Thank you for the compliment @Purple88! I can't take any of the credit for media day, as Vic and company did all of the heavy lifting while I was out traveling for my day job. That said, I am extremely proud of the coverage that we are able to bring to the area. I was able to watch from a distance and I thought everyone involved did a great job! I am really excited to be adding 2 new shows to the 1027 lineup this high school sports season. On Friday's we are going to be doing an immediate scoreboard show with Coaches comments from around our area. Several of the area Coaches have already expressed excitement to be able to call in and give their postgame thoughts. We also will be debuting a new Kentucky High School show that will feature a Coach and Player from around the state, every week. The first episode will be available on this coming Wednesday, the 7th. The debut episode will feature Mayfield Coach, Cliff Dew, along with Bowling Green's Duce Bailey. This show will be released every single Wednesday.

The schools that will be featured at the event are: Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic, Daviess Co, Apollo, Ohio Co, Muhlenberg Co, Mclean Co, Meade Co, Hancock Co, Breck Co, Butler Co, Grayson Co, Henderson Co, Tell City, IN, Perry Central, IN and South Spencer, IN. I've been off the grid a little over the past few weeks recharging my batteries but the football itch is back and we are ready to dive into the preseason! Great write up! Apollo should be very solid at the skill positions. Sophomore QB Max Johnson has so much potential to be a superstar. If they can get any OL play at all, the Eagles should be a sneaky team this season.

1.Butler County (20-8, 12-0) – Butler comes in as the tournament favorite but drew the co-favorite in Daviess County in Round 1. They feature one the of the best scorers in the state in Ty Price. Price has a tremendous starting lineup around him, highlighted by big man Lawson Rice. Rice averaged a double-double on the season. Briar Griffin is a great compliment to Ty Price at the guard spot. Trevor Deweesse and Justin Castlin do all the little things for Coach Dockery to round out the lineup. If the Bears have any weakness at all, it would be their depth. Butler County has never won a 3rd Region title. This is their best chance in school history. 2.Daviess County (24-7, 13-3) – The Panthers come into the regional off a disappointing loss to Owensboro Catholic in the 9th district tournament. That said, they sport one of the best rosters in the region, led by dynamic point guard, Jonathan Moss. The Sophomore has been electric in the second half of the season and is being courted by several division 1 level programs. Gage Phelps is the lone senior in the starting lineup and brings great leadership and scoring. Jaxon Brown has emerged in the post season proving to be a scorer when other teams try to take Moss away. Aydan Ayer and DeAaron Watkins bring the defensive energy to round out the starting lineup and both are capable of scoring 20 on any given night. This is the Panthers first trip to the Regional Tournament since 2017. They want to leave their mark and end their season in Rupp Arena. 3.Ohio County (18-12, 10-3) – Ohio County comes in hot, having won 13 of their last 16 games. Elijah Decker has been incredible in the back half of the season to lead the Eagles. Versatile guard Carter Young has been consistent all year long as Deckers top compliment. Bo Morse emerged as a scorer over the past few weeks and can be someone who helps elevate Ohio County to a Regional contender. The Eagles have battled injuries and adversity all year, but they have put all of that behind them now. They are primed to make a run for Rupp. 4.Owensboro Catholic (21-9, 12-4) – The Aces won the 9th district championship with one of their best players in Tutt Carrico on the sidelines with a back injury. Luke Bieckman was incredible in the tournament, scoring 28 and 33 in back-to-back performances. When the entire gym knew he was getting the ball, they still couldn’t stop him. Coach Tim Riley thrives during tournament season and is getting the most out of guys like Dre Corothers, Waryn Eblhar, Solly Smith and Kiser Frick. Never go against Riley in elimination games. He is 9 for 9 in district elimination games since taking over as Head Coach for the Aces. He is hunting his 3rd Region title in 9 seasons. 5.Meade County (16-15, 8-5) – Meade County comes in playing their best basketball of the season. They have won 9 of their last 12 games, including an 11th District Title. Coach Tripure knows his way around the Sportscenter. He took Meade to 3 straight regional title games a few years back and is looking to make another run this season. The Waves are led by Garrett Hardesty at 16.2 ppg. Hayden Shouse and Peyton Johnson are as good of a big 3 as you are going to find in the region. The key for Meade will be their role players. Michael Blackman had a big District Championship game and will look to carry that into this week. The Waves got a favorable draw and could be a dark horse to make a run at the who tournament. 6.Breck County (16-12, 13-7) – Breck has won 10 of their last 12 games but fell to Meade County in the district title game on Friday. Consistency will be the key for the Tigers. They are led by Mercer Rogers at 14.9 ppg. Lance Poole has emerged as of late and pushed his scoring average to almost 11 ppg. Big man Brayden Carmen is one of the regions best rebounders at 7.4 rpg. The Tigers got a tough draw but have the potential to upset anyone on any given night. 7.Edmonson County (14-15, 5-7) – The Wildcats upset their way into the regional tournament, knocking off a good Grayson County team in the district first round. Kollin Doyle led them with 17 points. Edmonson does everything well as they stack up in the top half of this backet in every statistical category. They will have to translate that to on court success. Joshua Decker is right at a double-double on the season, scoring 11 ppg and pulling 9.1 rpg. Will Alexander is also in double figures at 11.6 ppg while Wyatt Gravil has the best field goal percentage in the tournament at 63.9. Do not sleep on the Wildcats in that first round match-up with Catholic. 