I don't know what last year has anything to do with the year coming up, but Spencer County has some of the top young talent in the state. If you go through the region and look at what other teams are losing and Spencer has coming back they are top three in the region. Actually, they are number one in returning scoring and experience. Do some research and you might be surprised. Have a nice day.

In 8th Region--I would say Spencer County and Collins. Based on who is returning and what teams are losing these would be the top two teams. I'm hearing of a transfer that is more than likely coming to Spencer County that would make them the 8th region favorite.

I can't see him leaving the talented freshmen of Darius Washington, Jaden Rogers, and Devean Franklin unless they find some way to transfer to Male. Which would seem illegal.

Outofbounds--you hit the nail on the head!! High school basketball follows the formula you just mentioned. Size can actually be a problem when defending teams like South Oldham.

Not sure, just hearing rumors. You know how that goes. Gaither at Collins put it out on Twitter. He has since deleted it.

At least that's a rumor I'm hearing.

Collins and Spencer County have both been invited and accepted to the King of the Bluegrass next year.

I know of a couple that could happen. Until I know for sure I'm not going to put it out there. For a couple of teams.

I would have to disagree with what you said a little. You may not care about total points returning, but that is a commodity that has already been established for a whole year not something your looking to develop. On another note--Spencer County had a freshman that tore it up on the JV level and was in the main rotation on varsity--Lucas Hornback. He has improved dramatically in the last month. Working out with weights to get stronger. He looks like a different kid. He will open some eyes on the AAU circuit this summer. I will be anxious to see how much the three very good freshman for Spencer County improve over the summer. Conley is playing for the Louisville Magic. Whitlock and Hornback will be playing with the Louisville Prospects. They are all hitting the weights hard and skill training 4 days a week. I feel like Collins, Spencer, and Gallatin will be the top three.

I looked at returning scoring for the top 9 teams from this year and it shows me that this region will be way down next year as far as experienced talent. The 8th region loses alot of veteran stars and some teams that have been historically at the top may slip some. Transfers and improving players can always change things. North Oldham and Anderson County taking the biggest hits. Oldham county losing a lot. Tommy2tone-- You have been whining about Conley leaving for two years. It's time to get over it and move on. The past two years Drury has had the upper hand with a team loaded with upperclassmen and he has gone 2-2 against Burns. I believe Collins just got handled by Anderson also.

Polar Bear, Not quite sure what you are saying. I simply said that Conley and Whitlock are ranked on several websites in the top 25 for the 2021 class. They played the past two years on the top AAU team in Kentucky and were seen by many recruiting services and played all over the United States. Just letting you know where they stand now. Nobody knows the future. Someone earlier commented that Spencer County was just Conley and no one else which is ridiculous. Jackson Cole is a top 5 three point shooter in Kentucky. Jacob Seawright brings a double digit average and a top three point shooter also. I guarantee you most coaches in the 8th region know that Spencer County has a little more than just Conley.

That's funny. Burns wouldn't give them a sniff. Anyway, if you go through the top 7 teams in the region the traditional powers are losing ALOT. Spencer County actually has the most returning scoring in the region. It will be Collins, Spencer, and Gallatin next year.

I will just say it is hard to play other teams in the region when they refuse to schedule you. All I'm going to say about that.

Tommy2tone- You are correct on Conley--he would have stayed if Couch had stayed, but your post made it sound like Shelby County was a pipeline for Spencer County's success which is not true. I don't understand your comment about Collin's sophomores? Those 3 sophomores are awesome. Never said anything about Collins, but you do realize we are comparing freshmen and sophomores. Collins and Spencer will have some battles over the next two years that is for sure.

Have you been to any games??? I would assume not. Conley got screwed out of all region team. Had better stats than 5 of the kids on the all region team and was Spencer County's best player. Spencer County was in the top 6 to 7 teams. That's one Freshman. The freshman starting point guard Whitlock averaged near 9 points with a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio. Both of those kids are ranked top 25 on most lists for the 2021 class in the state. And finally, Lucas Hornback another freshman tore it up on the JV level and was a big contributor on varsity as a freshman (in the main rotation. I would say that their freshman class is pretty good. And you never know about transfers.

Spencer has one player from Shelby County. The other young talent is home grown.

Two top teams had to play each other early unfortunately. They have been the top two teams in my eyes all year long.

19 fouls shots for Anderson and Spencer 7 for an entire game and Anderson is the physical aggressive team. Coke had two fouls before the first time out. Worst thing that could have happened to Spencer County. Water under the bridge, but it is something to talk about.

Confused as to your comment about the middle school talent. I would say there is more talent in grades 6-8 across the board than at anytime in the history of Spencer County. They have an 8th grade big guy dunking right now. So he would be in the class behind Conley,Whitock, Hornback. Enough about Spencer County. Our season is over and enjoy looking forward to the years to come. Watch out for Anderson County--they could be a spoiler team in the region for some teams this year.
