I understand the intensity of high school rivalries, but I really don't care for the "hatred" sometimes encouraged by coaches and fans in these rivalry games against high school teams. When I was coaching soccer I tried my best to teach my players to treat all opponents with respect. I've seen parents and coaches become so irate at games that they were out of control. I also tried to convince my players that "hating" their rival would be likely to have an adverse effect on our own style of play. I tried to get them to be respectful of their opponent, but at the same time play with intensity, but keep their emotions under control in order to minimize costly mistakes, and more importantly, because it's the right way to treat other people. I like the fact that CAL & DeSales coaches gather the players from both teams at the end of the game for a post-game prayer. Even if you don't believe in prayer it helps to calm the emotions & fosters respect.

Wow! Congrats Lions! I knew by the way they dismantled DeSales that this was MUCH more than a one man team. They are very good!

I'm biased in favor of DeSales so I picked them to win. I do have some reservations though. The Colts must get a decent game from each of their starters & a little help from the bench. They've played so many games lately that they might be getting a little weary. And if Mr. Sixer is correct and the Jags football guys have returned to basketball form, the Colts could be in trouble. Rebounding has been an issue at times for DeSales. Plus they often rely on their "star" player a bit too much. He's very good, but a good team needs all 5 of the players on the court to contribute. I still think they have a good chance here, but it's certainly no sure thing. I'm hoping for a good game, good hustle, unselfish play, a bit of 3pt luck, and no injuries. There's still a lot of basketball to be played in the months ahead.

Do you remember the theme song to the TV show "Rawhide"? Roll 'em, Roll 'em, Roll 'em ... Well, that's what the Tigers have been doing this season!! Very Impressive.

My picks would be Harlan Co. in an upset. Trinity over Newport, Bowling Green over Fairdale, and Great Crossing over Little Rock Central in another close one!

Well, the Colts had better wear their "shooting sneakers" tomorrow!! Little Rock Central is big & quick!!

I hate paying $12 a month to use NFHS streaming service. Half of the time I can't get to see the games I want to watch. It is probably the worst streaming source in the country. I wish the KHSAA had a contract with something like PrepSpin. I can't get connected to see the game tonight.

The Colts are getting a lot more players involved in the scoring. Landon Thompson & Brady Cummins & Logan Tharp have all looked pretty sharp.

Next for the Colts is Kings (OH) in the Griffin Elite Classic on Sunday, and then on Tuesday the Colts meet up with Frederick Douglass in their opener of the King of the Bluegrass Tournament. Whew! Tough schedule!!

I would have to pick Holy Cross. I don't think Beth Haven has played anyone of the caliber of the Cougars yet. Warren Central was missing several of their key players in that early game. H.C.'s Jacob Hand is a legit scoring threat.

DeSales played in the 2A tournament last year, but are not listed this year. I'm not sure why.

I have no problem with the top 10 listed above. The order may be different, but the teams seem about right. I wonder how the list maker could not include DeSales anywhere on the list, even in the "others" category! That seems to me to be an oversight!.
