Bryan Station is not as bad a team as people think. Like some of the other Fayette County schools they lack numbers and any kind of commitment to the football program from the administration and in some cases coaching staff. They have some really nice players and would beat a lot of teams in the state if they didn't play a brutal schedule.

Not a believer of Manual at #7. I watched them scrimmage Tates Creek and the varsity finished 13-7 TC. That was before the Manual qb got hurt and they were still one dimensional and not very athletic. TC threw the ball very well against them and IMO was the better looking team. I know, I know, it was a scrimmage but you can still see what a team is working with.

So you're not a man and your weak if you don't fight? Grown men that are supposed to be leading and setting an example for young men by fighting like children. Cmon man. Toughness is doing things the right way, doing your best and giving 100% 100% of the time, controlling your emotions not letting others control them, on the football field it's doing your job, kicking someone's butt and being nasty within the rules, etc.. Fighting and swinging helmets, etc. is no different than children losing their temper and throwing toys. Not saying the coaches should be fired or the players suspended but equating fighting and this behavior to being a man and not being weak is just a load of crap.

Ballard at Mercer....why?

Debatable on the schedule. Eye test to me says FD is better and it's not that close.

Another part of the story that has not been mentioned from the Ryle game is that the Ryle running back Kyle England had 148 yards on 14 carries before he went out with an injury in the 2nd quarter. Also, Catholic's running game is suspect at best. Should be an interesting game.

Allen is obviously outstanding but I just watched the game and man were those receivers wide open. LCA is no where near the team that smacked Catholic last season. In my opinion Catholic is about the same team as last season except they don't have a running game. The difference is the competition they have played so far has been down. Time will tell but I just feel like their weaknesses will be exposed soon.

This unfortunately will not go well for Paintsville. Too much everything on FD for them to handle. If they play perfect they may avoid a running clock until the 2nd half.

Danville should never complain about or even question officiating. Reference last seasons homecoming game against Tates Creek. More home cookin than dinner at Granny's. Congratulations Corbin.

Fishback looked really good. The big qb had great stats but was unimpressive in my opinion. He threw short passes that the receivers turned into big gains or he just threw the ball up for grabs and his receivers came down with it. He was never pressured and never had to make a difficult throw. Good line play on both sides of the ball, lots of speed and receivers that attack the ball is what stood out to me. Tates Creek never gave themselves a chance to be competitive. They had three botched snaps on punts and 2 fumbles in the first half that gave the ball to FD in side the TC 25 yd line.

Again, it's just a guess but I can't imagine that this is his dream job. Highly motivated people, which he seems to be, typically seek the next challenge. I would add that there seems to be a lot of smoke around the program....and you know what they say about smoke. Also, he was never an OC, he has been a position coach and quality control.

Oh, I didn't realize you were talking about academics I thought this was about sports/football. I am confident that the school that is the topic of this thread is not attracting transfers because of test scores.

Ram, sounds good in theory but it doesn't work that way in reality.

He's the catalyst and a big part of it but there's a whole lot more than that to it. My guess is it's a stepping stone for him but that's just a guess.

Scott County will win by as much as they choose to.

"Destination school"? Is Lexington open enrollment? Of course I am being sarcastic. Lafayette was the destination school just a couple years ago....how quickly things change.

Talent is not the issue in Lexington. There's plenty of talent and with the transfers (10 this year that I am aware of) from Lexington and other parts of the state, the talent is more concentrated at Frederick Douglas. For whatever reason Douglas is the "chosen one" for Lexington football. They are shiny and new with great facilities, and more resources than any other Lexington public school. The plan as the school was being developed was to build a football program in Lexington to contend for state titles and create a show piece for FCPS. The administration, teachers and coaching staff were assembled with that in mind. With a little research you can find a "football" connection and relationships that existed prior to the schools existence. The ties do not stop within the walls of the school they extend to the central office and the Fayette County AD. Concentration of talent, excellent facilities, more resources, connected administration (in side and outside the building) that works with the coaching staff toward a common goal, best and hardest working coaching staff in Lexington, majority of coaching staff that works in the building, etc.. This coupled with the dilution of some of the talent and numbers at the other schools in Lexington has led to FD's rapid rise to the top in Lexington and a challenger for a higher ranking in the state.
