  1. Very nice to hear. She could be a steal for the Cumberlands if she dedicates herself. I understand she is a very young SR so she still has the potential for a lot of growth
  2. You just totally contradicted yourself with post 143 and 145. The point I have been trying to make is that he should have been on their radar. That is a miss. Period. If he was on their radar then he may of had a scholarship available or at least some conversations. I find it hard to believe be a coaching staff does not recognize a kid that talented 5 minutes from their campus. That's a little alarming for me regarding NKU staff Does NKU have anyone committed for 2018? Weird if they do. See how that works? This is in no way a shot at any 2018 commitment. Just sayin
  3. I will also say this.... if the staff is not doing a better job of kicking over every rock to find the hidden gems. They may be in for a rude awakening in a few years. That's why I'm astonished they didn't notice this kid 5 minutes from their house
  4. Absolutely Jakes performance was better than Hawkins. I will even say that Jake is a a better player at the same point in their careers
  5. I agree regarding the staff. I do find it more entertaining to have the history of the local kids and how they stack up at next level. If I want to watch high level ball then I'm at UC, XAVIER or UK But in the end it's all about $$$$ so your u better put butts in the seats
  6. Local colleges..... I'm not buying the "no scholarship available" comment because this kid should have been on their radar last year. He was not All this does for the Norse now is put tremendous preassure on the coaching staff. If Jake goes on to have a successful career at WKU and NKU falters and ticket sales aren't where they should be, then questions should be asked about their recruiting practices. Maybe this works out for all I can tell you this much, Jake is fun to watch and I would have been at NKU to watch just as I do the other local boys on the roster now. Without that local connection, I don't have an interest. I'll stay home and watch UK I think that's the danger for NKU.
  7. I think it's a fair question to ask where those coaches were.... with the amount of money spent in recruiting I find it astonishing that no program really took interest in Jake or did a cursory check to see what his numbers are about. If I'm an AD at the local schools and my program has been marginable or struggling at the gate, I have a coaching staff that has some explaining to do.
  8. What year were these purchases made? I believe at least one of the larger purchases was in 2005. So the Russians knew to try and buy Donald Trump off because he would be President in 2017? I'm more worried about the DIRECT buy off from Foreign Countries thru the Clinton Foundation. Where is the outrage?
  9. The stats posted above are mind boggling when you consider that he was also getting everyone's best defensive assignment.....or 2 and sometimes 3. WOW! I've watched many stellar performances in the sweet 16 over the years and he is certainly up there as one of the best shows Question that kept popping in my mind though. Of the former U.K. homegrown players where does he rank in performances against them in the sweet 16?
  10. Can you point out exactly what's incorrect in this article? I know first hand that several mines have restarted due to the deregulations. I also have a family member that has complained for years of how the federal government has defined a stream to regulate mines ( he is a democrat and thought it was underhanded by Obama administration). I can also tell you that several mine owners haven't reopened their mines because their is no market for the coal. Glad to hear one of the avenues pointed out is the production of steel. Remember the "tax" he put on power plants and forced them to convert to natural gas? I think president obamas's exact word were " I may not be able to stop them from mining coal, but I can make it where it is not affordable". Well if it put food on your table and your president made it impossible to do so.... then I think you would remember. I've read the article twice and I can tell you from first hand experience that it is correct. Please tell me what you think is incorrect?
  11. Cooper playing extremly well. Hoping to see 2 NKY teams playing Sunday. Tough semi- final game coming though
  12. I agree with the catching fire part. This time of year you never know. If Scott gets off to a great start again then you may have some 16 / 17 year old boys from BG start to panic. That can make it anyone's game
  13. I stand with my statement. If you are unaware, haven't heard of or surprised by a kid averaging 28 pts , 8 rebs and shooting 53% from the field, then you simply aren't paying attention to the state If you think it's a kid with embellished numbers, then again, you aren't paying attention Now days it's very easy to find what certain kids are doing from around the state with the technology we have at our disposal
  14. BG is def the favorite but Jake can make their life miserable. I also don't think everyone is giving credit to the rest of the team. All the kids can play. When you have someone of Jakes unique ability, he is going to give you trouble. If he doesn't get into foul trouble then this game could be more entertaining than you think. But to think you can just shut him down is a death blow for any team that believes that
  15. If Jake was a surprise to anyone before the tournament then they don't pay a whole lot of attention to begin with or they have blinders on for their specific area
  16. Like every game you play, better be prepared or you go home early. However, cooper controls their own destiny in this one
  17. Scott will man up and has to preassure the pcc guards and not allow them to sit back and have clean looks to their bigs. The few games I have seen Scott play they did press. Sometimes, what I call a token no preassure type of press ( which did nothing for either team and will get Scott killed against pcc), the other is a man preassure. I suspect they don't play preassure man a lot due to their bench depth but they can be lethal when they do. Expect them to run, run, run and pcc had better pay attention with their transisition D or they will get ran out of the gym
  18. I whole hearted agree that the officials didn't win or lose the game I do sometimes wonder how 3 officials do miss blatant calls Their were multiple illegal screens in the open floor and blatant walks created by traps that went uncalled. I always wonder if they are afraid to make that call or what. I just can't believe they don't see it I also don't understand the call at the end. I wasn't in a great position but looked like a lot of ball. To me if you can't call the obvious moving screens then that call shouldn't be made and let it be decided in OT
  19. Well, I'm not far behind you in age I guess. But I'm confused on the coaching comment. Their coaches have impeccable resume's and if the kids don't understand their system by now then they have some challenges. For all the years I've watched the program they haven't changed a lot up so I find it hard to believe they don't know what is expected Helps if you play the best 5 players? What changes do you make? One kid sitting on the bench was lost all night defensively and had to go the bench and they also rotated 8 - 10 deep. I think that gave everyone to make an impact and they had the ones playing the best in the end. Sometimes you have to make matchup changes. Needed a guard to chace their little guard letting the air out of the ball. Your other two guards def needed in the game.
  20. Don't want to get into this..... just one question. Rcc9 were you st the game or the earlier game when the two teams played?
  21. I can't speak for the coaches and I agree that they probably want to keep things normal. However, Kenton county is not giving them much support or the kids. See the comments regarding Scotts boys team. I guarantee you that coach doesn't want them to drive back and forth.
  22. I think it has an impact no matter what level you are playing. For the girls, i def think the length of court impacts timing on fast breaks, conditioning, shooting and possibly spacing. Legs can get a little heavier especially as you start playing multiple days. Sight lines are huge and I think most shots are made from muscle memory. In NCAA tournaments I've always felt the large domes greatly impacts shooting I have also noticed some teams seem to counter some of this by running an offense that forces ( I don't believe you should ever help out of the strong side corner) help from defenders guarding the corner. The sight lines are much better from the corners and you see a higher percentage made
  23. I'm glad to see it looks like their is a change happening. The Kenton schools just don't seem to be fiscally responsible. Meaning, in my eyes, we are to top heavy in central office and with 'educational' trips for the superintendent. I guess we have to squeeze every last penny so the students and community end up getting short changed At least that's an impression I have Really can't let Scotts boys stay in Lexington. That is so sad
