Thanks for the kind words ESPNDeux and HRCarrier. We have come a long way in the past few years with DYF. But it's definitely not just me we have had an amazing group of board members of over the past few years and really have pooled together a great group of coaches. We are still striving to get better.
As far as our football numbers in general the last few years we have been over 100+ kids (5yr-14yr), kind of building from the younger and working them up. This is the first year we have been eligible to compete at every NKYFL level in the history of DYF including starters, midgets, peewee, juniors, junior youth, & seniors.
KentuckyJoe just to clarify a bit, I think the reason your grandsons teams has such a disparity is because we were able to add those extra levels to get more playing time. In the past couple years since there was no peewee or junior youth we were up in the mid 20's per team, but when we got up to the 30 range we were able to split those teams in half and add the extra levels to add playing time. It's a blessing and a curse LOL. Until we get over the 30-35 hump at each level, that's when I will start to feel safe at about 18 kids per team, that would be great to maximize the playing time and still have sufficient numbers.
As far as this year we have had some great success, our starters are rolling and head to the Tiger Bowl tonight to start there "playoff" run. Our Midgets are 3-0 in division play, and juniors are 2-1 in division play. Looking forward to the second half of the season.
