  1. NCC Freshman class is solid... Pangallo, Iles, Baggett should all be getting JV minutes this year. Several other good players in the class, very athletic with good size. Jefferson, Kremer, Mullikin, & Highlands transfer Salter will lead the Varsity program.
  2. I’m not positive how many teams they wound up with at each level. From the numbers I’ve been given it looks like they are at 1 starter team, 3 Midget teams, 4 junior teams. Obviously those will rotate into the Nkyfl schedule, so they can play a full slate each weekend (starter, Midget, m youth, junior, j youth). Their regular season games will not count for records, as they will be sending a different team each week it will be treated as a non divisional game. In the Nkyfl playoffs, their two league winners ( midgets & juniors) will go into the Nkyfl playoff as the automatic #5 seed this season.
  3. Fort Thomas is being recognized this year as a member of the NKYFL. They will pay league fees and have voting rights within the league. They will however have a modified schedule as both sides are still working together to align teams / rules better for scheduling. For this season Fort Thomas will play a full slate of NKYFL games each week. (Starters, midget youth, midgets, junior youth, juniors). They will just rotate weekly which FTJFL plays in that slot. At season end FTJFL will hold their own inner league playoff, their champion will be eligible to compete in the NKYFL post season. Their starts will also compete in the starter bowl (Tiger Bowl). Overall the progress and partnership between both leagues has been great these last couple years. Growing pains like anything else. But like adding Boone & Cooper to the NKYFL it is working itself out. Which I think is great for NKY football as a whole.
  4. Freshman Regional Semi-Finals New Cath vs Cov Cath Beechwood vs Conner
  5. Yes, and they will be 7th grade heavy which is a good thing to build on these first couple years. They should have a solid team.
  6. Looks like NCC & CovCath may not get one in until Regionals unless a make up is scheduled. Got bumped today for a Varsity game. NCC is battling a couple injuries to a couple starters. They have Campbell tomorrow.
  7. The rain outs continue, NCC sits at 8-3. Any other updated records?
  8. Early in the season with a lot of rainouts, but Who is looking good in NKY? NCC is 4-2, bats have came alive this week. 33 runs in 3 games this week. Young talent 8 - 8th Graders, 8 - Freshman
  9. Their father is also on staff at Dayton as a Varsity asst. . Great guys, doing well for the players at Dayton trying to get things heading in the right direction again.
  10. 7th Grade- SPP over St Joes by 1 8th Grade- BS over HT by 4 Both great games that were contested to the very end. Unfortunately both the teams I was pulling were on the wrong side of them. But congrats to all involved !
  11. Holy Trinity advances in 8th Grade over St. Pius. I believe they will play Blessed Sacrament, they were up big.
  12. Followed on here, seemed like a great game. Thanks Qryche for the updates!
  13. I’d say possibly best two in almost every game with Pangallo & Iles.
  14. HT is 21-4. Undefeated in league play, bigger wins over Visitation (OH), a couple other OH parishes, Woodland, Gray. Losses to Woodland first game of the season, Beechwood twice (once in OT), Guardian Angel (OH). Small school, but talented team.
  15. Ryle has continued to be one of the programs that’s stayed as close to possible as a true feeder for the HS from the lower levels all the way up. They have been building a great program in the NKYFL, MS, & Varsity. Honestly including them, the other Boone teams now , and CCYFL has helped us push the entire NKYFL more towards being school feeders as a whole.
  16. Several years ago the Catholic schools could get any good they wanted to play in the NKMSSA as long as they belonged a parish. Then it was changed that they actually had to go to a private school to play got them. My guess is if they came back to the NKMSSA they would be under the same guidelines as before that they had to go to a private school to play for them. As far as the Boone County schools I think the hangover there is they base their teams on high school District, and not the actual middle school they go to. So the Ryle team has Grey and Ockerman kids. Boone has Ockerman and RA Jones, etc. instead of just have a RA Jones MS team, an Ockerman MS team, etc. The NKMSSA besides the private is opposite instead having a SK MS team made up of twenhofle and woodland kids. They actually draw from the specific MS not based on where the kid intends to go for HS.
  17. No ill will towards popcorn. 😁 I just don’t think they will wind up in the Norseman conference, I don’t think it’s a great fit for them as a program. New Cath will need to build the MS back up and will probably start that with lower numbers I’d say 20’s or so. Those schools in the Norseman conference are all 5-6A schools with much higher numbers. They will also have both 7th & 8th grade teams for each school which I doubt NCC will be able to provide. On top of that the Norsemen conference is probably going to allow Highlands the rights to have players from both St Thomas and St Catherine which is in direct competition to NCC trying to rebuild their program. In the end I just think the NKMSSA would be a better fit. With 3 divisions of teams , and more teams in their weight class with while they rebuild.
  18. That’s the one I was thinking, not NKY sports. But yes I agree it will be different without Dan around.
  19. Great scene last night as Dan Frank was recognized for his years of commitment to Dayton & NKY athletics. This will be his last season with DHS, where he has served as a manager/coach in multiple sports for 45 years. 3X Hall of Fame’r (NKY Sports, Softball City, & DHS). He will be missed on the sidelines of Dayton sports!
  20. With the Red Devils not fielding a senior team I think it is perfect timing for NCC to revamp their MS program. With everyone going to MS leagues in NKY this year it leaves a lot of future Breds that in private middle schools without another place to go. I wish the NCC program luck!
  21. Yeah, with all the changes going on I think this is the perfect time for Newport Central Catholic to get their program back running. That will ensure all the private school kids who intend on attending NCC have a feeder to play for.
  22. I’m sorry, to answer the other part the league has grown. Official members are River City (DYF & BYF) , Red Devils, Newport, Campbell County Youth, Spartans, Ludlow, Bengal Tigers, Taylor Mill, Erlanger, South Kenton, Bandits, Union Raiders, Walton. The league has a working relationship with Boone County, Cooper, Fort Thomas, Grant who all competed in the league last year. But are not official member organizations.