8.Muhlenberg County (8-22, 4-9) – The Mustangs fought their way into the regional with a win over Mclean County in district play. They are led by Madox Jernigan at 16 ppg. The key for the Mustangs will be consistency around him. Jace Sommers and Issac Coats are capable scorers to compliment Jernigan. The Mustangs got a draw they can work with and could find themselves making an improbable run if they play to the level, they are capable of. REGIONAL TOURNAMENT GAMES Owensboro Catholic Aces vs Edmonson County Wildcats These two teams did not play during the regular season but the match-up is intriguing. Owensboro Catholic is coming off an improbable run to the 9th District Championship behind incredible performances from Luke Bieckman. The Aces expect to have Tutt Carrico back in the lineup for the regional games. Edmonson comes in off an upset of Grayson County in the district. They do a lot of little things well. Statistically, they stack up very well in this game. If they can find some way to limit Bieckman, they will have a shot but that has proven to be a tough task for anyone during tournament season. The Cats only scored 40 in the district championship loss to Butler. They will need to find the 60’s to have a shot at the upset. Meade County Greenwave vs Muhlenberg County Mustangs On paper, this is a pretty even match-up between two teams that did not play during the regular season. Meade has had more success finding wins on the season, but Muhlenberg has a group of guys that can compete with anyone when it is all clicking. Jernigan for Muhlenberg and Hardesty for Meade are big time scorers and expect to lead their respective teams. Which program can get the most out of their role players should determine who survives and advances into Saturday’s semifinal round. Whoever that may be, will have momentum and another winnable game to put themselves one win away from Rupp. Butler County Bears vs Daviess County Panthers It goes without saying that this is the game of the first round. The two best teams all season long drew each other in round one. The teams are 1-2 in pretty much every major statistical category in the region. Ty Price vs Jonathan Moss should be worth the price of admission. In the pain you are going to have Lawson Rice matched up against DeAaron Watkins. Gage Phelps for Daviess and Briar Griffin are each capable of scoring 30 to lead their respective teams. Jaxon Brown is coming off a great District Tournament for the Panthers. Castlen and Deweese from Butler and Ayer from Daviess have been built as some of the best defenders in the region all year. This game has all the makings of a classic and should not be missed. It will open the night on Thursday. Ohio County Eagles vs Breckinridge County Tigers Ohio County comes into this game playing as well as anyone in the region. Elijah Decker has elevated himself even further over the past few weeks and will be a load for the Tigers to have to slow down. Mercer Rogers put on a nice show at the Sportscenter last year and has the potential to do it again. Breck will need him too, to have a shot. Brayden Carmen vs Bo Morse should be a great match-up in the paint. Carter Young and Lance Poole are both “X factor” type of players that could make a difference in a close one. The Eagles beat Breck back in the first week of the season, but a lot has changed since then. Ohio will be the favorites, but the Fighting Tigers have been playing well. Both teams bring great crowds. Thursday night will be an atmosphere in the Sportscenter. Tournament season is finally upon us and the region feels wide open. Butler County comes in 10-0 against the region, but did not play a team in the 9th District due to cancelations. Daviess County is the only 20 game winner in the region but even they have had some head scratching losses over the past few weeks. Ohio County is playing well and has already punched their ticket to the regional tournament. The winner of Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic should gain a ton of momentum heading into the regional next week. Grayson County comes in hot, having beat Daviess County by double digits last week. Expect more intrigue at next week's regional tournament, as most all of the district games have heavy favorites. Keep your eye on Owensboro vs Owensboro Catholic, Mclean County vs Muhlenberg County and possibly Grayson County vs Edmonson County as the best first round games. District 12 – at Grayson County Butler County v Whitesville Trinity – it has been a rough rebuilding year for the Raiders as the Bears won both regular season match-ups handily. Expect the same in this one. Grayson County v Edmonson County – Grayson won both regular season meetings by double digits and have been playing really well to close the season. They won 4 straight games, including a dominating win over Daviess County. Edmonson comes in winning 3 of their last 4, but are still double digit underdogs in this match-up. This is a heated rivalry game so anything could happen. District 11 – at Meade County Breck County v Cloverport – The Tigers will be heavy favorites in round 1. They closed the regular season winning 9 of 10 and beat Cloverport by an average of 41 points in the regular season. Meade County v Hancock County – The Waves enter the postseason having won 7 of 10 and playing better. They handled Hancock County in the regular season by an average of 26.5 points. District 10 – at Ohio County Muhlenberg County at Mclean County – 2 of the Mustangs 7 wins came against Mclean County. They won the first game by 7 and the second game by 2. Muhlenberg has only scored 3 wins since Christmas. Mclean comes in on a down swing, having lost 9 of their last 13 games. Gunnar Revelett and Brodie Cline are as good as 1-2 punch as any team has in the region. Whichever team can get the most out of their star players should advance to the championship to take on Ohio County. District 9 – at Apollo Daviess County v Apollo – Apollo scored its first winning season since 2017 and has taken very positive steps forward as a program this season. That said, they got a nearly impossible draw with Daviess County in round one. The Panthers dominated this match-up in the regular season, winning by 34 and 35. Owensboro v Owensboro Catholic – This is easily the best game of the first round across the region. These bitter rivals played 2 great regular season games, and this one expects to be no different. Owensboro surrendered a double-digit lead in the final minutes to let game one slip away. Game two was controlled by Catholic but Owensboro made a late push to take the lead before falling short, 55-50. Keaton Hughes is a mis-match for Owensboro Catholic, as the Aces do not have a big. They have been able to offset that with a small lineup that outscores the Devils. Owensboro has also had a lot of trouble with the full court pressure that Catholic brings. With only one week left in the regular season, Daviess County returns to the top spot. They haven't played the schedule Butler County has played but they have shown more consistency overall. While it feels like those 2 programs are the overwhelming favorites to win the region, no one is safe from upset. Ohio County, Owensboro Catholic and Owensboro all have impressive wins this season to go along with some head scratching losses. Grayson County is full of young talent and have potential to be a dark horse team in the regional, if they make it to the Sportscenter. 1. Daviess County Panthers (22-5) – UP 1 – Wins (58-40 Mclean Co & 91-49 Logan Co) Since mid-December the Panthers have logged a 19-2 record and have proven to be the most consistent team in the region. Gage Phelps led the way with 21 in the win over Mclean while Jonthan Moss poured in 21 against Logan County. The Panthers broke a school record with 15 made 3 pointers against Logan County. They host Grayson County on Tuesday before closing the season at Union on Thursday. 