  1. LaRue County's Kaitlyn Warnshuis has six by herself this year, including two grand slams. LaRue County has tailed off hard since its best start in the KHSAA scoreboard era, but she has 25-plus RBIs.
  2. Heading to Pinson Valley, Alabama, as its defensive coordinator. Starts new role April 3. PREP FOOTBALL: Hatmaker resigns after two seasons at LaRue County (

  6. I thought KY-VS-IN did NOT count toward the limit because unlike the other all-star games, it's NOT in school session?
  7. 16 teams, with 14 being in top 25, 1 receiving votes and the other being out of state (Lakota West). LOADED FIELD.
  8. But then you also get kids like Erin Boley (started senior year at 17, turned 19 during college freshman season) and Lydia Gumm (qualified for State as a third grader), where age don't mean jack and wouldn't have mattered if they were 18 (Boley) or older (Gumm) when they graduated. And many of these 19-year-old seniors are fringe players, because really, if you expect to be on the elite level, you were elite at 17 and 18 and did NOT need to beat up on kids 2-3-4-5 years younger to prove it as a 19-year-old senior. I know a couple of folks who held their kids back and it really didn't help scholarship wise. NAIA is great and all, but many kids could have gotten similar scholarships had they just graduated at 18 (pay-to-play programs such as Campbellsville and Lindsey are notorious for signing zillions of kids with a promise of making their collegiate athletic dreams come true just so CU/LWC can use that athlete's checks to pay the bills). If you're good, you're good. No matter the age. But when people find out you're older -- sometimes, MUCH older than your competition -- it creates doubt about your true talent as well as your academics and psyche.
  9. Meade is 12-2 with James Baker (preseason All-Region, some had him has preseason Region Player of the Year), 1-19 without him. Guess who's back?
  10. Jim touched on the puppet master more than I could. And yes, there are some players from the Caribbean there. More on the way from what I've been told. Change inner city and Cordia with islands and Campbellsville and you get Taylor County (unless leaders in Campbellsville put an end to this nonsense). TCHS may be in for some golden years, but will it be worth it in the end?
  11. Yeah, I've heard about the Super 10 or whatever that group of boosters is calling themselves. Big ties to football and basketball. Other sports there fight for scraps based on hirings and talent transfers
  12. Marple would be a solid choice. Not a splash, but a quality coach. But do the Taylor boosters have enough to lure Perry Thomas away from Campbellsville or Richard Owens (played at Louisville then NFL) away from South Alabama? Because unless Taylor is vastly different from the Hardins -- which top out at 10K or 20K for football head coaching stipend last time I checked -- that's one heck of a reach. And if it's the boosters footing the bill, it's more about the men with the money than the allure of a prep program with not many successful seasons (albeit Green River Lake is awesome in the summer). Don't think ANY hire TCHS makes is going to make the rest of its district and/or class go, "Uh oh. There's a new big man on campus. We're in trouble."
  13. How much pull, exactly, does Taylor County have with the U.S. Virgin Islands? That can be a big factor in determining how long TC stays as the region's premier program (for now, but historically, it's still North Hardin or E'town).
  14. Open job posting on FCPS: Online Employment Application | Open Positions
  15. Freelancing for The Courier-Journal, I covered Louisville City's 1-0 friendly loss last night to NCAA Division-I Lipscomb in front of 1,000 fans at the Elizabethtown Sports Park: LouCity falls in preseason friendly with Lipscomb
  16. Throw LaRue County into the mix. Younger Goode had a monster postseason. Also have King, Cobb and might get Harris back. And isn't Embree just a junior? Don't know if LaRue would win it all, but they have some nice pieces to keep them from falling far, especially with Adair and North taking heavy, heavy graduation losses.
  17. Nothing to be sorry for. I speak for myself, but NOTHING I post/say represents them. I like them and they treat me well, but if I say something stupid, that's ALL ON ME. Don't hold them accountable. As I've heard someone else put it, "I'm NOT their representative or senator in Congress."
  18. They pay per story, just like when I covered the Danville-LaRue football game in 2016 for the Danville paper or the Simon Kenton-Bethlehem girls soccer game for NKY.com.
  19. They changed it for whatever reason. Here you go: BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL: LaRue County has grit in region win over North Hardin (
  20. And the E'town paper's recap has TWO WORDS on the outtage of the Region PotY (Jackson) and someone who was supposed to be a D-I player (Young): BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL: LaRue County has grit in win region win over North Hardin (
  21. NH's underclassmen accounted for all of 17 points (12 by McFarlane, who is fabulous). Many are gonna feel this was a disappointing season for NH after going undefeated in district in regular season and then losing two straight. NH played four seniors tonight not named Jackson or Young. Next year is expected to be a rebuilding year.
  22. After tonight's win vs. North Hardin, LaRue is one win away from first region finals berth since 1995 and two wins away from 1st State trip since 1988 Tonight was the 17th District's first postseason loss to LaRue since 1987 region semis at Nelson (LaRue 66, North 63). 17th District (i.e. the Hardins, Elizabethtown, Fort Knox and formerly Meade) was 8-0 since. Tonight was the 17th District's first region quarterfinal loss to LaRue County in 44 YEARS. (1973: LaRue County 81, Meade County 66, at Hart)
