is here to stay for a few years. Spencer County, after having no talks of them repeating now are back in the tournament with a shot to defend their title. Henry County will be led by sophomore guard Baylor Nolin. If you have not had the chance to watch Nolin this year, expect to be impressed. Coming in averaging 24.5 ppg, he is looking for a huge game to keep his squad in this fight on their home court. Spencer County is led by the "Big 3"; Jack Armstrong, Samuel Samwright, and Jackson Combs. With all three of them averaging double figures, there should always be someone capable of scoring 20+.

I don't think there was a much better first round matchup possible. One of our contenders for the title will be knocked out tonight, and it is a toss up on who it might be. These teams met up earlier this year in Independence, Simon winning by 12. The Pioneers are led by senior guard Jay Bilton, averaging 11.8 ppg. Alongside him are some extremely disciplined and well-balanced roll players such as Jordan Bach and Bode Stone. The Pioneers can cause havoc on the defensive end, and I expect them to do just that tonight. South Oldham, as always, will have 5 sharpshooters on the court at all times. Of these sharpshooters, 8th Region POTY Julian Miles will lead the way. Only playing in one regional game in his career, Miles will be hungry to make a statement in his last shot at a regional title.

The Bearcats got up early and never looked back. Anderson went into the second half down double digits. Thanks to a few big shots and easy turnovers, they climbed right back cutting it to 5, but never advanced from that number. Walton-Verona looked very good and is the only team in the region to defeat North Oldham this year. We now have an exciting semi-final matchup coming on Monday night.

Also wouldn't be shocked with a game in the 30's, who knows what might happen.

To cap off night one we are blessed with what should be a phenomenal matchup. The definition of polar opposites, Walton, who loves to run-and-gun and score, points, then Anderson County, who will take good looks and control the tempo. Walton-Verona, in my opinion, has the best player in the tournament. Aaron Gutman is an absolute force, with a solid 6'7 (or so) frame, playing like a point guard and shooting 34.2% from behind the arc. Anderson County is led by a large group of seniors and one freshman. Senior Carson Sutherland is averaging 13.1 ppg while shooting 37% from three. Freshman Noah Beasley follows him with 10.7 ppg. Many people forget that the Bearcats were just 1 point from knocking off the soon-to-be 8th region champions, Spencer County in the semifinals of the tournament. Returning from that team is their best player, and they have found some great replacements for the seniors they lost from that team last season. Anderson County's last win in the regional tournament was in 2018, so they are more than due to make some noise in the tournament.

Well, after what feels like a month hiatus we are finally back in action tonight, tipping off with the losers of the 31st District, Gallatin County, and the winners of the 29th District, North Oldham. This one seems like it shouldn't be close whatsoever, but the Wildcats do have a group that is almost entirely seniors. When we get into regional play these kids are fighting for their basketball careers, sometimes leading to some contests being tighter than they should be. North Oldham is a 5 (sometimes 6) headed demon. While their leading scorer is freshman Austin Sears (15.9 ppg), they have a group full of roleplayers that all do their part resulting in some very even stat sheets. Most importantly, they are extremely disciplined and physical on defense, giving many teams troubles. Matthew Griffin will be someone to watch tonight, averaging 18.9 ppg and firing over 260 3-point attempts this year. This team will shoot a ton of 3-pointers, averaging 29 attempts per game, making 10 of those. It will take a great night from Griffin and his fellow seniors for them to have a shot tonight.

Heard through the grapevine that it was approximately. 30 million a piece for both Chase and Hendrickson, with Higgins being around 20 million. That is a TON of money being spent, and supposedly, there are parties not happy with these deals. If it gets much worse, it will be these three, Burrow, and a team full of practice squad bodies. One thing for certain, Crosby's deal was very hurtful to the chances of keeping Trey.
