  1. Mayfield is no question one of the toughest places to go win in the state, maybe the country. I've been there several times for games and its always a special place to watch a game and I'm happy this group gets to compete there. To make many of us feel old, no member of this team had been born the last time Metcalfe went to Mayfield 12-0 in 2003. Maybe it's fate that this team avenges that loss many years ago. I feel Metcalfe will be able to run the ball in this game. It comes down to Metcalfe needs to play mistake free and get a couple big plays on each side of the ball. It's possible and I'm excited for the trip. Go Hornets!
  2. I don't expect this to be a very high scoring game. Both teams will run the ball and keep the clock running. I believe 24-28 points will be enough to win the game.
  3. Looks like rain is very likely Friday night in Edmonton. I'd think that plays into Metcalfe's hands more since that could slow down Danville's speed.
  4. Danville does exactly what Metcalfe is built to do, run the ball. I think Metcalfe will be able to contain the speed of Danville and march on to the next round. Excited for a big time atmosphere in Edmonton Friday night. Safe travels.
  5. In my opinion, KCD is too low. They are a very solid football team.
  6. Metcalfe County (10-0) plays host to Washington County (3-7) Friday night in Edmonton in the first round of the 2A playoffs. On paper this seems to be a lopsided victory for the Hornets but that's why they play the game and no one should be overlooked in a one game scenario. The two teams share two common opponents: Adair County who Metcalfe beat 23-0 while Washington lost 24-20 and KCD who Metcalfe beat 29-28 while Washington lost 40-21. The Hornets are riding high after an undefeated regular season and I expect them to keep rolling Friday night and win relatively comfortably. Looking forward to the start of the playoffs. Safe travels to all making the trip Friday night.
  7. Metcalfe gets the shut out victory tonight to move to 8-0 for just the second time in school history. The offense was a bit sluggish tonight with penalties and a couple injuries that will hopefully be minor ones moving forward. The defense was dominant all night. All in all coming off a bye week and a big district matchup next week I’ll take a victory.
  8. Metcalfe County (7-0) hosts Adair County (2-5) Friday night in Edmonton. Both teams are coming off bye weeks for Fall break. Metcalfe’s last game was a 41-14 win over Monroe County, while Adair’s last game was a 55-12 loss to Glasgow. I think Metcalfe wins this game comfortably as long as they’re not looking ahead to next week. Thoughts?
  9. The Hornets got to a running clock at 41-0 early in the third quarter. Pretty good performance tonight with QB Estes back. Just the second time in school history starting 7-0.
  10. It was a stretch of about 8 minutes in the third quarter. Fc scored twice on third and long both times I believe. That was a very good Hornet group though.
  11. In 2007 metcalfe was the 3 seed in the district before avenging the two regular season losses to Glasgow and green county in the playoffs. The only other time metcalfe would’ve possibly been ranked this high would be 2003 where they started 12-0 before losing a heart breaker at Mayfield.
  12. Not sure what to think about this game. I think it will be high scoring and I tight one.
  13. Metcalfe County hosts Monroe County for homecoming Friday night in Edmonton. The Hornets are coming off a 39-22 victory over Edmonson County, while the Falcons are coming off a 30-0 loss to Todd County Central. Metcalfe is 6-0 for the first time since 2007 and looking to go 7-0 for the first time since 2003 and only the second time in school history. Monroe County is playing a bunch of talented youngsters much like Metcalfe did a few years ago. I look for Metcalfe to look sharp on homecoming and win big. Thoughts?
  14. Edmonson scored 3 times after the clock started to run. Another solid performance without starting QB Estes. Didn’t like how the second string played giving up so much but on to the next one.
