If a team wants to play keep away from me, they’re going to have to navigate five second calls. If they can do that, they obviously take care of the ball, and probably deserve to beat me anyway. But I’ll not sit in a 2-3 and let a team hold the ball on their hip. I’d prefer to get blown out forcing the issue over letting a team nurse a ten-point lead, but as previously mentioned, a disciplined pressure defense should be able to keep me in the game. I don’t like stalling. At all. I think going from an attacking offense for 3.5 quarters, then trying to slow it to a halt the last four minutes is problematic. I think Scott County tried pumping the brakes a little too early Sunday and paid the price due to Trinity’s solid defense. A team like Walton, which plays at a slower pace (when they aren’t scoring off turnovers), and plays tough defense, can have some success with it, but I’d never advocate for it. Just as I’d never advocate for a shot clock.

Can someone explain to me what a Sunday finals has to do with Wednesday/Thursday attendance?

Rassman is a regional POY candidate. You heard it here first. Lots of talent and hustle at JV, freshman, and MS levels. GC is not a team I want to see in the future.

I like those ideas a lot. I would add to them, a press conference following the game, where officials explain each of their calls as it relates to the rule book, as well as a published game report as observed by each region’s evaluator. But your last sentence... Easily one of the most absurd things I’ve read on BGP.

Let me start by saying there’s no one who appreciates a well-timed nuts and bolts cheer from a raucous student section as much as me, but I’ve given this some thought and have come up with a few possible solutions. 1) The Six-Ref Crew -Two officials on opposite ends of the baseline, two officials at opposite foul line extended, two officials, opposite, one step inside the division line. -No “letting them play.” Every “ticky-tack” contact is called, every pinky nail below the equator of the ball is called, every hand thrown up in the air in disagreement with the call is penalized. -Every call must be confirmed by at least three other officials. So a call made table-side on the baseline would be presented the long way around to the table: Baseline-Opposite,(BL-O) Free Throw-Opposite,(FT-O) Division Line-Opposite,(DL-O) Division Line-Table.(DLT) -Any disagreement, the clock is reset and the play is redone until a basket is scored, a stop is made, or a more agreeable call is made. Benefits- Consistency; no officials in rotation, as they each have one sixth of the court or half-court in their area; officials only run half the distance of the court. Drawbacks- Expensive; Five hour games 2) The No-Ref Crew -Players call their own fouls and violations and determine the result of each. Benefits- Players have total control of the game; decrease in flopping; It’s the most similar to how most players on the court will play following their high school careers; Entertaining trash talk Drawbacks- Trash talk gone wrong; “ticky-tack” fouls reach all-time highs; no one for players, coaches, or fans to blame for losses. 3) The All-Ref Crew -Similar to the No-Ref Crew, except every person who enters the gym gets a whistle. -Every call must be voted upon by everyone in attendance, including coaches and players. -In the event of a disagreement, a re-do will begin with five seconds added to the clock. Benefits- Better attendance home and away; everyone plays a part; Drawbacks- hearing loss; The way I see it, these are our only options. Something must change!

Final. No scores, but Noah Cecil and Jessie Bowman we’re major contributors in the second half and the Generals as a team turned up the heat on the defensive side of the floor, forcing turnover after turnover to comeback, and eventually stretch the lead out of reach.

Mikey Marksberry and Jonathan Jimenez each cracked 20, with Jimenez scoring 20 in the second half on his way to 24 to lead the Green Devils. Nicholas County will play tomorrow at 4:00 against the winner of Rowan Co./McCreary Central.

What about 4 classes, and the Final Four of the class tournaments are played at Rupp as part of the Sweet 16? 1&2A winners play each other, 3&4A do the same then you’re guaranteed the David vs Goliath in the finals every year. Everybody wins. Disclaimer: I’m fine with the status quo, but as long as the games are being played, I don’t care if they classify them alphabetically.

Agreed. Got out of school to go watch my Uncle’s teams a couple of years. I’ll never forget those trips.

I'm not suggesting it should happen, although we'd get more games... but were Kentucky to go the route it appears to be heading, what would be the appropriate way to do so? As an All A guy, I like the mid-season tournament. I think seeing where you stand against schools close to your size can be very telling in what the rest of the season will require to compete in the three tournaments at the end of the year. Let's assume there would be six classes as in football. Are there enough schools from each class in each region for this to be feasible? Would this solve region realignment or throw another wrench in it? I'm looking more for how you would do it if it were inevitable than argument over why they should or shouldn't. What say you?
