Colts intercept on 13 yl, but have difficulty running. Personal foul on CAL moves the Colts out to 30 YL. Deep pass by Scroggins goes to CAL 24 yl.

Both teams playing without key players. DeSales is without James Johnson their star running back, and CAL is missing 2 of their best receivers' Geren & Ballard (I think). They still have several very good receivers including RB Babin. And the CAL QB has a great arm.

CAL leads 7-0 at halftime. Colts defense keeping DeSales in the game, but they can't generate any offense. CAL's Babin is having a good strong running game and their QB Masters has come close on several long bombs. It looks like whoever makes the fewest 2nd half mistakes will win this one.

I'm not sure what CAL did wrong. They played 3 district opponents. Covid messed with their schedule a bit, but that happened to a lot of schools. DeSales only got to play 4 games because of it. I heard someone else talk about CAL "backing down", but I don't know what that means. One thing I'm pretty sure of is that their football team is very underrated. They have a lot of talent and should be very dangerous in the playoffs. That game against DeSales should be a tough game.

We should be better able to judge DeSales after Friday's game vs St. X. The Colts lost a close one to a very good LCA team. St. X is a tough 6A team and if the Colts can beat them or even play them very close, then I think they will earn their early favorite honors. I still wonder. I see need for improvement in several areas for the Colts. They do have a great coaching staff, and dedicated players, so maybe they can work out the kinks and live up to their ranking. Everybody seems to be writing off CAL in 2A. I think that's a mistake. They are a very dangerous team that can hurt you in a number of ways. Hopefully, the Colts will get to play them before the playoffs begin. That one could determine the favorite in 2A.

This will be a tough one, but I think the Colts can prevail. I predict a close one!

I'm going out on a limb and predicting an upset here. CAL is at home, and they have a multi-talented football team. Maybe they just looked that good last week because BE is down this year, but after watching the game I was impressed with the skilled personnel CAL has this year. Their new QB is quite good, and they have quite a few talented receivers to go along with him. I know that Boyle is one of the best football teams in the state, but I wonder if they might not take CAL a little bit lightly considering their down year last season. I haven't seen Boyle on film this year, but I'm sure they will be solid again. They will need to be when they play CAL. CAL can hurt you in so many ways & I think the team is beginning to get acclimated to their new coach. I know it's a long shot, but I'll pick CAL in a shoot-out. 35-28
