He has 2 seasons to achieve this and has been in the gym but Darius is cut up and stronger than what he appears to be. He has heart, determination, drive and will! 5 to 10 pounds of muscle would really make him a handful to deal with.

Lazy? Malik Dow is lazy? I dont think so! I payed close attention to Malik Dow over the weekend and to me he doesn't seem happy playing with Hoop Dreams anymore. Dow is a slasher, super athletic and likes to get up and down the floor. His ball handling does need work but he can beat his man off the wing with 1 to 2 dribbles due to his explosive first step. He can hit the 10-15ft jump shot. Maybe not consistently but you have to respect it. Coach Mike Scott has changed up the offense and I don't think Malik is feeling the new style of play. It could be that the offense no longer flows through him or the style of play and pace is just too boring. Of all the players I saw in the tournament, he was the only kid that looked like he wasn't having any fun on the court. In my opinion, Dow simply does't fit with this team. I just feel Dow's potential and strengths are not being maximized by Coach Scott. Dow has been with Hoop Dreams for 6 years but with good AAU programs such as The Ville, Louisville Magic and the KY Heat (just to name a few) based in his hometown Louisville, makes me wonder how long he'll stay with the HD program. I will not be surprised if he jumps ship.

Outstanding performances from Darius Williams and DJ Tyree. Down 18 to the KY Elite in this one, Williams and Tyree(Columbus Ohio) led a charge that KY Elite could not stop. Neither could be kept out of the paint as the constantly got basket over and over. This game featured a matchup between two the top sophmores in the state, Williams and Eli Wright. Eli Wright did his thing but Darius Williams really took it to him. One on one Darius Williams is nearly impossible to stop. His full repertoir was on display. He ended up with 26 in this one. DJ Tyree dropped 20 in 4th quarter on KY Elite. This Louisville Magic 16u team is deceptively good! Only returning 2 players, Williams & Tyree from last years team. I could include Colton Elkins but he played up majority of last season and this year so far, but he was able to play a few games with his age group over the weekend. He looked a lot more comfortable or shall I say had more fun playing with his age group. This kid jumps out of the gym! He's a good post defender and shot blocker. He has a nice 10-15ft jumper. Also hits the left and right hook shot consitently. I don't think he realizes how dominant he can be but when he does, look out! They also had two other players, on, standing 6'8(also played with 17's) and the other about 6'3 (also played with 15's) that was built like an NFL free safety. Both of those guys were playing up. They brought size, shooting, rebounding hustle and athleticism to this team. Lexington Catholics Donovan Morris also played with the Magic and had a pretty solid tournament. Can't believe he didn't get much pt at LC. The only other player from this team I can name is Tony Washington(Waggener). One word to describe this kid, "DOG!" I was really impressed with the combination of Washington and Williams in the backcourt. The kid (Washington) can shoot it, dish it and get to the rack. He handles the ball really well! His no fear, no backdown attitude is what I really like about him. The Magic had 2 other guards that had nice strokes and played key roles in the Magic's run over the weekend. From Friday to Sunday this team was in dog fights. Most games they played without a full roster due to a few kids playing with the other two Magic teams. All in all I was impressed with the way this team played together. They had one of the toughest routes to the champioship playing Cameron Hoskins All-Stars, Team Heartbeat(Was a good game up until the Magic ran away with it at the end), Hoop Dreams, KY Elite and KY Heat. Still never heard why KY Heat-Brewer never showed. I feel this Magic team was the most overlooked and underrated in the tournament but they proved they can play with and beat anybody. Sorry I couldn't get a complete roster for this team.

From what I've heard, they've been putting on a show. Its been all eyes on them! The younger kids playing in the tournament are enamored by what they've seen and have been asking for their autographs. Lol!

Does anyone know anything about this tournament? Heard there's a team playing in it that consists of, Jeremiah Tisdale (Henry Clay) Tanner Johnson (Lexington Catholic) CJ Walker (Bryan Station) Ronnie Carson Jr. (East Jessamine) Darius Williams (PLD) Andre Davis (Bryan Station) Raekwon Long (Scott County) Don't know who else is on the roster but that's a pretty tough bunch!

