2. Two of the top returning players in the 11th, Jeremiah Tisdale and Matt Rose, teamed up and showed what those familiar with the 11th already know, that being that each can play with anyone in the State after their performances in the KY vs. Indiana Series' scrimmage where the Seniors (KY) vs. Juniors (KY) scrimmaged.

 

Tisdale had a stat line of 14 points and 3 boards on 5-of-9 shooting as the hometown kids fell 113-101 on June 7. Tisdale opened some eyes of BGP users with his performance, primarily by using his handle and quickness to get to the rim. Rose ended the night with 12 points on 4 of 7 shooting, including notching 1 of 4 from Treytown. He was also a perfect 3 of 3 from the charity stripe.

 

I'll try to add some more on how each of Lexington's "next" classes are performing at the AAU level once I get some time. For now, I’ll leave you with my updated player rankings for the 2014/2015 season.

True story.

 

I had written this awhile back (right after the Jr./Sr. All-Star scrimmage) and was saving it for fodder on a slow day, but with the news of Johnson's move to Georgetown, I thought now would be as good of a time as any to break it out.

 

Will this be more of a coup for the Cardinals or a loss for the Indians? Maybe a bit of both?

BTW, I think the kids at #10 (Hollingsworth), #11 (Tisdale), and #12 (Jenkins) have the most to gain in terms of how they'd move up and down this list depending on how far they progress over the summer and the course of next season.

 

Williams and Thomas are the "next" group and would probably lead their respective class' rankings if they came out today, but any of the three listed above stand to gain the same kind of ground in the overall rankings that kids like Williams and Thomas have over the past year (that's more-so for Thomas than Williams, as most people I talked to in the 11th were really high on Darius coming into last season, and rightfully so, because he's a special talent).

There's 26 varsity teams in the tournament. You can check the pool play schedule from the kba website at: http://www.playkba.com/default.aspx. Just click on the main page link to 2014 KBA Boys High School Summer State Tournament. They usually post the tournament matchups after the pools are over, but I think they have the brackets already up and seeded by pool standings.

 

Darius Williams is top dog in the 11th! IMO

Dunbar was down 33-20 with about 8 minutes left in the 1st half when the run started. Williams hit 8 straight 3s and Dunbar went on a 32-6 run to end the half up 52-39. Finished with 9 total 3s on the night. It was impressive to say the least.

I think this is the year we see some big time offers start rolling in for Mr. Williams.

Matt Rose also making his case for best player in the 11th Region. He had 37 points tonight in Lexington Christian's 70-43 win over Perry County Central in the KBA State Tournament, including 29 in the first half before the game got out of hand.
