Metcalfe County vs. Monroe County Predictions/Updates

Featured Replies

Metcalfe County hosts Monroe County for homecoming Friday night in Edmonton. The Hornets are coming off a 39-22 victory over Edmonson County, while the Falcons are coming off a 30-0 loss to Todd County Central. Metcalfe is 6-0 for the first time since 2007 and looking to go 7-0 for the first time since 2003 and only the second time in school history. Monroe County is playing a bunch of talented youngsters much like Metcalfe did a few years ago. I look for Metcalfe to look sharp on homecoming and win big. Thoughts?

Run that clock again. Metcalfe big.

Metcalfe ranked #3 in most AP I've seen. What's the highest Metcalfe has ever been ranked? Now versus Monroe they gonna be a running clock before halftime. Keep grinding Hornets.

I remember they went to state semis back in the 2000s but not sure they were ever ranked that high because they turned on late that season. If I remember correctly they lost to Glasgow and maybe someone else in the district during the regular season then smoked everyone in the playoffs until they ran into Fort Campbell in the semis and played a close game but lost and then FC won the championship the next week.

In 2007 metcalfe was the 3 seed in the district before avenging the two regular season losses to Glasgow and green county in the playoffs. The only other time metcalfe would’ve possibly been ranked this high would be 2003 where they started 12-0 before losing a heart breaker at Mayfield.

I don't ever remember them being ranked higher then 5th in AP poll. Could be wrong about it as well. I do remember them years as far as scheduling alot of folks dropped metcalfe due to the struggling program from previous years. After the playoff run alot of teams wanted to add them back.  I'm not gonna say this team is anything like that year, but they are more improved then I expected. Metcalfe dosent have a ton of natural born talent, but they are coachable kids which shows this season Harbison has done a great job. They are most definitely gonna be a tough out come playoffs. There confidence is high. What they have going on is working.  Luke Meadows is a beast.

In 2007 they were as good as anyone in the state in AA. They lost a tough game by less than 10 to FC who went on to win the championship. I think what cost them the game against FC was lack of depth they had very few players and played about everyone both ways.

It was a stretch of about 8 minutes in the third quarter. Fc scored twice on third and long both times I believe. That was a very good Hornet group though.
