The handling in question was not called handling by a gentlemen I happened to be standing by. Turns out he is a ref and works for CCH .

I'm not calling you or anyone in particular out but descriptions of what happens in games can hardly be called proof. As we all know. 30 people can watch the same game and see totally different things.

How often is "proof" given on a soccer forum with regard to play?

Was actually able to make it to this one and I'm not sure I agree with the hacking comments. St Henry's fouls were just as hard as HC. The player in question on HC got two fouls called on him and was lucky that neither one rose to the level of a card. Not sure what everyone wanted the crew out there to do other than what they did. Ref was 60 yards away watching play on the far side when the AR correctly noticed the off the ball shenanigans and had it addressed. The deer was great though because he made his appearance after the second St Henry card and sort of broke the tension while the ref was explaining the card to the coach.

Not at all. Just trying to figure out why we always have a comment to the negative about the refereeing even though the game might be both enjoyable and competitive. Perhaps it would be amusing for all the referees to get one here and complain that the teams played so amazingly poorly that the game was pointless to referee. Would that be accepted in here? I doubt it. Comment how you will that is your right. Just understand that your comments should make sense first.

Haha. You guys are hilarious. "Game was great and exciting enjoyable for all. refs were terrible." What a bunch of nonsense.

Very nice post. I must have been grabbing some food when the missed handball happened. I didn't see the BB players wanting a handball.

Rules question
Where were you able to access the high school book. I've never been able to get a hold of one

Thanks for the clarification. It was after a big uproar so on our side we couldn't tell.

Your opinion is valid. I have seen the opposite as well. Guy let the players beat each other bloody and not call a thing. They figured it out and wised up. Game ended up fine with no one hurt and everyone happy.

Eh not sure I agree that his style favored Scott. He chewed on the Scott player number 8 pretty hard when he kept complaining. I also think there were more fouls called against them. Regardless that is just a fact of life that refs styles vary just like teams. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose that luck of the draw.

Rules question
Taunting of fans by a player can technically be a red in high school though I have never personally seen it. They made a point in our youth ref class to make that distinction.

I what you said pretty much falls in line with how I described it, just from someone's perspective that has been on these kind of games. As far as cards for players complaining I only say one card that looked to be for dissent to a player and it was the Brossart keeper for leaving the box to argue on what could only have been a foul call by the assistant that caught him picking the ball up out of the box. Not sure which other cards for complaint you are referring to.

There we go that's the kind of unbiased argument I like to see. Do go on.

I'll give this much. There were a descent number of cards but no reds. This game has historically been one that is full of bad blood and animosity and it showed tonight. One minute you have players wanting to play physical and nothing called the next thing you know they get hit with a gust of wind and want a red card. From someone that watches this game from a fairly neutral perspective as I rarely have a dog in the fight. This game was brutal to be a ref on for sure. Seemed like he couldn't get into a rhythm of being able to both let them play and control the players that wanted everything called. I'm sure others will have more colorful descriptions of the events but suffice to say the goals were all scrappy and the play matched it. Not much artful soccer tonight.

That was a horribly disjointed and untrue statement. Pro players in all countries play the ball in the air all the time. Second issue is what does that have to do with physical play? Pro women and college players both want their game called more like the men's game, they find it insulting that refs call a women's game differently based on gender. That game last night would not even rank in the top 200 games I've seen for physicality. Quit trying to coddle these players. They are good skilled players that know when to play hard and how much is acceptable.

Wow, how many injuries tonight? Sounds like there should have been a few based on how overly physical it got... I'm obviously baiting here. The game I watched was physical but it was good soccer and I didn't see any players out there on that field that we're going to lose sleep over how physical the game was. They all looked like they were just playing hard and shockingly enough, some looked like they were having fun playing the game. There is a difference between letting players battle it out and coddling them to fit what parents believe soccer should look like. Congrats to both teams they both deserve to move on and they do.

They would probably have more young refs if they didn't think they would be crucified for not being perfect in their first year. Both goal on free kicks sounds pretty even to me.

Except it's not the right position. The correct position for an AR is with the 2nd last defender or ball whichever is closest to the goal line. That said it is often pointless to run to the goal line on an obviously booted goal kick.

Carries over as it should. Even seniors can be penalized in another sport they play I think.

Well the rumor is the finals have to be held on a field that is 75 yards wide. Are we implying that high school soccer needs to played on a nearly world cup sized field? Seems a bit ambitious.