2. Butler County Bears (17-8) – DOWN 1 – Wins (70-65 Grayson Co & 61-45 Ohio Co), Losses (72-53 Henderson Co) The Bears grinded out two good wins to open the week but fell in a disappointing defeat on Saturday. They secured the 1 seed in the 12th district with their win over Grayson County. Ty Price scored 27, Briar Griffin scored 20 and Justin Castlen logged a double double at 12 points and 11 rebounds. In the win over Ohio County, Lawson Rice scored 15 and pulled 15 boards. The Bears travel to Mclean County on Tuesday before hosting Owensboro on Thursday to close the regular season. 3. Ohio County Eagles (15-12) – UP 1 – Wins (48-47 Owensboro Catholic & 66-50 Madisonville), Losses (61-45 Butler Co) The Eagles bounced back from a disappointing second half effort in dramatic fashion, beating Owensboro Catholic with a 7-0 run in the final 50 seconds. Elijah Decker scored all 7, including a buzzer beating three-point shot, to win the game. He finished with 24. The Eagles close the season with road games against Hancock and Russellville on Tuesday and Friday. 4. Owensboro Catholic Aces (18-8) - SAME – Wins (67-48 Breck Co & 58-50 Union Co), Losses (48-47 Ohio Co) The Aces were tenths of a second away from a 3-0 week. They let one slip away at Ohio County on Thursday. Luke Beickman continues to be one of the best scorers in the region, putting up 17 against Breck, 23 against Ohio and 19 against Union Co. The Aces host Warren East Tuesday before traveling to University Heights on Thursday. 5. Owensboro Red Devils (12-12) – SAME – Wins (72-59 Henderson Co), Losses (58-56 Christian Co) The Devils snapped a 3 game skid with an impressive win over the #2 team in the second region, Henderson. Keaton Hughes put up a monster game with 30 points and 17 rebounds. Hughes is throwing his name in the All-Region 1st team conversation as he is scoring 16 ppg and pulling 10.3 rebounds per game on average. Owensboro hosts Hopkinsville Tuesday before traveling to Butler on Thursday to close the regular season. 6.Grayson County Cougars (15-11) – UP 1 – Wins (76-56 John Hardin, 70-62 Greenwood), Losses (70-65 Butler Co) Grayson County bounced back nicely after losing 3 of 5 the past couple of weeks. Against John Hardin, Jack Logsdon led the way with 21 and 11 boards while Kobe Martin scored 16. The Cougars look to be at full strength heading into the final week of the season. They travel to Daviess County on Tuesday before hosting Hancock to close the regular season on Friday. 7. Apollo Eagles (15-12) – UP 2 – Wins (58-56 Muhlenberg Co & 65-46 Crittenden Co) The young Eagles have come through their worst stretch of the season to win 4 of their last 5 games, including a nice home win over Muhlenberg. They have secured their first winning season since 2017. Coach Ryne Tinsley and staff deserve a ton of credit. Tate Powers had a nice week, leading the way with 19. Luke Jarboe has raised his season average to right at 13 points per game to lead the Eagles. They host Logan County tonight before John Hardin to close the season on Friday. 8. Breckinridge County Tigers (13-10) – DOWN 2 – Losses (67-48 Owensboro Catholic) The Fighting Tigers had their 7 game win streak snapped in a loss to Owensboro Catholic on Tuesday but have still been much better in the second half of the season. Lance Poole led the way in defeat with 12 points. Breck closes the season on the road with Trinity on Tuesday and Edmonson County on Thursday. 9. Mclean County Cougars (15-10) – DOWN 1 – Losses (58-40 Daviess Co) The Cougars continue to slid in this poll, but can’t be counted out come district tournament time. Coach Lynam has proven to be a winner and has put together one of the longest streaks of winning seasons in Mclean County basketball history. Gunnar Revelett is still one of the top scorers in the region at 19.6 ppg and Brodie Cline is right at 15 ppg for the Cougars. They will close the season with a home game against Butler County on Tuesday before traveling to Whitesville Trinity on Thursday. 10. Meade County Greenwave (13-14) – SAME – Wins (77-54 Bethlehem & 75-37 Whitesville Trinity), Losses (90-59 Central Hardin) The Waves are playing much better over the past few weeks as they have won 6 of their last 8 games. Garrett Hardesty had 31 while Hayden Shouse scored 24 in their win over Bethlehem. Peyton Johnson poured in 26 in the loss to Central Hardin. He also had 20 in the win over Trinity, while Hardesty led the way with 22. They will close the season at home with games against North Bullitt on Tuesday and Fairdale on Thursday. 11. Edmonson County Wildcats (12-13) – SAME – Wins (68-59 Marion Co & 79-43 Hancock Co) The Cats put a winning season in reach with 2 big wins this week. Wyatt Gravil led the way with 18 against Marion. Joshua Decker continues to put up near double double numbers with 11 ppg and 9 rpg on the season. Edmonson needs to win both games this week to finish with a winning season. They host Russellville on Tuesday and Breck Co on Thursday. 12. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (6-20) – SAME – Losses (65-63 Owensboro Catholic 2OT, 65-63 Caldwell Co & 71-65 Madisonville) Since defeating Grayson County on January 4th, the Mustangs are 1-12. The silver lining is they get Mclean County in the district tournament, who they have defeated twice this season. Madox Jernigan leads the team with 15.7 ppg. They travel to Logan County Tuesday before closing the season at home against Bowling Green on Friday. 13. Hancock County Hornets (9-17) – SAME – Wins (56-42 Whitesville Trinity), Losses (79-43 Edmonson Co) Alex Madden continued his great season this week, with another double double in the win over Trinity. He had 23 points and 11 rebounds. The Hornets close the season hosting Ohio County on Tuesday before traveling to Grayson County on Friday. 14. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (2-25) – SAME – Wins (77-65 Heritage Christian), Losses (56-42 Hancock County & 75-37 Meade County) Hayden Aull had a big week to lead Trinity to their 2nd win of the season. He leads the team with nearly 13ppg. The Raiders close the season at home against Breck County on Tuesday and Mclean County on Thursday. 15. Cloverport Aces (4-20) – SAME – Wins (43-38 Foundation Christian), Losses (63-36 FT Knox) Cole Weatherholt scored 17 and Dorcey Emery had 11 and pulled 13 rebounds in the Aces win over Foundation Christian. They close the season Saturday at Francis Parker.

