I watched the game a second time. Male really had a problem trying to stop Devin Perry. They tried double-teaming him on inbounds plays. The had to resort to holding him, but that just ended up sending him to the free throw line. Male has a nice team, young, but good depth. They've only played a few games, so they should improve a lot in a couple of weeks. The Colts keep getting better each game. Three early losses, all close contests. One thing that is helping them is that their other players (besides Perry, & Kalle) are beginning to play with more confidence. If their 3-point shoot improves a bit, the Colts can be dangerous in the post season. It won't be easy, but they have a real shot.

I just heard that they made a change to DeSales basketball schedule. As part of the Will Harris Homes Winter Classic, DeSales will play Owensboro Catholic at 5:00 pm at Central Hardin. That could be a good one!

DeSales could be dangerous later in the season if they stay healthy and work to improve their outside shooting. If they can spread the floor a bit more with an outside threat, that will open up more space for Kalle & Robinson to score inside. The game against CAL tonight should be a good one. CAL is off to a good start. DeSales will play them again in their opening game of the LIT (if it gets played as scheduled).

Cov Cath has a really decent team. Good depth and aggressive press. They keep their hands very busy on Defense. I wouldn't be surprised if they make it to Rupp.

CC hits their free throws and wins 68-62. Colts really need to work on 3pt. shots and beating an aggressive press.

So far, CC has had a hard time dealing with Kalle. Kalle is much better than he was last year. He doesn't foul as much this year. If the Colts guards could learn to deal with CC's press & they can find the best way to feed Kalle then DeSales might have a chance. CC does look pretty good though!

Cov Cath 33 DeSales 30 - Halftime.

Maybe they're not ready for the top 20 yet, but keep an eye on Louisville DeSales this year. They lost to E-Town tonight 73-70. Sekou Kalle, 6'10' Sr. scored 24 points and 5'8" Sr. Devin Perry each scored 20 points. Soph. forward Keith Robinson also put up 12 points. They will play a tough schedule though, so their ranking might suffer some. Besides E-Town, the Colts are scheduled to play Bowling Green, Trinity, Cov Cath, Oldham Co. and Male. Tough schedule, but with their good size inside and decent guard play, they could be able to pull off an upset in the 6th Region.

CAL has a lot of weapons in their arsenal. They will be tough to beat. I think Mercer's coaching staff will have watched enough film to be prepared for CAL's passing game. CAL is missing one of their best receivers, but they still have several guys that can hurt you with a big play at times. The Titans need to be careful of the CAL running game too. They have some speed in the backfield and can break a big one at times. Mercer will need to get pressure on CAL's QB and really be on their toes every minute of the game. CAL has the capability of striking quickly. This ought to be a close one, and if it is, I suppose I'd give the nod to Mercer because of the home field advantage, but a CAL win would not surprise me either. Should be a good one to watch. I wonder if there will be a streaming broadcast.
