Belfry disrespecting Ashland before the game the players and fans might come back to bite them in the butt

JC better then Spring Valley debatable also, that would have been a heavy weight battle last season. All I’m saying is when Ashland plays physical and holds their own in the trenches they can play with the Belfry’s of the world.

Ashland played by far the better schedule last season and got ran out of Belfry. Throw the schedules out the window. This game comes down to Ashland punching back when Belfry punches them in the mouth. Tomcats do that they will have a great chance to Win this game.

Not sure who decides the music but the CATS always play good ball when this leads them down the stairs. IMG_0854.MOV

3 hours till kick and If I’m Ashland I’d get the ball in Garretts hands as much as possible. Pittman gotta bust a few big plays. Garrett should be playing QB IMO for this game. Maybe the Tomcats will throw a wrinkle or 2 at Belfry tonight. Ashland D is a base 4-3 pretty vanilla they tend to bend don’t break and try and keep everything in front of them. That didn’t work out very well last year against Belfry so I’m not sure what Tackett and company have planned for tonight. Maybe a 5 man front or a 4-4-3 which they had success when they upset JC a few years ago. Hopefully they have learned their base 4-3 didn’t work.

I used to help paint that field and played many games from JFL, Middle, and High school. It will be a sloppy mess by the start of the game after warmups unless this 63 degree day and full Sun can do some magic in the next 5 hours.

Not really a little drizzle a couple days Sunday Monday it’s warm and Sunny today. Field should be good at the start. Probably will get a little messy some as the game goes on. I’ll post a picture of the field here in a few.

One of the biggest hits I’ve seen live. That was last season against Knox Central on a punt return. That kid forget his name is the starting middle Linebacker this season. Video isn’t great but at the end of the play that’s the kids helmet not the football rolling backwards.

Well Putnam to be honest relies on volunteers to paint the field and for the Bermuda grass. For years Doug Childers from the late Ashland Green house took great care of the playing surface free of charge and the field is named after him . After his death I’m not sure who looked after it for 15 or 20 years. Luckily they have a retiree who used to be Head of Maintenance for UK when Commonwealth-Kroger Field had Bermuda. He does a excellent job with very little funds minus the 35k to 40k on water per year. I went by the field it’s definitely not as bad as some but in the worst shape I’ve ever seen. Honestly Ashland usually isn’t playing home games in Dec. it’s been 30 years since they won the region and doubtful they will have time or money to do much besides Mother Nature dry It out and throw sand around on the poor areas and play ball.

Congrats to Ashland’s Keontae Pittman, he has committed to Army today.

They returned 9 starters from last season and they are very very good. Problem is Covid wiped out games against very very good teams. They haven’t been tested all that much. If they would have done this against Wheelersburg, Ironton Ohio and George Washington and Spring Valley WVA they would be one of the best Ds Ashland ever fielded. They will be tested Friday.

Never seen Putnam Stadium that tore up as it was last night. Pulling hard for the Comets and Cats.

Game was never in doubt.

Ashland was and should be embarrassed from last seasons performance. Ashland has the #1 ranked D that returned 9 starters. They will need too be on their A game to beat Belfry. The field will be a huge factor as it was a pig pin last night and probably won’t improve much by game time. Ashland knows what Belfry is going to do question. Is can that match the physicality Belfry will bring? If Ashland can punch back I like their chances.

Belfry better not look past Bell County.
