I've always said when you have the horses for a "National" type schedule i.e. like last season it does help you improve, competitive in every game, when you don't as in '13 it can definitely run you down, no doubt, it's a tricky thing

The national perception is out and that's fine, doesn't bother me a bit, I'm fine with the schedule.

The Shamrocks will play eight of 10 regular season games against teams from the Bluegrass State for the next two seasons. The change is due, in large part, to the team being redistricted into Class 6A-District Four with Jeffersontown (KY), Eastern (Louisville, KY), Seneca (Louisville, KY), and Ballard (Louisville, KY). Trinity won the 2011 National Championship largely on the back of bettering Brentwood Academy, Montgomery Bell Academy (Nashville, TN), Elder (Cincinnati, OH), St. Xavier (Cincinnati, OH), Indianapolis Cathedral (IN), and Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati, OH) much more so than its romp through Kentucky foes. The Shamrocks have been the most decorated team from Kentucky for decades and has been a regular finisher inside the HSFB100. In 2008 the team was ranked No. 39; in 2009 the team finished unranked before climbing back to No. 67 in 2010. The group then pushed to the National Title in 2011 before sliding off that pace in 2012 to finish No. 25 . It went unranked in 2013 and despite being 10-5 in 2014 the team avenged many of its losses down the stretch to win another title and be ranked No. 68. The Shamrocks could enter the 2015 season without a prospect holding an offer for the first time in six years. It will return defensive end Connor Foos and athlete Rodjay Burns who each could end the year committed to play on Saturday.

The thing that a lot of people don't know about the Highlands/Trinity scrimmage the last few years is that they only play 3 Quarters and then they get the backups & young guys out there for an hour or so to get a look at them. Last season they had 2 sets of offense vs defense going against each other on both sides of the field for maximum reps and of course they film the entire thing to go over later. So the short answer to your question is Yes, both teams get a lot out of this, the score does not really matter, sad to see this thing not get renewed.

I read somewhere that he moved from Connecticut but was a highly ranked player up there and has just gotten lost in the shuffle with the move, but the kid can really play, that's obvious

That LB Connor John kid is a heckuva player & he looks like he has the size & speed to play D1 as well, does he have any offers?? Someone will get a good one there, I was extremely impressed by him.

I myself find this schedule a little bit of a relief.... something like 12 out of our 16 games this past season including the Highlands scrimmage were ROAD games. Although I think the schedule beat us down in '13 it equally helped us in '14 & made us better because we had more experience on the squad. I won't mind not having to travel as much this season & it's still a great schedule no matter what anyone thinks, i guess I just see all sides of it.

Isn't that always necessary in order to have a successful season?? lol, no doubt the senior starters we had this past season were special & led the way, was the key for our success.

There are 5 Junior Olinemen that have been starters or have started at one point returning, 5 Junior WR's that are starters or have started returning, Junior starter RB Jalen Reed returning, even the anticipated starter at QB that was a soph this past season Larry Harper Jr has a few varsity starts under his belt. On D, there aren't as many but at least 6 that started are returning, D will be solid.

Wow, I am very disappointed in this news, I really enjoyed my trip to Highlands this past season & the annual scrimmage.... With that being said, why not scrimmage Simon Kenton?! Nothing to lose for either team, just a scrimmage & it's great competition to prepare for the season! :thumb:

Trinity has quite a bit coming back, Junior class was strong. By my count we have 9-10 returning starters back on offense & 6-7 on defense. Should be strong in '15.

Lafayette has 2 D1 Oline prospects, 1 of which is committed to UK who wil be a senior & the other who will be a junior holds 3 offers including UK, not surprised they are willing to play the Rocks, should be a good one.

The kid that got slighted in my humble opinion from Louisville Trinity is Landon Corolla, although he made 2nd team AP & 3rd team CJ there's no way this kid isn't 1st team on any ballot anywhere, led Trinity in tackles etc, was a nightmare to block for anyone, and I'm not his dad, uncle, relative or anyone, just a huge Rock fan! Congrats to every kid mentioned!!

Interesting, even an All-Catholic football team has some guys I think were overlooked, just goes to show that no list is going to be perfect, congrats to all those mentioned! The Louisville Catholic Sports Network All-Catholic Teams recognize student-athletes who played at the top level during the regular and postseasons within their sport. Players are selected based on nominations and feedback from local coaches and the Louisville Catholic Sports Network staff that covered the teams during the 2014 season. Another historic football season has come to a close as DeSales and Trinity returned home with state championships. This is the first time two Louisville Catholic schools have won state championships in the season. DeSales won its second straight Class 2-A state title blanking Newport Central Catholic 26-0 and finished the season with a 14-1 record. The Colts are 28-2 over the last two seasons. Trinity crushed Dixie Heights 47-14 in the 6-A title game to win its 11th state championship in the past 15 seasons. The Rocks went 1-2 in district play in the regular season losing to Male and St. Xavier but went on a revenge tour to beat both schools in back to back weeks during the postseason. St. Xavier had a successful season beating Trinity 35-21 in the regular season for their first win in the series since 2009. The Tigers season came to a close in the 6-A quarterfinals with a heartbreaking 9-3 loss to Trinity. Holy Cross went 8-4 which included a seven game winning streak as the Cougars enjoyed their winningest season since 2011. The Cougars season came to an end with a 47-18 loss to Russellville in the second round of the Class A playoff. Here is this year’s team, the players are listed in alphabetical order.
