I think that is the biggest reason for the decline. People don't care about high school athletics as much as they used to. Students just don't go to games like they used to. It will only get worse and I dread the day that attendence gets so low that they move the boys to a smaller arena.

If you're talking about booster clubs, how many booster clubs do you know of that are using piggy banks and operating cash only? Booster money is kept in a checking account and those statements still have to be turned in to the school to make sure there is no tampering. They have to account for every dollar and cent just like schools do. If they don't then no more booster club. Red book laws cut out all of the spending that didn't benefit the kids.

I just think there should be a bigger difference between each. If district championships are going to count then I think you have to do something to offset the advantage of playing in a weaker district. There are districts in Louisville that are harder to win than some regions. Do you think doing District 1, Region 3, State Tournament Wins 5, State Titles 10 would give a better indication of program greatness? Just picking out a few programs that I'm familar with and applying that formula I get a more accurate ranking in my opinion. Here's where you had these teams ranked with your formula and how many points they ended up with using the formula I mentioned: #25 Madisonville-North Hopkins - 135 points #26 Breckinridge County - 142 points #27 Fairdale - 152 points #28 Bowling Green - 131 points #34 Hopkinsville - 124 points #36 Warren Central - 132 points Even using that formula Madisonville-North Hopkins is still ahead of Hopkinsville and I guess you're right the longevity of their program gives them the edge. But it moves up 2 programs that should definitely be higher in Fairdale and Breckinridge County. What do you think?

I love that someone is doing this list but your formula needs major tweaking. It seems to weight district championships too heavily. State championships should hold the greatest weight, then state tournament wins, then region championships, then district championships. Just using my home 2nd region, the district that Madisonville-North Hopkins is in used to feature not only Dawson Springs but Providence as well before they consolidated. That is two of the smallest schools in the state that rarely produced teams good enough to compete for a district championship, yet they are 25th and ahead of teams like Hopkinsville and Christian County who play in a cut-throat district.

I'll have to ask my buddies that coach but I think booster clubs have to follow red book laws too.

Finish the equation sir. 1750 x 8 = 14,000 and that is a little more than a drop in the bucket. The original statement didn't say red book was the sole reason. They simply said it was a big reason for the drop in attendance. If you don't think it has made a major difference you are sorely mistaken.

Seeding the state tournament won't work. That will open Pandora's Box when deciding how to seed teams and what poll to use. The KHSAA would end up having to create a committee and pay them. Then ticket prices rise, attendance goes down, people complain more and so on. Leave it with the blind draw. I hate the idea of eliminating district runner-up from the region. I have seen it happen way too many times where the region finals is a rematch of the district finals. I also believe there have been some state champions that did not win their district. Leave that alone it isn't near as broken as other postseason methods. I live on the Kentucky-Tennessee border (Christian County) and have several friends who have kids that play for schools in Clarksville, TN. In Tennessee's postseason they can lose TWICE in the district tournament (semifinals and 3rd place game) and lose again in the region championship game and still make it to the state tournament. Kentucky has it right guys.

I haven't seen the big guy from Graves County but Jaylen Sebree doesn't impress me. I watched him play all year and I can see why college coaches want him because of his potential. I just don't think he's going to turn into that guy until he's been in college for a year or two.

It would be a tight squeeze but what if they played the entire 1st round on Wednesday to allow for a Saturday championship game? Something like this... Session 1: 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, 1:30 Session 2: 4:30, 6:00, 7:30, 9:00 Yes it's an early start and a late finish but you get all 8 1st round games played in 1 day and the KHSAA still gets their precious break between sessions to charge everybody again. Yes they lose 2 sessions but they also avoid paying for Rupp Arena another day. It would also create a golden opportunity to bring back the 3rd place game.

After watching him lead his team to a state championship, I have to think that Sweet 16 MVP Taveion Hollingsworth is the front runner for the award. Some other names that immediately come to mind are David Sloan (Taylor County), Cole VonHandorf (Covington Catholic) and Tray Hollowell (University Heights). Anyone else that you think is a front runner for Mr. Basketball next season?

Actually it was the 05 team. He won state in 04 with that loaded team that is one of the best I've ever seen. That 05 team had no business winning 1 game at Rupp but Riley did what I thought was his best coaching job ever that season. The man can coach!

She's the best that I have ever seen in Kentucky. Every time I have watched her I have tried to find a weakness but I have yet to see one. If you want to beat E-Town you had better hope she doesn't shoot it well that night.

I think you meant Butler vs Murray. Butler will win that one by 8 or more. I have seen both teams play. I just can't see Murray beating them.

It's still 5 championships in 11 tries though. The postseason starts with the district tournament so those tries count too. An impressive feat anyway. Coach Sherrill is in the middle of his own 4th region dynasty.

Actually this is Sherrill's 10th season at Bowling Green. He was hired for the 2005-06 season. Still impressive to win 5 region titles in 10 tries.

I didn't know about the kids that Warren Central got from outside of Bowling Green but your information isn't accurate with Anthony Hickey. You may not know his dad took the girls head coach job Anthony's freshman year and is still the girls head coach. His dad you also may not know played for Christian County.