Even though there is only 2 weeks of regular season left, there are some big time match-ups remaining for the top teams. Butler County has a grind this week as they take on Grayson County, Ohio County and Henderson County. They also picked up Owensboro next week. Ohio County is playing its best basketball of the season as they get set to host Butler County and Owensboro Catholic this week. Breck County has won 7 straight games and look like a team that could win a couple of games in the regional tournament with the right draw. Butler County and Daviess County have proven themselves to be the region's best teams, but the gap is not big enough to rule out an upset winner come tournament time. 1. Butler County Bears (15-7) – SAME – Wins (97-68 Edmonson Co), Losses (74-70 Warren Central) Butler County opened the week with a tough overtime loss to Warren Central. The Bears led for most of the game before giving away in the final few minutes. While they should have won the game, it at least shows that they can compete against some of the upper level teams around western Kentucky. Ty Price led the way with 31. Ty followed that up with another monster game against Edmonson County, as he scored 40. Lawson Rice scored 22 in the district win. Price has upped his average to 29.5 ppg, which is good for 3rd in the state. The Bears travel to Grayson County tonight and Ohio County on Tuesday before returning home to face Henderson on Saturday. 2. Daviess County Panthers (20-5) – SAME – Wins (83-48 Apollo), Losses (69-64 Greenwood) The Panthers suffered a tough setback at Greenwood to open the week. The Gators knocked down 11 3 point shots to help power the upset. Daviess bounced back with a district win over Apollo on Friday. Jonathan Moss continues to emerge as one of the region’s best players. DeArron Watkins scored 21 in the win. The Panthers host Mclean County on Tuesday before traveling to Logan County on Friday. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (16-7) - SAME – Wins (65-63 Muhlenberg Co 2OT, 55-50 Owensboro), Losses (63-61 Evansville Memorial, IN) The Aces battled this week with tough wins over Muhlenberg and Owensboro. They fell short against a good Memorial team on Saturday. Luke Beickman had a great week. He scored 31 against Memorial, 19 against Owensboro and 26 against Muhlenberg. The Aces host Breck Co on Tuesday, travel to Ohio County on Thursday and Union County on Saturday. 4. Ohio County Eagles (13-11) – SAME – Wins (73-30 Whitesville Trinity & 55-51 Mclean) The Eagles stayed hot with 2 wins this week. They have now won 8 of their last 10 games. Elijah Decker has scored 22 or more in the last 6 games as he is playing some of the best basketball in the region. Carter Young has his season average to up near 16 ppg as well. The Eagles will be tested this week with home games against Butler County Tuesday and Owensboro Catholic on Thursday. They travel to Butler County on Saturday to face Madisonville. 5. Owensboro Red Devils (11-11) – SAME – Losses (73-59 Bowling Green, 55-50 Owensboro Catholic & 84-45 Evansville Harrison, IN) It was a tough week for the Devils against very good competition. They were up against the best team in the 4th region and the best team in Evansville in Harrison. Friday, they took a late lead over Owensboro Catholic but could not hold on against the Aces pressure defense. Keaton Hughes had 18 points and 12 boards in the loss to Catholic. The Devils will look to get back on track against Christian County Tuesday before hosting Henderson on Friday. 6. Breckinridge County Tigers (13-10) – UP 2 – Wins (87-80 South Spencer, 69-41 Hancock Co & 75-60 Grayson Co) The Fighting Tigers are one of the hottest teams in the region as they have now won 7 straight games. Jonah Miller scored 26 to lead a comeback win over South Spencer. Mercer Rogers scored 20 to lead the team in the district win over Hancock. On Saturday, Brayden Carmen took home player of the game honors in the win over Grayson County. They will travel to Owensboro Catholic on Tuesday before Mclean County on Friday. 7.Grayson County Cougars (13-10) – DOWN 1 – Wins (79-57 Mclean Co & 66-54 Whitesville Trinity), Losses (75-60 Breck Co) Grayson County had a couple guys out of the lineup this week but were able to get a district win over Trinity on Friday. Jack Logsdon had a big week with 36 against Mclean, 21 against Trinity and 21 against Breck. The Cougars host Butler County tonight and John Hardin tomorrow before traveling to Greenwood on Friday. 8. Mclean County Cougars (15-9) – DOWN 1 – Wins (64-32 Heritage Christian), Losses (79-57 Grayson Co & 55-51 Ohio Co) The Cougars had another tough week but bounced back with a win over Heritage Christian on Saturday. They are just 3-7 in their last 10 games. Brodie Cline had 24 points in the loss to Grayson. Mclean is at Daviess County on Tuesday before hosting Dawson Springs on Friday and Breck County on Saturday. 9. Apollo Eagles (13-12) – SAME – Wins (39-37 Hancock Co & 67-45 Whitesville Trinity), Losses (83-48 Daviess Co) The young Eagles battled out 2 wins this week. Kobe Kelly knocked down a game winner to beat Hancock on Tuesday. Saturday, Tate Powers scored 19 in the bounce back win over Trinity. Luke Jarboe scored 16 in that win and he had 24 in the loss to Daviess County on Friday. Apollo hosts Muhlenberg on Tuesday before traveling to Crittenden County on Friday. 10. Meade County Greenwave (11-13) – SAME – Wins (76-31 Cloverport & 68-49 Thomas Nelson), Losses (77-62 Elizabethtown) The Waves bounced back from a loss to E-Town to open the week with back to back wins over Cloverport and Thomas Nelson. They have now won 4 of their last 5. Hayden Shouse scored 21 in the loss to E-Town while Peyton Johnson led the way with 16 against Cloverport. Meade hosts Bethlehem tomorrow before traveling to Central Hardin Friday and Whitesville Trinity on Saturday. 11. Edmonson County Wildcats (10-13) – SAME – Losses (61-54 Metcalfe Co & 97-68 Butler Co) It was a tough week for the Wildcats. They have now dropped 5 of their last 6 games. Joshua Decker continues to be a double-double machine as he scored 13 and pulled 14 boards in the loss to Metcalfe. The Cats travel to Marion County on Tuesday before hosting Hancock on Friday. 12. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (6-18) – SAME – Losses (65-63 Owensboro Catholic 2OT, 65-63 Caldwell Co & 71-65 Madisonville) The Mustangs rough season continued this past week. They have now lost 6 straight and 10 of their last 11 games. They battled Catholic into overtime on Tuesday before falling short. Jace Sommers and Issac Coats led the way with 15 each. Muhlenberg travels to Apollo tomorrow before Hopkinsville on Friday. 13. Hancock County Hornets (8-16) – SAME – Losses (39-37 Apollo & 69-41 Breck Co) The Hornets led Apollo for most of the game on Tuesday before getting beat on a last second shot. They are having a hard time finding consistent scoring in some close losses. Hancock looks to bounce back this week as they travel to Trinity and Edmonson County. 14. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (1-23) – SAME – Losses (73-30 Ohio Co, 66-54 Grayson Co & 67-45 Apollo) The Raiders battled Grayson County to a close district loss on Friday. Hayden Aull had 21 to lead the way for Trinity. They will host Hancock County tonight before traveling to Heritage Christian tomorrow. Friday they host Union County and then Meade County on Saturday. 15. Cloverport Aces (3-19) – SAME – Wins (47-10 Kentucky School for the Deaf), Losses (76-31 Meade Co & 87-22 Brown) Cole Weatherholt had 14 points and 14 boards in the Aces in this week. They host Foundation Christian on Tuesday before Ft Knox on Friday.

Butler County played a great game but came apart in the final few minutes. It will be a good learning experience for them moving forward. Unseld and Price are worth the price of admission. Nice finish from the Dragons!

