  1. In High School ball, placekicker. While others mention getting the ball into the end zone for field position purposes, I would call attention to the fact that if you don't have to cover a kick, you are not getting injured in the process. If you make a team go 80 yards every time ( and don't give up big plays), and subsequently 10 -14 plays, odds are the offense will make a mistake.
  2. Get on stair laterally. Bend one knee until the other foot hits the floor. Start out 3 sets of 20 reps and work up to 3 sets of 40 reps.
  3. I can't name the muscles targeted but I can name some of the movements. Leg presses. Single knee bends. Leg lifts (vertical and lateral). Plyometric band leg extensions. Running is waist deep water.
  4. Agree with you in general, but in this case Niece was not playing aau this summer. I asked her specifically if she felt fatigued in any way, and she said she felt strong. I wish the girls specifically would spend less time on the court, and more time in the weight room training specifically to avoid these injuries (Acl/Mcl injuries more common to females). Does your program have strength training?
  5. I respect Jeff and his staff immensely, but that is scary. How many times did the 2016 team give up 40 or more? Too many times. Maybe the Birds and Pioneers go for a combined score of 200 this year!
  6. I consider Open Enrollment and Transfers to be separate topics.
  7. The only transfer on SK roster is Harmeyer. Everybody else is a permanent resident of Kenton County and played middle school ball in Kenton County. Please don't lump us in with some other folks here!
  8. Athletic culture!
  9. I thought you had to be enrolled at a school to participate in summer ball? Perhaps I am mistaken.
  10. Harney was not enrolled at SK until after the fall semester started which is a requirement for summer ball. Unlike some of the other transfers SK has had, Harney came from a rural county program. Bigger culture shock. I can only think of one other mid year transfer and she struggled for months.
  11. Harney just was not a fit at SK. The was compounded by transferring in the middle of the year. SK in many ways is run like a college program and coming from a rural county program there was too much for her to learn in a short period of time that I'm sure made the situation difficult. With summer ball under her belt, she should have a better experiance at HC, where zone defenses are employed and standard HS offenses are run.
  12. Don't some kids have aau conflicts with summer ball?
  13. Hope so, its her senior year!
  14. Where is this info coming from? I thought I had the scoop, now I find I've been scooped!
  15. Ryle lost to Scott County , with an established QB. SK gave up 60 to Lafayette.
  16. This move does seem irrational.
  17. Scott County, Lafayette, Male, T and X are 4 scores better than anybody up here.
  18. Harney is already committed to Bellarmine. The need to showcase her skills for the next level is over. SK is a very strong contender to get to the state tournament again, HC, not so much. SK is a very tough program to walk into in the middle of the year. Their offense and defence is dependent upon reading the opposition. That can't be learned in a few weeks and that may have been a frustrating experience for her. In addition, SK plays a switching man to man defence that looks like a zone, but is not. Most kids come from zone defenses and find difficulty in the transition.
  19. Thats not saying much these days.
  20. I remember all the grief SK got when she showed up last winter. Now, SK looks like HC's feeder program! I wonder what these kids say on Senior Night when asked about their favorite moment at XY school when they have been there only 6 months.
  21. You do know that Harney is at Holy Cross now?
  22. SK's whole system is designed to fatigue the opposition, especially those starters playing heavy minutes.
