The job was posted on the school website.  Steve Helton will not return.

Man.. what used to be the best job in the state.

The Late Great Billy Hicks knew what was on the horizon, with Great Crossing coming in, when he stepped down.  Then it's hard to replace a legend.

I think Great Crossing makes it borderline impossible to replace the legend. How do some of these kids not playing attend their other option to get some more playing time?

I agree. It befuddles me to see Scott County reduced to what they are now. Listen I'm a Grant County guy, and when Scott County was in our district, it was misery every year. But I had all the respect and admiration for Billy Hicks, and appreciated greatness when you got to personally see it.  He had that charisma about him, and when he made his appearance everyone knew.  I eventually think the newness of of Great Crossing will somewhat wear off, and Scott County will get the players. I'm certain this is still a top job.  it's hard to replace a legend for sure, but it's hard to replace the talent Scott County could get as well.

Will the "remodel" at Scott County change this any?

This job will be on the up tick soon. New facilities and GC is graduating that great class. If all the kids stay going to SC that are planned right now, the talent will sway back for red soon.

That is exactly what he said to me the year he was stepping down. He also said that along with Great Crossing that Frederick Douglass was only going to get better and he wasn't going to fight that he was going fishing. lol

They need to go young and hungry if they can't land a top notch veteran!

Need someone to bring back the "Red Heat" days.  Scott Co. was a feared program, and def. can be again!

Do they go outside the family or keep it within the Billy Hicks tree like all of the hires have been for basketball in boys and girls?

Might be time for a new look in Georgetown.

This!  I would empty it for Josh Cook at GRC, and make him say no.  Not saying he would, but he would be my first call.

Not happening.  Give up his job at GRC in the 10th for a rebuild in the 11th?

I think eventually Great Crossing and Scott County will balance out, now that Scott County has their new almost identical school building and facilities.

Didn’t say it would happen!  Just said, that’s my first call.