With only 3 weeks left in the regular season, district seeding is starting to become clear. In the 9th, Daviess County has all but secured the 1 seed, setting up a big Owensboro Catholic vs Owensboro first round match-up. In the 10th, Ohio County has punched their ticket, setting up Mclean and Muhlenberg in an elimination game. Breck County has secured the 1 seed in the 11th, pitting Meade County against Hancock. In the 12th, Butler County still has some work to do, but is the heavy favorite to land the 1 seed meaning Grayson County would play Edmonson County in the first round. Those standings will officially be set early next week. 1. Butler County Bears (14-6) – SAME – Wins (80-50, Edmonson Co, 72-64 Franklin Simpson, 80-71 Grayson Co & 88-68 Barren Co) The Bears have reeled off 7 straight wins as Ty Price continues to take down record after record. He eclipsed 2000 total points after only scoring 23 total points in middle school. He also set the all-time 3rd region record for three pointers made, with 300. Over the 7 game winning streak, he has scored 32.7 ppg. He is getting great help from Lawson Rice, who is putting up a double double with 18.8 ppg and 11.3 rpg. Justin Castlin & Briar Griffin are both averaging double figures as well. The Bears have a big test at Warren Central tomorrow before returning to district play at Edmonson County on Friday. 2. Daviess County Panthers (19-4) – SAME – Wins (63-48 Muhlenberg Co, 58-48 Owensboro Catholic & 70-61 Evansville North, IN) The Panthers had a red hot week, taking down a red hot Owensboro Catholic team on Friday. That win secures the Panthers top spot in district and helps them avoid the Aces and Devils in the first round. On Saturday, they defeated an Evansville North team that beat Butler County earlier in the season. Jonathan Moss stayed hot, putting up 21 in the win over North, while Gage Phelps led the way with 18 against the Aces. Adayn Ayer had a tremendous defensive effort against Catholic that helped hold them to only 48 points. Daviess travels to Greenwood on Tuesday before traveling to Apollo on Friday. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (13-4) - SAME – Wins (71-58 Webster Co), Losses (58-48 Daviess Co & 54-52 St X) The Aces have lost 3 of 4 against very good competition but even in defeat they have proven to be able to compete against top ranked schools. Tutt Carrico had a nice week, averaging 14 ppg in the 3 games. Luke Beickman had a big game against St X, scoring 18. The Aces are at Muhlenberg on Tuesday before coming home against Owensboro on Friday. They will host Evansville Memorial, IN on Saturday. 4. Ohio County Eagles (11-11) – SAME – Wins (47-58 Butler), Losses (69-57 Bowling Green) Ohio County is starting to play it’s best basketball of the season. They challenged a very good Bowling Green team to open their week and beat Butler on Saturday. Elijah Decker put up 27 in each game raising his season average to almost 19 ppg. They host Whitesville Trinity on Tuesday and then Mclean County on Friday. 5. Owensboro Red Devils (11-8) – SAME – Wins (85-31 Whitesville Trinity & 68-45 Apollo) Owensboro handled their business this week with 2 blowout wins. Keaton Hughes had a monster week, putting up 24 ppg in the 2 games. On the season, Dayshaun Sanders is scoring 17.8 ppg with Hughes putting up 15.9 ppg and 10.2 rpg. Will Hume and Michael Acton are each putting up double figures scoring as well. The Devils host Bowling Green on Tuesday before traveling to Owensboro Catholic Friday. Saturday they play one of the best teams in Evansville, in Harrison. 6.Grayson County Cougars (11-9) – SAME – Wins (79-42 Whitesville Trinity), Losses (76-71 Meade Co & 80-71 Butler Co) It was another uneven week for the Cougars as they fell to Meade County but bounced back with a nice showing against Butler County. While they have been inconsistent, they have shown the ability to compete with anyone in the region. Jack Logsdon and Spencer Langdon lead the team with 18 ppg on the season. They travel to Mclean County on Tuesday, return home to play Whitesville Trinity on Friday before closing the week at Breck County on Saturday. 7. Mclean County Cougars (14-7) – SAME – Wins (60-49 Hancock Co), Losses (84-77 Hopkins Co Central) Mclean has lost 5 of its last 7 games, but did get a win over Hancock County to close their week. Gunnar Revelett took home player of the game honors as he continues to average over 20 ppg. The Cougars hosts Grayson County on Tuesday before traveling to Ohio County on Friday. 8. Breckinridge County Tigers (10-10) – UP 1 – Wins (77-69 Nelson Co, 80-37 Cloverport & 71-55 Mulenberg Co) All the sudden, Breckinridge County is one of the hottest teams in the region. They have won 4 straight games and climbed back to 500. Mercer Rogers scored 20 in their double digit win over Muhlenberg County. They look to stay hot as they host South Spencer on Tuesday. They’re at Hancock County on Friday before hosting Grayson County on Saturday. 9. Apollo Eagles (11-11) – SAME – Losses (68-45 Owensboro) The young Eagles continue to fade as the season wears on. They are only 2-8 in their last 10 games. They will travel to Hancock County on Tuesday before hosting Daviess County on Friday. The Eagles close the week hosting Whitesville Trinity on Saturday. 10. Meade County Greenwave (9-12) – SAME – Wins (76-71 Grayson Co & 59-42 Hancock Co), Losses (89-42 N Hardin) The Waves ended a 3 game losing streak with back to back wins. Garrett Hardesty scored 25 and Hayden Shouse 20 in Meade’s big win over Grayson County. They beat Hancock County in a preview of the upcoming 11th district first round. They will travel to E-Town on Tuesday, host Cloverport Thursday and travel to Thomas Nelson on Friday. 11. Edmonson County Wildcats (10-11) – SAME – Wins (84-52 Whitesville Trinity), Losses (80-50 Butler Co) The Cats ended their 3 game losing streak with a district win over Trinity on Friday. Joshua Decker had 23 points and 19 boards in the win. They’re at Metcalfe County on Tuesday and host Butler County on Friday. 12. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (6-15)- DOWN 2 – Losses (63-48 Daviess Co, 71-55 Breck Co & 64-24 Evangel Christian) The Mustangs struggled against good competition this past week. Since Christmas break they have only scored 4 wins in 15 games. They host Owensboro Catholic on Tuesday, Caldwell County on Thursday and Madisonville on Friday. 13. Hancock County Hornets (8-14) – SAME – Wins (58-46 Cloverport), Losses (59-42 Meade Co & 60-49 Mclean Co) The Hornets continue to battle through their rebuild season with some success. Alex Madden has been a bright spot, scoring 25 points and pulling 14 boards against Cloverport. Dylan Morris had 20 in the win. They play a pair of home games this week as they host Apollo Tuesday before Breck County on Friday. 14. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (1-20) – SAME – Losses (85-31 Owensboro, 79-42 Grayson, 84-52 Edmonson & 69-60 Evansville Day, IN) The Raiders have had a rough rebuild this season but competed well on Saturday in a tough loss to Evansville Day. Hayden Aull scored 19 in defeat. They have a 3 game road swing this week at Ohio County, Grayson County and Apollo. 15. Cloverport Aces (2-17) – SAME – Losses (68-46 Hancock, 80-37 Breck Co & 71-50 FT Campbell) The Aces host the Ky School of the Deaf Tuesday before traveling to Meade on Thursday. They will play host to Brown on Saturday.

