  1. There will not be a true NKYFL senior division. Like discussed before, everyone involved knew this was coming and honestly have looked at options over the last couple seasons as to adapting the league. Highlands will play the Norseman Conference. Dayton & Bellevue NKMSSA going forward. Red Devils & Bengal Tigers are still in the process of deciding which way to go with their senior programs. As far as the NKYFL, the divisions will still be starters, midgets, juniors, along with more teams than ever fielding midget youth, and junior youth so I see those levels continuing to grow. The league is also in the process of phasing in the new school age cut off (Aug 1). The goal being to make sure kids are aligning more with their grade level throughout. The original may 1st date aligned with baseball, but doesn’t make much sense anymore as the league has transitioned more towards school feeders and now eventually Middle school feeders.
  2. To the question from before, Dayton & Bellevue will field a combined team this season, sponsored by the newly formed River City Football organization. (Formerly DYF & BYF). After this season when the schools have a full year to plan and when there are expected much better numbers for each team the schools will be taking on true separate Middle School programs. It will be a good move for both schools programs.
  3. Newport looks like one of them, because now they are showing them staying in 2A.
  4. #22 for Beechwood 8th is lethal from 3. My son played for Dayton in 6th grade now at HT, pretty sure he put the game winner in on them in the championship that year. Tonight was at least 3-4 if not 4-5 from 3 against HT. Tonight was a physical game by both sides. I’d like to see what happens if both bigs don’t get into foul trouble early. Iles for HT and Riley for Beechwood both caught cheap ones early. Either way two great teams, I think Beechwood is a little deeper which definitely helped tonight.
  5. Great game, Beechwood shot really well, HT no so well. I don’t think there was a bigger league than 5 all night. Wouldn’t be surprised if this one is played against next week in the tourney championship.
  6. Holy Trinity vs Beechwood 8th grade tomorrow at 9pm at NCC. Should be another good one.
  7. I’ve been told by a few HS coaches this is definitely a sought after job and many have already inquired about it. The obvious hurdle will be the pay & retirement differences from public to private. I think in the end they have some options, but wouldn’t be surprised if they go with a completely fresh face.
  8. Thanks for the kind words ESPNDeux and HRCarrier. We have come a long way in the past few years with DYF. But it's definitely not just me we have had an amazing group of board members of over the past few years and really have pooled together a great group of coaches. We are still striving to get better. As far as our football numbers in general the last few years we have been over 100+ kids (5yr-14yr), kind of building from the younger and working them up. This is the first year we have been eligible to compete at every NKYFL level in the history of DYF including starters, midgets, peewee, juniors, junior youth, & seniors. KentuckyJoe just to clarify a bit, I think the reason your grandsons teams has such a disparity is because we were able to add those extra levels to get more playing time. In the past couple years since there was no peewee or junior youth we were up in the mid 20's per team, but when we got up to the 30 range we were able to split those teams in half and add the extra levels to add playing time. It's a blessing and a curse LOL. Until we get over the 30-35 hump at each level, that's when I will start to feel safe at about 18 kids per team, that would be great to maximize the playing time and still have sufficient numbers. As far as this year we have had some great success, our starters are rolling and head to the Tiger Bowl tonight to start there "playoff" run. Our Midgets are 3-0 in division play, and juniors are 2-1 in division play. Looking forward to the second half of the season.
