One of the worst things to be in high school bball is a "big guy": unless you simply just buy in to playing defense and rebounding. The high school game (in Kentucky) in essence eliminates the effectiveness of the big guy by spreading the floor with scorers and shooters. What happens is fans of yester year continually complain about getting the ball inside and the coach has to constantly answer questions as to why he isn't using the "big guy". It starts to erode at the team, and chemistry and cohesiveness is shook. The "big guy" on the offensive end is a dinosaur in Kentucky high school ball. Big Z and Big Jake as well from Cov Cath fall into this category. As for this game; I don't know if offensive scoring was the issue. If Niece had 37, that's enough scoring for two people....sounds like defense was the issue tonight.

Central did play without Gavin George (suspended) and he is their top playmaker with the ball. Still a good win for Adair

Yeah if Aiden and Coach T didn't prepare for it; it can really be difficult to get him involved, and they certainly need him to be involved

I guess it was kinda what i was alluding to: Matthews is a very good player, Apollo will probably meet other teams ready to attack the box and one.

The fact that they played box and one on Matthews says a lot about him, but more about his teammates. Generally the coach didn't think his teammates could do enough to win. If Matthews and/or Meade hadn't seen this at all this year then it is difficult to adjust to on the fly. Interesting move by Apollo. it may have been a good call against Meade but I don't know if this says much about Apollo's confidence in their abilities to defend moving forward.

I've never seen it this bad. I understand that it's a difficult job and all but this year has been awful. I know people say that officiating doesn't win or lose a game......but hey go tell that to Bryce and his teammates.

Pearson and Wright score 19 apiece. Matthews chips in 16 John Hardin led 82-33 after 3 qtrs. Next up is Cville. Howard was bothered by the Bulldogs length.

Did BG do anything different defensively to Potter in the last match up? Just kinda surprised that he only scored 10 points in that game.

I'm assuming that they are assuming Zion is coming back to Adair next year.

Matthews had a really good year. Congrats to him for all his hard work.

If anyone other than Apollo or OC comes out of the 3rd; it will be a very ugly 1st round game at state against the 9th.

Do you think Taylor is piping the shots down due to the Mr. Basketball voting being done at this time. Seemed like he was out to prove something after the incident

Probably best draw possible for JH. It's playoff basketball though, anything can happen....I've watched JH sleep walk through some games that should not have been remotely close.

I agree. Playoffs are so intense and so.e kids can't handle the pressure of every possession counts. It makes for weird and crazy finishes sometimes

Larue is a different team since John played them earlier. I'm sure Childress learned some things. As far as Adair, I'd like to see John play them away from Adair.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion....you certainly have that right. Different doesn't necessarily mean bad or worse, it's just a different way. As for the game, it seemed emotionally that CH gave it all against etown. They couldn't match John's intensity. Hobbs again played well in the loss. It's playoff bball, against a rival school. Kids show emotion. Mickey typically doesn't finger point or stare after dunks, I haven't seen the replay yet. He had 3 of the 6 dunks....so you're probably wrong on that account. Malik Wright had 2 dunks and he is a firecracker, so he may have said things to the student section that was heckling him and Mickey all night. It's emotions during a game. I don't think any of our kids did anything unsportsmanlike to a fan of Central. I personally know all those kids and they shouldn't be framed and labeled like you're doing.

Good kids, they played with alot of emotion. They may have done some things borderline. What exactly did you have issue with?

Central plays John Hardin for the 17th district title tonight at 7. They very well may win it, but they haven't as of yet.

Mickey Pearson plays in the 5th region and they have allowed the region to mug and maul him all year long so they may swallow their whistle for you guys as well.

Is there sarcasm in this thread? If Kelch had 18 and 16 then the post defense wasn't good. Also bad shooting or good defense.....guess it depends on the lens you see it from

Agreed. Plus it's the tournament and Central just plays like dogs in that gym

Central doesn't match up well with JH.....BUT if Hobbs plays like he did last night it will be a close game. The first two matchups Hobbs was almost non existent. I was really impressed with his performance last night.

I like most others also have a bias towards a particular player as well. I've seen Trevon play many games and there is nothing about watching him play that you would not love. He has really good season numbers and his impact on the Mercer County program is impeccable. But I could say that about 3 or 4 more guys in the 2018 class, and to me that is the issue I have with Mr. Basketball this year. I would not have one issue with Trevon being selected Mr. Basketball, but this award was given to him probably by the end of his sophomore season and I don't think there was anything any other person in the 2018 class could do about it. He is a wonderful kid and a superb basketball player absolutely worthy of Mr. Basketball.