The Bears host Edmonson County on Monday, Franklin Simpson on Tuesday and Grayson on Friday before playing Barren County at the Sportscenter on Saturday. 2. Daviess County Panthers (16-4) – SAME – Wins (68-51 Meade & 85-27 Ft Campbell) Daviess County continues to win against teams with lesser talent. They handled Meade County and Ft Campbell this week. DeAaron Watkins averaged 17ppg in the wins. The Panthers host Muhlenberg Tuesday before traveling to Owensboro Catholic on Friday. Saturday they will take on Evansville North, IN. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (13-4) - SAME – Wins (69-54 Grayson), Losses (72-54 Lyon) The Aces got a nice 3rd Region win over Grayson County on Tuesday before falling to Lyon Co on Thursday in the All-A State Tournament. Luke Beickman scored 26 in the win over Grayson. The Aces look to get back on track at Webster Monday before hosting Daviess County in a big 9th district showdown on Friday. They will travel to Warren Central to take on St X on Saturday. 4. Ohio County Eagles (10-10) – UP 1 – Wins (70-55 Mclean & 82-63 Green Co), Losses (64-63 Warren East) The Eagles are the first team to punch their ticket to the regional tournament after beating Mclean County on Tuesday. They bounced back from a 1 point loss to Warren East with a blowout win over Green County on Saturday. They travel to Bowling Green on Tuesday before playing Louisville Butler at the Sportscenter on Saturday. 5. Owensboro Red Devils (9-8) – SAME – Losses(78-66 Evansville Bosse, IN) The Devils came up short in their tough test against Evansville Bosse this week but the Devils continue to test themselves with a tough schedule. Keaton Hughes had a monster game in defeat with 23 points and 17 boards. They travel to Whitesville Trinity on Tuesday before Apollo on Friday. 6.Grayson County Cougars (10-7) – UP 1 – Wins (61-52 Apollo & 65-50 Edmonson Co), Losses (69-54 Owensboro Catholic) Grayson County opened the week with a tough loss to Catholic before bouncing back with 2 nice wins against Apollo and Edmonson County. Tayden Logsdon has entered the lineup and given a big lift to the young Cougars. The Cougars are at Meade on Tuesday and Trinity on Friday before traveling to Butler County for a big district showdown on Saturday. 7. Mclean County Cougars (13-6) – DOWN 1 – Wins (79-42 Crittenden Co), Losses (70-55 Ohio Co & 56-54 Muhlenberg Co) The Cougars had a tough week inside the 10th district, falling to Ohio County on Tuesday before losing a heartbreaker against Muhlenberg on Friday. Mclean is now 0-3 in district play. They did bounce back with a win over Crittenden on Saturday. Gunnar Revelett is still averaging 20 ppg. Mclean travels to Hopkins Central on Thursday before playing Hancock at the Sportscenter on Saturday. 8. They return home to host Muhlenberg on Friday, 10. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (6-12)- UP 2 – Losses (55-36 Owensboro & 71-63 Ohio Co) The Mustangs had a tough week against good competition. They fell to the Red Devils early in the week in the Heritage game at Central City gym before falling in district action to Ohio Co. Madox Jernigan continued his nice start, putting 18 ppg on average in the two defeats. The Eagles head to the Smokey Mountains this week to play in their Christmas Classic. 11. Edmonson County Wildcats (9-10) – DOWN 2 – Losses (52-41 Hart & 65-50 Grayson) The Wildcats suffered a couple of setbacks this week. Joshua Decker put up a double double in the loss to Grayson County with 14 points and 10 boards. The Cats are at Butler County on Monday before traveling to Whitesville Trinity on Friday. 12. With only 5 weeks left in the regular season, Mother nature has put a big damper on January. Most teams in the region have not played a game for nearly 2 weeks. Owensboro shocked the region with a home win over Daviess County on Friday. In back to back weeks the Devils have shown they can beat anyone in the region and are not to be counted out. Butler County returns to the top of the rankings but need to start getting games under their belt. They have 6 district games left to play and only 5 weeks to get them in. Owensboro Catholic and Ohio County are both capable of having a big postseason. The Aces have won 10 straight as they get ready to head off to the All-A classic this week. Ohio County has a chance to clinch the number 1 seed in district play and punch their ticket to the regional tournament with a win over Mclean on Tuesday. Speaking of the Cougars, they have a big opportunity this week with district games against Ohio and Muhlenberg. Keep an eye on Grayson County as Tayden Logsdon should be entering their lineup soon. Mclean County Cougars (12-4) – SAME – DNP The Cougars have not played since the 11th but will have a big set of home games this week. They are tentatively set to host Ohio County on Tuesday to make-up Friday’s cancelation. They will play Muhlenberg on Friday before hosting Crittenden County on Saturday. 7. Grayson County Cougars (8-6) – SAME – DNP The Cougars have been off for over 2 weeks now as they have not played since the 5th. Transfer Tayden Logsdon should be in the lineup for the first time all year in the next few games. He put up almost 14 ppg at Caverna last season. They host Owensboro Catholic tonight, Apollo tomorrow and Edmonson County on Friday. 8. Number of schools per region... 1st = 15, 2nd = 16, 3rd = 15, 4th = 18, 5th = 19, 6th = 20, 7th = 22, 8th = 19, 9th = 21, 10th = 16, 11th = 19, 12th = 19, 13th = 17, 14th = 17, 15th = 15, 16th = 16 Seems like the schools in the central part(6th-9th) of the state could push out to the east and west and even the number of teams in each region. 14. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (1-14) – SAME – Losses (65-37 Edmonson Co) The Raiders travel to Muhlenberg on Tuesday before hosting Grayson County on Friday. 15. Cloverport Aces (1-14) – SAME – Wins (60-36 Cannelton, IN), Losses (92-32 Apollo) The Aces got their first win over the season over Cannelton. Cole Weatherholt led the Aces with 21 points. Emery Dorcey scored 19 and pulled 10 boards. They host Breck County on Friday before traveling to Dawson Springs on Saturday. My Apologies that last weeks rankings got cut off. 1. Daviess County Panthers (14-3) – SAME – Wins (63-50 Breck Co & 76-42 Apollo) The Panthers ran their win streak to 11 games this week. Gage Phelps scored his 1000th point recently and led the Panthers with 22 against Apollo and 21 against Breck. The big showdown with Butler County for tonight is canceled due to weather but they will travel to Owensboro for a big district game on Friday. 2. Butler County Bears (7-6) – SAME – Wins (76-49 Greenwood), Losses (89-79 Christ Presbyterian TN) The Bears up and down season against good competition continued this week as they fell to a below 500 Christ Presbyterian team on Saturday. Lawson Rice posted a double double against Greenwood. He scored 24 and had 12 boards. The Bears had their Friday game against Grayson County postponed due to weather. Their showdown with Daviess County that was scheduled for tonight has also been postponed. They will host Edmonson County on Friday. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (11-3) - SAME – Wins (64-53 Mclean Co, 62-58 Owensboro & 69-53 Station Camp, TN) The Aces have now won 9 straight games, including the All-A 3rd Region Championship last Monday. Luke Beickman scored 26 to lead them to the title. On Friday, they rallied from 11 down in the final minutes to stun Owensboro. Tutt Carrico hit the game winner with just a few seconds left on the clock. The Aces look to stay hot at Ohio County tomorrow before hosting Apollo on Friday. 