Notes: This team is dedicated to Freshmen and Sophomores in the 11th who have made a name for themselves by bursting onto the scene this year. The rankings for these players were done according to what was expected for them coming into the season as compared to what they've been able to do so far. Things like playing for a big AAU program, already having notoriety, or being an expected starter would weigh against a player making this team.

Great job...love the pictures!!!!!

Thanks. Had the IPhone 4GS working in Lex.

Confession though: first one in Rupp was a pic I took with my digital camera for one of the Preseason Pan-O-Ramas in Rupp where they have the day long scrimmages.

Samuel Souers of Woodford County should be higher; 16 points/game, 3 threes/gm at 43% from three point range. I think the only guy that is better than that in the region is Trent Gilbert. I haven't seen his stats but I have seen him play and I am sure that Trent is the best shooter.

Samuel is efficient and can erupt for 6 to 10 points in a few minutes even when the other team is keying on him and Eli Boggess.

Definitely agree that there have been times that Souers and Graf have carried Woodford when other teams try and concentrate their resources on stopping Boggess.

As far as Breakout Players go, I was thinking of naming one of three or four kids:

1. Tavieon Hollingsworth

2. Andre Davis

3. Cameron Thomas

4. Dontell Brown

Anyone agree or disagree on those? I think Davis has the highest ceiling, while Hollingsworth and Brown get more exposure at this point in time.

As of today, Thomas has obviously had the best career, but for those following the Lexington AAU and JV scene as well, was this somewhat expected or not?

Coming into the year, you could see Thomas' potential, but and he's stepped up into that role like no one else, but does Davis have the higher ceiling if Jaron Brown will actually play him and unlock the talent?

Regardless, Darius Williams leads the Sophomore class in the 11th, but who is #2?

Thoughts on either? Feel free to agree or disagree.

Although he doesn’t fit your criteria for breakout players because he’s a junior, I think Drew Trimble at LCA has to be considered a huge breakout example. LCA ran into several injuries as they left for their Arizona tournament. They had to let Drew off the bench, and he’s made it clear he’s not sitting down again. He’s been their #1 or #2 scorer almost every game since then. He first showed off in Lexington when he had 18 in their big upset at LexCath, and as recently as last night was their leading scorer in their district tournament win over Tates Creek. Drew’s always been a skinny guard, then shot up to 6’7” last year. Not many kids that big with his ballhandling skills. My son’s played with and against this kid since 5th grade, and its great to see Drew be an “overnight success” after 8 years of hard work. Great kid from a great family.

Joker, did you get my email. I am premium member and struggle with the private stuff.

Matt Rose from LCA should be on your First Team. I looked up the stats online and Rose's numbers are remarkably similar to those of Jordan Green of Henry Clay, who many consider the 3rd best player in the 11th Region. Rose is a significantly better shooter (especially from 3pt and the FT line) and is a more efficient scorer in terms of points/shot. Green is better at getting to the FT line and has a better assist/turnover ratio. All other stats are basically identical between the two. Also, to my knowledge, there are only 4 players in the 11th Region that currently have a D1 scholarship offer--Jackson Davis, Trent Gilbert, Jordan Green and your Second Team selection, Matt Rose.

Imagine if you were a coach and this was your starting 5 going into next year! These are some good lists. I really like this one! Right now I would put Thomas at #2 due to the experience he's gained this year. He got the chance to show what he is capable of. It was a shocker to see him at the PG spot for I've never seen this kid play that position the 4 or 5 years I've been watching him. Once it's all said and done it's gonna be a tight race for that 2 spot because Andre Davis coming! His skill set and basketball IQ is amazing for his age. Now let's talk about the rookies on this list, Tavieon Hollingsworth & Dontell Brown. Hollingsworth is a silky smooth wing player. He's deceptively athletic, has a nice looking shot and can get to the basket.Tavieon may look like he's not going hard but looks can be deceiving. If you remember Lawrence Moton from Syracuse, he played the same way. He can be timid at times but I credit that to his youth You should've saw him tonight though! Once he gets stronger and adds some weight, he's gonna be tough to defend. Dontell Brown has became one of my favorites this season. I'm just wondering why Coach Chalk didn't use him as much as he should have once Brown started stepping up and showing promise. This kid is fearless! He can defend, rebound and he has some nice moves on the block with good footwork. Brown also has nice size. Height and weight. He doesn't have the average body of a freshman. And if he hits a growth spurt, look out 111th region because this kid is gonna be a terror. The box score may not reflect it but he made an impact against Lexington Catholic tonight.