2016-17 Projected Team Rankings 1. Webster County - The Lady Trojans return every player except Hallie Gibson from the team that nearly upset Henderson County to earn a trip to NKU. The best shooting team in the region comes back next season even better and favorites to win it all. 2. Henderson County - The Lady Colonels from up north lose Samantha Carter and Mikayla Gilbert but return the best player in the region in Alisha Owens and shooter Emma Lander. A school the size of Henderson County doesn't rebuild, they reload. 3. Christian County - The southern Lady Colonels return their entire team from this season. This team showed a lot of improvement from the beginning of the season until the end. Their best talent will still only be juniors and sophomores but look for Coach Hickey's team to be a contender in the region. 4. Hopkinsville - The Lady Tigers lose one of the best rebounders in the state (Farisia Hodge) and shooting threats JaEricka Grubbs and Mykalia Herbert but return Janiya Davis and Jaliyah Grubbs. The Lady Tigers will still have the biggest lineup in the region and will dominate the glass in most matchups. 5. Hopkins County Central - This is the first team on the outside looking in when you talk about contending for a region championship. The Lady Storm lose Lyric and Makayla Campbell but return one of the most underrated players in the region in Talana Hardy. She will look to her young teammates lead by Nykea Ikeard to help get the Lady Storm back to the region tournament. 6. Madisonville-North Hopkins - The Lady Maroons return the best rebounder in the region in Molly Stone and her partner in the post Irelane Enoch. Also back in starting guard Jayda Civils who plays more for defense. The Lady Maroons will turn to a cast of unknowns to fill the shoes of Adarian Gray, Shaniya Whitsell, Shyia Foster and T Aliyah Sherman. 7. Crittenden County - The Lady Rockets also return their entire roster from this season but that roster relied very heavily on Cassidy Moss. Moss lead the region in scoring for the majority of the season but was held scoreless by Madisonville-North Hopkins in the region tournament. If the Lady Rockets want to improve they must find another consistent scoring threat. 8. Livingston Central - The Lady Cardinals are another team that had no seniors this season. They return All-Region star Tabby Padon and shooter Kalynn Campbell for the next 2 seasons. Expect them to be an improved team that will be looking to make a run at a 5th district championship. 9. Lyon County - The Lady Lyons lose their heart and soul in Rebecca Somers and Melanie PPoole who combined to score 37 of 57 points in their region tournament loss to Hopkins County Central. They will now turn to Allison Murphy and Terrianna Johnson to take over the reigns. Expect the Lady Lyons to remain competitive for a 5th district championship. 10. Caldwell County - The Lady Tigers had one of the youngest rosters in the region and had a rough start to this season. They improved as their young kids got more experience and expect more improvement this year. But this team is still far away from the Caldwell County teams we saw just a few years ago. 11. University Heights - The Lady Blazers will lose dual threat Makenzi Hamby but return a cast lead by hard-working overachiever Jordon Hornbuckle. The Lady Blazers have a lot of ground to cover if they expect to knock off Christian County or Hopkinsville. 12. Union County - The Bravettes lose leading scorer Randi Conway and leading rebounder Devisha Williams but return point guard Kiara Campbell and undersized sharpshooter Victoria French. The biggest question for the Bravettes in 2016-17 will be the health of Kiara Campbell who went down with a knee injury in the district tournament. 13. Trigg County - The Lady Cats only won 2 region games last season in a rebuilding effort that will continue in 2016-17 as they look to replace leading scorer JaKashea Martin and solid post presence Taylor Gray. There will be a glimmer of hope since they return Lauren Oliver but she will need a lot of help if they hope to climb up the rankings and be a threat in the 5th district. 14. Dawson Springs - The Lady Panthers showed a lot of improvement this season but the departure of some key players hurts their chances of moving much higher in the rankings. 15. Fort Campbell - The question every year for the Lady Falcons is who will stay and who will leave. Unless they get a lot of help with new players expect them to finish at the bottom of the 2nd region rankings again this season. 2016-17 Projected Player Rankings 1. I was referring to the fact that Booker and Jones are not from Bowling Green, KY. At least Warren Central kept it in the city limits and at least the 8th district teams have players that have always been in the 8th district. Everyone knows the kids in Hopkinsville change schools like they change their socks and I hate it. All that said I wasn't trying to get this kind of a reaction. I just thought it was funny but obviously I ruffled some feathers. I'll step away now. :isurrender:

Imagine if both Jones and Booker had gotten ejected. Bowling Green would have had to play with kids that are actually from Bowling Green. Wouldn't that be a sight.

I'm glad you said arguably. I have seen Bowling Green play twice and I have seen Christian County play multiple times. I don't think they are even the best team in western Kentucky. I have yet to see Dunbar, Mercer County and some of the other top ranked teams but the rest I've seen has been Christian County.

In the video it looks like #23 Booker threw a punch not #13 Jones. The video cuts off a lot of it so I could be wrong.