4. Ohio County Eagles (8-9) – UP 3 – Wins (61-51 Muhlenberg Co & 62-40 Meade Co) With their backs against the wall, the Eagles had their best week of the season. They moved to 2-0 in district play with a nice win over Muhlenberg on Friday and followed that up with a 22 point win over a Meade County team that had been playing better. Ohio looks to stay hot with 2 tough games this week. They will host Owensboro Catholic on Tuesday before traveling to Mclean County Friday. 5. Mclean County Cougars (12-4) – DOWN 1 – Losses (64-53 Owensboro Cath & 62-46 Union Co) It was a rough week for the Cougars as they are really missing their 2nd leading scorer in Brodie Cline. He is scheduled to return to the line-up sometime next week. In the meantime, they will host Ohio County in a huge 10th district matchup on Friday. An Ohio Co win will all but assure them the 1 seed in district. 6. Owensboro Red Devils (8-7) – DOWN 1 – Wins (72-59 Webster Co), Losses (62-58 Owensboro Cath) The Devils had their 3 game streak snapped on Friday, suffering a tough district loss to Owensboro Catholic. OHS controlled the game until the final 3 minutes where they let the game slip away. Keaton Hughes put up a monster double double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Sanders led the way with 18. Owensboro travels to Evansville Bosse, IN on Tuesday before hosting Daviess County in a district showdown on Friday. 7. Grayson County Cougars (8-6) – DOWN 1 – Off The Cougars had their lone game of the week against Butler County canceled due to weather. A pair of freshman lead the Cougars in scoring as Jack Logsdon is sitting at 20 ppg and Spencer Langdon is scoring 19.1 ppg. They will host Central Hardin on Tuesday before traveling to Whitesville Trinity on Friday. 8. Apollo Eagles (10-7) – SAME – Wins (92-32 Cloverport), Losses (76-42 Daviess Co) The Young Eagles seem to be hitting a wall here in the middle part of the season as they have lost 4 of their last 5 games. They will look to get back on track as they host Breck County on Tuesday before traveling to red hot Owensboro Catholic on Friday. 9. Edmonson County Wildcats (9-8) – UP 1 – Wins (60-45 Logan Co & 65-37 Whitesville Trinity) The Wildcats bounced back this week and erased a 3 game losing streak with tough wins. Joshua Decker had a monster game against Logan County, scoring 18 points and pulling 14 rebounds. He followed that up with another double double against Trinity on Saturday with 11 points and 11 rebounds. They look to stay hot as they travel to Knights Christian in Owensboro before traveling to Butler County on Friday. 10. Breckinridge County Tigers (6-9) – UP 1 – Losses (63-50 Daviess Co) The Tigers have struggled a bit after Christmas, losing 4 of 5 games. Mercer Rogers has been a bright spot as he is putting up 28 ppg over the past 2 weeks. They will travel to Apollo on Tuesday before closing the week at Cloverport. 11. Meade County Greenwave (6-9) – UP 1 – Wins (John Hardin), Losses (62-40 Ohio Co) The Waves opened the week with a big win over John Hardin. Garrett Hardesty scored 25 and pulled 10 boards while Hayden Shouse added 24. Meade has a pair of home games this week against Green County and Hancock County. 12. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (5-11) – DOWN 2 – Losses (61-51 Ohio Co & 58-41 Graves Co) The Mustangs have not been able to follow up the momentum of their big win over Grayson County to open the 2nd half of the season. They have now lost 7 of their last 8 games. They host Whitesville Trinity on Tuesday before hosting Caldwell and East Robertson, TN this weekend. 13. Hancock County Hornets (6-9) – SAME – Wins (47-39 Tell City, IN) The Hornets notched another win this week, knocking off Tell City with a big 2nd half effort. Dylan Morris led the way with 18. Alex Madden scored 13 and pulled 14 boards. They’re at Whitefield Academy on Tuesday before traveling to Meade for a district contest on Friday.

There is finally a change at the top of the rankings this week with Daviess County taking the top spot. It is a tough move, because Butler County has played a much tougher schedule. 4 of the Bears 5 losses has come against top 25 level competition. Owensboro Catholic is starting to come together and are one of the hottest teams in the region. They will face Mclean County in the All-A Regional Championship tonight. Even with their regular season struggles with injury, the Ohio County Eagles still should factor into tournament time but are struggling to find consistency in the lineup and on the floor. Owensboro remains a team to watch as they get more varsity experience under their belts. 1. Daviess County Panthers (12-3) – UP 1 – Wins (74-68 Ohio Co) The Panthers have won 9 straight games including a big regional win over Ohio County on Thursday. Jonathan Moss stayed red hot, scoring 25. Jaxon Brown, DaArron Watkins and Aydan Ayer were all in double figures. DC looks to keep it rolling this week as they travel to Breck County on Tuesday before hosting Apollo on Friday. 2. Butler County Bears (6-5) – DOWN 1 – Losses (82-79 St X) The Bears challenged St X before falling short on Saturday. It was a great showing against one of the best teams in the state. Ty Price led the way with 27 while Rice chipped in 22. Justin Castlen and Briar Griffin were both in double figures. Butler hosts Greenwood on Tuesday before traveling to Grayson County Friday for district action. The Bears close the week with Christ Presbyterian out of Nashville. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (8-3) - UP 1 – Wins (51-28 Hancock Co, 95-39 Cloverport & 67-49 Madisonville) Owensboro Catholic has reeled off 6 straight wins and have now won 8 of their last 9 games. They defeated Hancock and Cloverport to move to the finals of the All-A regional tonight. On Saturday they avenged an overtime loss to Madisonville in a big way, winning by 18. Luke Beickman led the way with 25. Solly Smith had 15. The Aces challenge McLean for the All-A regional title tonight before traveling to Owensboro on Friday. They wrap up their week against Station Camp, TN on Saturday. 4. Mclean County Cougars (12-2) – DOWN 1 – Wins (59-45 Whitesville Trinity) The Cougars got a semifinal win in the All-A classic over Trinity in their lone game this week. They will challenge the red hot Owensboro Catholic Aces in the championship before finishing the week at Union County this week. 5. Owensboro Red Devils (7-6) – UP 2 – Wins (81-65 Breck Co & 67-50 Greenwood) The young Red Devils are showing some flashes of turning the corner with 2 nice wins this week. Dayshaun Sanders has been the leader all season, putting up 18 ppg but it is players like Will Hume, Michael Acton and Marcus Holden who have flashed more consistency lately. The Devils host Webster County tomorrow before a big district contest against Owensboro Catholic on Friday. 6. Grayson County Cougars (8-6) – DOWN 1 – Wins (70-66 Holmes), Losses (79-71 OT Muhlenberg) The Cougars up and down season continued this week as they lost a tough overtime game to Muhlenberg County before bouncing back with a nice win over Holmes on Friday. Spencer Langdon continued his hot scoring streak with 19. Brody Armstrong and Jack Logsdon scored 18 and 17 respectively. Grayson hosts Butler County in district action on Friday. 7. Ohio County Eagles (6-9) – DOWN 1 – Wins (67-64 Glasgow), Losses (74-68 Daviess Co) Through the first half of the season, the Eagles biggest opponent has been their own health. Carson Kennedy and Caleb Manning both missed games this week but the Eagles bounced back from a loss to Daviess County with a close win over Glasgow. The Eagles look to get to 2-0 in 10th district play on Friday as travel to Muhlenberg County. They will host Meade County on Saturday. 8. Apollo Eagles (9-6) – SAME – Losses (69-64 OT Cumberland Co)

