Not taking either side here, but IMO training and studying means nothing. Much like reading a drivers manual doesn't make you a good driver. I see so many officials who haven't played a single game of organized basketball in their entire life and their ability to analyze and understand the flow of a basketball game is affected by that. Memorizing rules doesn't make you a good official. Also, somebody mentioned something about an official needing to realize nobody is here to watch him/her. AMEN!! I swear some of the officials LIVE for their big block/charge call to fuel/end a run. Sounds like i'm hating on all referees, but I assure you that is not the case. I have a lot of respect for those guys going out there knowing that they will be berated the entire game. Just some can be extremely frustrating.

Cake walk compared to Mercer's. Of Mercer's 6 losses, 5 were ranked in the top 25... NATIONALLY. The other loss was to Strafford (#1 ranked team in MO). St. John's College (DC) beat us on a last second shot and was later named the #1 team in the country (maxpreps). Mercer has beaten 3 of those teams by an average of 14.6 pts. So to answer the question of "Has anybody played a tougher schedule than CC?" Yes.. Mercer has. To put things into perspective, if I were to make a "Look how tough our schedule is" list.. Campbell Co would not even make the cut. Mercer Co also has officials that single handily give their home team 60 points in a half.

Pulaski will fall apart. Not enough balls to go around for a team who plays individual basketball. Bicker and argue the entire game. Gover one of my favorite to watch in the 12th. Still not counting out my Titans though! Faulkner is due 40 on any given night and those seniors are wayyyy underrated! Got lost in the mix the past couple seasons and just now seeing significant varsity clock.

Man you are struggling to find a good excuse as to why these small town homegrown girls whipped your tail. I'm sure it's because they have a nice gym and only one school in the county of 20,000 w/ total enrollment of somewhere around 650. Actually pretty embarrassing this town produces more than Campbell... :idunno:

I don't see how this would help? Not NCAA or NBA where they can go back and review. The only way this would help is if the official is watching the ball in the air and not when it leaves the players hand, which would cause for an inaccurate call. Can't look at the player shooting and the backboard at the same time.

Yeah I get that, but I just don't like it.. Especially on a floater/runner. I could understand with my hypothetical scenarios (shooting to regain my dribble) I mean it's fairly obvious that it wasn't a real shot. However, if I had known this rule when I played I might have shot some air ball floaters to penetrate without having to dribble through traffic... worked for the girl a few weeks ago lol

This happened during an intense game a few weeks ago. A girl shot a runner from a couple steps outside of the free throw line and (without breaking stride) caught the ball (airball.. touched nothing at all) and shot a layup. Our coach goes bananas asking for a walk call and the official tells him that as long as it is a legit shot, she can grab her own rebound regardless of whether or not the ball touches anybody or anything.. I don't understand how one could justify whether or not it was a legit shot. Maybe she was trying to make a post entry pass while on the run? Sounds crazy I know, but who is to decide whether she was or wasn't? Let's say I pick up my dribble under the opposite rim and "shoot" the ball to half court to regain my dribble. Who is to tell me this wasn't a legit shot?? Maybe I don't have the strength to get it to the opposite rim.. Please help me out with this one...

Lincoln is too small and out dated. Gym gets about 100 degrees and people standing up everywhere during semi final & championship. Mercer's gym HAS to be in the talk for being added to the rotation. Such a waste of gym if it isn't. I'm not sure that I have ever seen that gym filled since it was built...

They play good, fundamental basketball. Have for as long as I can remember. However, take them out of that gym and it's a different basketball game. Unfortunately for everyone else in 12th region... Lincoln Co will host the regional tourney this year. Dangerous team.

Campbell Co fans were about as obnoxious as I've seen in a while. EVERY call was a bad call. I can assure you that the foul count had nothing to do with Mercer dropping 60 in the first half.

Simple actually.. When one team adjusts to the way the game is being called and one refuses to. Also, I would assume nearly half of these free throws were taken by Faith Lake who was attacking the rim HARD trying to reach her 1,000 point mark.

Simply a bad night for Mercer... Okay an AWFUL night. However, this same Mercer team just beat a #19 nationally ranked St. Francis (GA), #11 Argyle (TX) and had #10 St. John's (D.C) right where they wanted them before giving up a last-second shot.. These two teams featured a few of the best guards in the nation including Maya Dodson, Stanford commit and the #11 overall player and #2 wing in the class of 2017. Mercer is plenty good. They lose there first in-state game to girls basketball power house and #1 ranked Butler and suddenly they're not as good as they think. All great teams have bad nights.
