Ipsaro, Hussey and Castle are all excellent shooters. The Colts just couldn't defend them. If the Colts' #4 Klein had his usual shooting game it would have been a different story. But you know what they say about "Ifs"!! DeSales still has some time left to get things ironed out, so I haven't given up hope yet! Congrats to the Colonels and good luck the rest of the way!

The Colts came out at the beginning looking like world-beaters, but in the last 2 minutes of the 1st Quarter they went back to their old sloppy ways and allowed CC to get back in the game. The Colonels are a very good shooting team.

I would love to see the Colts pull of the upset, but I'm afraid Cov-Cath is just going to be too much for them to handle. In order to pull off the upset the Colts would have to have an outstanding night behind the arc, cut down on turnovers, and shoot at least 80% from the free-throw line. Possible, but not likely.

The Colts hung on for 3 Quarters (N-45 D-41), but alas, North Oldham took over in the fourth quarter. Final score was North Oldham 64 - DeSales 52. I wasn't able to attend so I don't have any other details. Road games continue to bedevil the Colts, it just gets harder this Friday when the Colts travel to Covington Catholic. Ouch! The best thing I can say about DeSales right now is that all of their losses came against good teams. Now they just have to start winning against some of these good teams. Better luck next time Colts!

I didn't get to see either the Doss game or the Butler game, but I suspect that you are correct in your assessment. Quick guards + "let-down" after an emotional win = looming disaster! Wise insights on your part.

Nice win against a tough team!

Yes they do, but they need to raise their game this week in two really tough road games. Tuesday they travel to North Oldham & Friday they travel to Covington Catholic, both excellent teams. The Colts will need to pack some of that "home" Mojo with them for these two games. I still think DeSales has some chance to pull off an upset, but they do have a lot of work to do to prove they can play with the big boys on the road! Maybe they can bring a bus load of those raucous fans from the "Danger Zone" (home student section) with them.

The Colts take a road trip to Butler on Thursday! Another tough district opponent. DeSales will need to bring their best effort to that game too. On Saturday the Colts face Christian Academy of Louisville at home before going on a really tough road week against North Oldham on the 31st & Covington Catholic on Feb 3rd. On Feb 4th we ought to be a little more certain just how good DeSales really is. I like their chances, but then I am kind of biased.

Wow! I always thought you did a very good job with your analyses. I had no idea you had to do 4 regions!! You ask "how did I do?" - Personally, I think you do a heck of a good job and I really appreciate your insights. I'm partial to DeSales because I taught there for 37 years, but I think you have a good point about some schools "having a history" with certain other schools. Even when you think your team has better personnel, those "certain teams" seem to have your number. Sometimes it even happens when there are changes in the coaches. This game tomorrow against Western should answer a few questions about the strength of the two squads! Should be fun to watch! Keep up the good work!

DeSales won a close one tonight against neighborhood (district 22 rival) Doss. This was the first of a six-game gauntlet the Colts will run over the next couple of weeks. On the 24th they will play Western (District 22 favorite) at home, then on the 26th they play Butler away another tough District 22 foe. On the 28th they step out of their District to play Arch-Rival Christian Academy of Louisville in a home game. Then they face a tough 2-game road trip to face North Oldham on the 28th, and Covington Catholic on Feb. 3rd. Whew!! Hopefully their cardio will be in primo shape for that stretch.

You're right about that! It just shows how balanced the scoring is on each of the top 5 teams. It's hard for an opponent to shut down a team defensively if they can't concentrate on one or two guys! Iroquois is the sleeper in the 22 district, but they will need someone else to produce points if Ford or Williamson have a bad night!

One correction. Unfortunately, DeSales lost to Calloway Co. 59-52. Calloway Co. went on to lose to Lexington Catholic in the Championship game 56-52. Thanks for the great analysis!
