We can all speculate all we want, but the truth of the matter is that no one really knows what happened but the diocese, the school and Scott. Interestingly enough, we have heard from none of them. Until one of these parties breaks their silence, if that is even allowed, we will never know. And honestly, I'm okay with that. I still like Scott, and I still like the school, but the diocese I have struggled with for the past two decades.

I'll take a stab at explaining this. I'm four years removed from the CYF program as well as my kids didn't start CYF until the 8th grade, so somethings may have changed since then or "old man memory" might sometimes distort reality. The 6th grade team plays in the GCYL, the 7th grade team plays in the Northern KY league and the 8th grade team plays in the GCYL league. I never got a great answer why they leave the GCYL for a year then come back the following but I'm sure there is reasoning for that. In addition to those three teams, if they have an abundance of players at those grade levels, they may combine two grades (6-7 or 7-8) that have kids that might not get as many reps for what I would call unofficial but official games. I don't think this happens every year, but I have seen it a couple of times. The games don't necessarily count towards an official record, but they are real games with officials and scoreboards. The kids practiced with their respective grade level teams and the schedule was rather hit or miss as to when or who the competition was. As a parent of a kid who played on one of these "combo teams" I really appreciated the effort the coaches made in getting a few extra games for kids who needed a little extra development because they didn't see the field as much in the regular games.

Could be an interesting game. Last year's game got very chippy. I expect the same this year.
