DeSales handled Meade easily in a scrimmage. I would look for CAL, with two weeks to stew over the loss and prepare for the Green Wave, to win this one easily.

North Hardin has an excellent and classy coaching staff. Talent is down this year for them. Colts should win this one easily, but I would like to see them get off to a better start. These slow starts are going to get them at some point.

Lexington Catholic has a BEAUTIFUL facility, and that scoreboard...wow!!! That thing cost a penny or two. Coltcity gave a pretty good synopsis. DeSales continuously shot themselves in the foot - five penalties in the first quarter, probably ten or more in the game. Four fumbles. Special teams was TERRIBLE - Lex Cath had a kickoff return for a TD that represented their only points until they scored with less than a minute to go in the third quarter. Then the Colts practically ran away from a LexCath onside kick like it was a hand grenade. And, of course, after going up 31-7, they went to the prevent defense, which does what it always does. It turned a dominating defensive performance for three quarters into three TDs for Lex Cath in the final 13 minutes. HOWEVER...Lexington Catholic's defense had no answers for the Colt offense. Literally, the only times DeSales didn't score was when they fumbled or penalized themselves into a position behind the chains. Offensively, LexCath could do nothing. The Colts are REALLY fast on defense. Except for one drive using the two-minute offense right before halftime, it was the 4th quarter before Lex Cath had a drive with more than one first down. Coach Davis will have some good film to use on playing all four quarters. LexCath is really talented - QB was picking DeSales apart in the prevent, and they had a solid receiving core. But it was no match in the trenches.

Nice effort by LC. No quit in those guys. 38-26 final.

Pick six. Colts 31-7. Defense is dominant. LC has only had one possession that includes more than one first down.

And the Knights fumble it right back. 1st down at LC's 32.

Two first downs followed by a dropped pass and a fumble. Colts to punt.

LC moves backward about 15 yards in four plays. Colts ball at 37.

LC three and out. Desales fumbles on first play. LC ball at Colt 27 yard line. Colts are their own worst enemy right now. Should be ahead two TDs.

10-7 Desales on 48 yard run by super soph Jordan Watkins. He also just missed a great TD catch in the back of the end zone last possession. Landed out of bounds on 4th down. LC with only one first down so far.

7-3 Lex Cath end of 1st. Desales dominating statistically but LC has a kickoff rerurn for a TD. Desales 5 penaltues un 1st quarter, LC zero.

"Blow the doors off" is quite a bit too strong. Nobody has blown the doors off DeSales in at least five years. And if we're going to play the injury card, DeSales was without James Tobin, their lock down corner and punt returner who is now residing with a full ride at Austin Peay. He was kept under the radar all season, playing only defense, but was planning to be used in the backfield and on punt returns in the playoff run (much like they did with Bryant Pirtle in 2014). Kid ran a punt back against Glasgow that was unbelievable, but hurt his knee later in the game. He would have been the missing piece against CAL (and others). But it was not meant to be.

I saw this game last year at LWC. Mayfield was clearly the better team that night, and from the looks of what the two teams have done so far this season, I would expect to see the Cardinals win again. Mayfield 35 Corbin 17.

My good friend Toothpick...I almost passed on that, but I have to disagree. CAL was the best team in 2-A last year, and here's where I'm really going to rub you the wrong way. I think DeSales was the second best team. But, arguing about who was second best makes me want to vomit, so I'm moving on. As they say, if you're not the lead dog, the view is always the same.... :-)

Wide open class. I love it. In 2-A, I have only seen DeSales play this season, but I will say this for them. Except for the top tier teams (Trinity, St X, Male, PRP), they have played the best of the best in the city of Louisville so far and are undefeated. They take a road trip to Lexington this week to take on their Catholic brethren, then it's 6-A North Hardin and CAL. They're still making a lot of the mistakes that young teams make, but the ceiling is REALLY high!

I thought the young Colts looked good. Numbers were indeed similar, but as you mentioned, they suited up a lot of freshmen on that sideline. DeSales' program looks solid for the foreseeable future.