It was a rough holiday season for the region as a whole. The 3rd has not shown it can compete at a state level though the first month of the season. Butler County battled injury and illness through their marquee schedule and will look to fair better vs top teams in the back half of the season. Daviess County has been the most impressive team early in the year, but have not played the schedule that Butler County or Ohio County have played. Mclean County has shown the ability to beat the teams they should and added a highlight win over Breathitt County during the holiday season. Owensboro Catholic has started to turn the corner with their football guys getting into basketball shape. Coach Riley has his team playing to their expectation as of late. Grayson County is full of big time freshman contributors and should get even better when Tayden Logsdon becomes available later this month. They are an early season dark horse to make a run at a regional title. Owensboro and Apollo are working through youth and varsity inexperience but both have shown flashes early on. 1. Butler County Bears (6-4) – SAME – Wins (81-56 Carlisle Co) The Bears returned from the King of the Bluegrass with a win over Carslile County at the Sportscenter. Ty Price led the way with 29 while Lawson Rice added a double double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. The Bears will look to start 2024 fully healthy and try to go wire to wire at this top of this poll. Price is one of the states top scorers at 27 ppg. Rice is averaging an impressive double double with nearly 19 ppg and 11 rpg. The Bears face St X in McCracken Co in their lone game this week. 2. Daviess County Panthers (11-3) – SAME – Wins (72-43 Glasgow, 61-56 Franklin Simpson & 49-44 Portland, TN) Daviess County has established itself as the most consistent team in the region through the first month. While they have not played the schedule of the other teams at the top, they continue to beat all of the teams they should. Jonathan Moss had a great holiday season, scoring in the 20’s most nights. The Panthers have 4 players in double figures scoring per game. Along with Moss, Gage Phelps, DeAaron Watkins and Jaxon Brown are all putting up double digits. Daviess County travels to Ohio County on Thursday in their lone game of the week. 3. Mclean County Cougars (11-2) – UP 2 – Wins (75-72 Breathitt Co) The Cougars got a very impressive win over Breathitt County in their lone game this week. Gunnar Revelett led the way with 30 while Jax Lee knocked down 6 3’s. On the season, Revelett is putting up right at 20 ppg. The Cougars look to stay hot this week as they open All-A tournament play against Whitesville Trinity. 4. Owensboro Catholic Aces (5-3) - UP 3 – Wins (54-47 Christian Co & 65-48 Rock Creek) Since starting the season 0-2, the Aces have won 5 out of 6 and are starting to get their basketball legs under them. Luke Biekman who has been nursing a hand injury is starting to get healthy and putting up right at 20 points per game. Tutt Carrico and Waryn Eblhar are also scoring in double figures. The Aces open All-A tournament play against Hancock County tomorrow before hosting Madisonville this weekend. 5. Grayson County Cougars (7-5) – UP 3 – Wins (81-65 Paducah Tilghman & 73-65 Apollo), Losses (64-62 Logan Co) It has been a bit of an uneven start for the young Cougars but they have shown flashes of being one of the better teams in this region. Freshmen lead the way with Jack Logsdon scoring 22 ppg and Spencer Langdon putting up nearly 17. Brody Armstrong is off to a nice start as well, scoring right at 12 ppg. They should be getting the services of transfer Tayden Logsdon sometime this month as well. The Cougars host Muhlenberg County and Holmes this week. 6. Ohio County Eagles (5-8) – DOWN 3 – Losses (76-59 Ashland, 76-70 Martin Co & 61-47 Butler) The Eagles had a rough stretch during the holidays, losing 5 straight games to good competition. Elijah Decker and Carter Young lead the team in scoring with 17 ppg each. They will look to get back on track this week as they host Daviess County on Thursday before traveling to Bowling Green to take on Glasgow. 7. Owensboro Red Devils (5-6) – DOWN 3 – Wins (74-59 Ballard Memorial), Losses (73-61 Henry Clay & 68-53 Evansville Memorial) The young Red Devils have been competitive through the holiday season but do not have many wins to show for it. They are led by Dayshaun Sanders 18.4 ppg. Keaton Hughes is right at double double numbers with 13.7 ppg and 9.8 rpg. The Devils host Breck tomorrow before traveling to Bowling Green to take on Greenwood this weekend. 8. Apollo Eagles (9-5) – DOWN 2 – Wins (62-44 Dawson Springs), Losses (56-43 Northwest, TN & 73-65 Grayson Co) The Young Eagles had a nice run of wins during the Holiday season, running their winning streak to 5 games before losing the final 2 games in Logan County. Kobe Kelly, Luke Jarboe and Tate Powers are all averaging double figures scoring this season. The Eagles are at Cumberland County on Saturday. 9. Edmonson County Wildcats (7-7) – UP 1 – Wins (52-45 Campbellsville), Losses (53-40 East Jessamine & 72-52 Barren Co) The Wildcats had an up and down holiday season and enter the 2nd half of the season at 500. Wyatt Gravil, Lane Ashley and Will Alexander are all averaging double figure scoring and Joshua Decker is right at double double number with 9 points and 9 rebounds per game. The Cats are at Breck County this week. 10. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (4-8) – DOWN 1 – Losses (65-41 Henderson Co, 70-51 Breathitt Co & 81-49 Greenwood) After a solid start to the season, the Mustangs have lost 7 of their last 8 games. Issac Coats who played well early on has not played the last handful of games. Madox Jernigan has scored right at 18 ppg on the season. The Mustangs are at Grayson and Crittenden County this week. 11. Breckinridge County Tigers (5-7) – SAME – Losses (72-59 Greenwood & 72-53 Carlisle Co) The Tigers have lost 4 of 5 over the holidays. Mercer Rogers leads the team with 13 points per game. Breck travels to Owensboro tomorrow and hosts Edmonson County on Friday. 12. Meade County Greenwave (5-7) – SAME – Wins (68-58 Lincoln Co, TN) Losses (49-36 Davey Crockett, TN & 71-56 Highleah, FL) The Waves went 3-3 over the holiday season. Garrett Hardesty is putting up 16 ppg on the season. The first half of the season has been a bit of a disappointment for the Waves but should still be one of the favorites inside the 11th district. Meade travels to Campbellsville in their lone game this week. 13. Hancock County Hornets (5-8) – SAME – Wins (63-47 Knights Christian), Losses (39-28 Rock Creek, IN) The inexperienced Hornets continue to grind out games and improve. Alex Madden is one of the top rebounders in the region and is averaging right at a double double every game. They will face Owensboro Catholic in the All-A Tournament this week. 14. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (1-12) – SAME – Losses (76-40 Shawnee, 57-38 Lou Collegiate & 60-52 Burgin) Hayden Aull leads the Raiders at 14.4 ppg. They will face Mclean County in the All-A regional opener this week. 15. Cloverport Aces (0-12) – SAME – Losses (66-35 Eminence, 69-41 Villa Madona & 61-46 Whitefield Academy) Cole Weatherholt leads the team with 16.8 ppg. The Aces open All-A tournament play this week.
