I never understood the (score) confusion, short of just not knowing how soccer records the score in a game decided by penalty kicks (pks). If you don't know how this is done why make a snide remark? If a soccer game is tied after regulation, and overtime if that is how the tournament was set up, (some tournaments do not add an overtime, they go straight to pks) they go to pks to decide the winner. The official score is recorded by adding one goal to the teams that wins in pks. The score of this game at the end of regulation (80 minutes) was 1-1. No OT, they went straight to pks, Ballard made 4 pks, Bishop made 2 pks. The official score is then recorded as a 2-1 win for Ballard, exactly as posted on this thread.

Thursday's games were cancelled due to weather, these games were decided by a coin flip. Schedule for Saturday, 8/19, all games @ CCH. St Henry Vs Lex Cath, 1PM Bishop Brossart Vs KY Country Day, 3PM CCH Vs Ballard, 5PM ECentral IN Vs Oldham Co, 7PM.

Not a physical game IMO. Emotional, no more then a normal HS game played between two non rivals. Both teams looked tired the last 10 minutes or so which caused the quality of play to drop off. Not sure why the fatigue, it was the second game of the night, starting around 8PM so heat should not have been a big issue. Both coaches did a good job of rotating players on and off the field and it is very early in the season. Mention this to give you a feel for the game. Have no idea whats up with the deletions, the game was well played by both teams, don't remember any major issues during the game.

Not one of the Colonels better outings. They gave up the lone goal of the game around the 32 minute on a handball in the box/pk. EC puts 10 players behind the ball and holds on for the victory. Congrats to EC on the victory. CCH going through some growing pains. 3 starters out (2 injured), another starter goes out injured early in the second half and one good player has yet to play this season. Its early so, once they get healthy, figure some things out (potential position changes, etc) and settle in I think they will be fine and develop into a very tough team to beat. This is not unusual, went through similar situations last season on their way to State runner up.

Nice win for Cooper, saw Walton Verona play in Soccerama, they play a very nice style of soccer. Hats off to the WV coach for staying true to his system, hopefully it'll pay off come October. Fan of Boles, could be the top keeper in NKY his senior year.

That's bold on your part gp considering your 2-2 predition for Monday's first round game, but I like it! I went with a 3-0 prediction on Monday, may have held up if not for help from the AR. 3-0 sounds right again but feeling bit different "circumstances" tonight will produce a 3-1CCH win. Will go big and predict a CCH Vs Ballard final on Saturday. Ballard Vs Oldham should be a good one on Thursday.

My intel only said "EC strength is their defense", nothing more, no mention of individual players, tactical alignment, etc. Assume both staffs scouted each other, another fun part of watching the game, seeing how one staff tries to take something away, counters another's tactical decisions. I should say this is the aged out age to attend school. To play a sport it may be younger.

Is the correct AR mechanics in this situation to watch the play evolve, watch the goal scored then stand in your position, instead of running up the line to the top of the 18? This should signal the center ref, "we need to talk."

Pretty dominate performance by CCH, thought it could have been 7-0. But totally agree CCH has a lot of work to do. Midfield was non existent first half and a few to many players only look to go forward. As I expected St Henry had trouble with the speed of play, they also really struggled defensively.

Early season HS soccer rankings are just below a guess. Until these top 20 teams start playing each other and teams begin to settle into their set starters and rotations off the bench will the ranking have some meaning. Heard Collegiate had no problem with Ryle in a scrimmage, are they down? St X, Ballard, N Oldham are a few rumoured to be good out of Louisville. This week's Colonel Cup will be a good early test for those 8 teams, who ever wins it will have earned it by beating 3 tough opponents.

Did any other team attempt to warm up on the turf field? Did any other team take their players from the field with their equipment and put them back on their bus...before their game started? Based on post #19, SK did both of these two things?

Based on seeing these 2 teams play in Soccerama, CCH 3- St Henry 0. I think speed of play will play a factor, I didn't see a lot of speed/quickness in the St Henry/ Pendleton Co game.

Did you hear these comments from the SK coach or is it from 2nd, 3rd etc hand knowledge? If true this is ridiculous. Embarrassed his players, school and sends a horrible message to his players. Soccerama games not the best judge of how good teams will be, with that said, HHS 2- W Clermont 1 is very surprising based on comments about W Clermont not going to be good this year.
