Who advances to the Regional Final? Why?

Cov cath is better, but I always like upsets. 2-1 NCC.

I think CovCath is the favorite to win Region 9, but my gut tells me NCC wins after regulation and 2OT in PKs.

 

CovCath student section is also the favorites and I think they'll come through strong.

If you would ask me prior to last night I would have said CCH. I will have to say this goes to a shot out where CCH gets the win to move on.

Still stickin with my gut and going with cov cath walking to the final....as much as it pains me to say that.

Anyway of knowing in advance who the center refs will be for the remaining regional games? Unfortunately they (to many times) have an impact on the results. With that said, short of a complete game changing blown call, I see no way CCH's technical domination does not carry them through to Regional Champs.

One young ref (don't know name) in particular does a great job, good game management, great foul recognition, good movement, and maybe best feature of all, is basically invisible, brings no attention to himself, a real rarity in HS games these days. Can only hope he has the center for the final, and if permitted one of the semis tonight.

I think you are truly underestimating what can happen on a soccer field on any given night. CovCath has been a technical superior team for the last 3-4 years with no regional championships to show for it. Favorite, certainly. No way they lose without officials blowing a call, silly statement.

Agree on any given night anything can happen, NC State beating Houston or Nova beating Georgetown for examples.

But different CCH players having impact this year then the past few years, more true soccer players.

Next few days will determine if statement is "silly" or not.

As a CCH supporter.......playing NCC in the regionals brings back bad memories........playing at HHS....double whammy......

 

We have a very good coach now that knows how to prepare a team........

As a CCH supporter I can't really agree with any of this. As was pointed out, it has not gotten the job done in the past couple of years for various reasons. Last year I would not say that CCH was even very technical at all and they lost in PK's in the semi-final round to NCC. These are two different style teams playing tonight and whoever executes their game/style better will win the game. I'd rather it not go to PK's again.

I hope it doesn't go to PK's. It's the worst way to determine a winner. The goalie could get lucky and dive in the right direction, the taker could be so nervous (while acting cool!) he shanks it up over the crossbar... And all that will be remembered of the match will be the kid who "knocked us out of State..".