Dunbar vs Marion County 1993

Don't sleep on the Lafayette Lady Generals! This group of young ladies are playing one game at a time, not overlooking ANY opponent and they are very hungry. Dee Givens a 5'11 do it all Jr. is playing out of her mind and with the recent surge by freshman Kiara Pankins, this team is going to be hard to beat. Not to mention they have a front line that many teams can't match up with. IMO. From what I've heard about Glasgow, this 1st round match up could possibly be the best game of day 1. Maybe the tournament but who knows? After all, it is March!

This was an interesting game! Talbott was definitely the difference maker in this one. Dence & Griffin also played big for the Knights. But it was Michael Talbott's first half play and decision making through out the ball game that made the the difference. Dunbar got off to a very poor start! They weren't by any means playing bad, their shots just wouldn't fall. Dunbar got great looks but it seemed as if it were a lid on the basket. I can't tell you how many of there shots went in and came out. They scrapped the entire 1st half with their defense which is what kept them from getting blown out. The lead never got above 11 as the pesky 'Dogs wouldn't go away. At the beginning of the 3rd quarter Darius Williams came out with an avengance and was on fire. I feel Coach Chalk took him out of his rhythm when he made the honest mistake of resting him with under 2 minutes to go in the 3rd. From the beginning to the end Williams was everywhere doing everything possible on the court. He played his heart out in this game and the tears in his eyes when the final buzzer sounded showed me how bad he wanted it. Freshman Taveion Hollingsworth stepped up along with Senior Troy Black and Jr. PJ Corrio. Freshman Dontell Brown came in and did a good job slowing down Robert Dence who was on a tear! I like his game. Tanner Johnson was blanketed in this game. He couldn't even go to the bathroom without someone guarding him! Sheesh! But in the end it may have been Johnson's 3 pointer that sealed it after a Darius Williams pull up jumper which could have cut the lead to one fell short. Missed free throws by the Knights turned into opportunities by the 'Dogs kept the last minute and a half of this game exciting. In the end, a bad start coupled with an off night from Senior PG Donnie Lewis ended the Bulldogs season. It's been a struggle for Dunbar this season but I'll tell you what, this team is gonna be hella scary next season and I'm picking them to come out of the 11th region right now for next season. You can quote me on that! They have a formidable core with Williams, Hollingsworth, and Brown who I believe will be starters next season along with PJ Corrio. And these kids are going to be very hungry for wins next season. Who's starting the point is what you're thinking huh!? Just know that Coach Scott Chalk has another secret on that bench that you haven't heard of yet. LOL!!! The future is bright for Coach Scott Chalk and his crew of puppies who are looking to become big dogs next year!

Imagine if you were a coach and this was your starting 5 going into next year! These are some good lists. I really like this one! Right now I would put Thomas at #2 due to the experience he's gained this year. He got the chance to show what he is capable of. It was a shocker to see him at the PG spot for I've never seen this kid play that position the 4 or 5 years I've been watching him. Once it's all said and done it's gonna be a tight race for that 2 spot because Andre Davis coming! His skill set and basketball IQ is amazing for his age. Now let's talk about the rookies on this list, Tavieon Hollingsworth & Dontell Brown. Hollingsworth is a silky smooth wing player. He's deceptively athletic, has a nice looking shot and can get to the basket.Tavieon may look like he's not going hard but looks can be deceiving. If you remember Lawrence Moton from Syracuse, he played the same way. He can be timid at times but I credit that to his youth You should've saw him tonight though! Once he gets stronger and adds some weight, he's gonna be tough to defend. Dontell Brown has became one of my favorites this season. I'm just wondering why Coach Chalk didn't use him as much as he should have once Brown started stepping up and showing promise. This kid is fearless! He can defend, rebound and he has some nice moves on the block with good footwork. Brown also has nice size. Height and weight. He doesn't have the average body of a freshman. And if he hits a growth spurt, look out 111th region because this kid is gonna be a terror. The box score may not reflect it but he made an impact against Lexington Catholic tonight.

Yea I know! The class of 2016 here in Kentucky blows my mind! It's loaded with talent! Division 1 talent at that!

Lafayette's main problem has been guard play this season. When Davis leaves the game, the offense becomes stagnant.

I really like the Elkins kid from Boyle County! Raw talent!
