The freshman from NCC Iles has impressed me so far. Mullikin has been a pleasant surprise and putting up huge numbers. -

Congratulations to John and his family. Great accomplishment! -
Going to be a great tournament. Interesting facts- NCC has beaten St. Henry 3 times this year. St. Henry has beaten Covcath. Webster for Ryle can beat anyone. Beechwood/Cooper is a great matchup! See you Monday! Going to be fun to watch! Go Tigers!!

No one was ejected. Covcath students were asked to move a couple of times by the umpires. Beechwood needs to beat HC next week to solidify the top seed in the district. -

Tigers withstand a huge Colonel comeback and win 8-5 to go 2-0 on the season. Nick Jackman gets the win, Clay Trusty with the save. Tigers will battle LaSalle tomorrow at home.

Good ballgame. 3-3 through 4 1/2. Tigers broke it open in the 5th. Solid pitching & defense from both teams. Berger and Johnson with big shots in the 5th. Carter Noah was sensational in relief.

Highlands/Beechwood Scrimmage
Tigerpride14 replied to Basement Barbers's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Both teams threw 8-10 pitchers, roster batted. I don't remember seeing one bunt. Saw some nice pitchers but Drew Rom is the real deal. Both teams are solid. -

9th Region Rankings (2018)
Tigerpride14 replied to Basement Barbers's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
There are some really good teams this year in the 9th Region. The top of the list is Highlands until someone knocks them off. Cooper, Covcath, St. Henry, Beechwood, Ryle and Dixie will all be contenders. Obviously, no one has the staff that Highlands has but baseball is a long season and crazy things can happen. -
Coach Gray Taking advantage of the new Beechwood Digs
Tigerpride14 replied to Geek61's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
They had a few seniors quit during conditioning. Saw the writing on the wall with playing time. Beechwood has a very strong Junior and Sophomore class. One was working and missed a ton of time with work. Coach Gray and his staff met with each of them individually to make sure it was nothing to do with them. One said the conditioning and practices were too hard, he likes to do his own thing and doesn't like the structure. The others wanted to work more and didn't want to put that much time in to baseball. It's a culture change for the boys of Beechwood for sure. Kids will be held accountable and work hard, seems to work pretty well for Coach Rash and the football team.
