Campbell won their first game Friday against Oak Hill. Matt Wilson looked solid. Jackson and Holbrook played like they should and were leaders on the floor. Little Mcgovney was very impressive and is surprising athletic for a kid of his build. However, they lost their second game to Middletown. The looked tired playing back to back and they do not have much size outside of Wilson.
CovCath looked solid but really young. Cole VonHandorf displayed his excellent court vision and the ability to stop on a dime to hit the pull up jumper. Ruthsatz was impressive as always and Schuh looked good as well. Those two didn't play much as they were up big most of the game. A kid that should not be slept on for CCH is Matthew Shumate. He is very good shooter and a very heady player. While he isn't the best athlete, he makes up for it with his hustle and bull collar work ethic. He always seems to be in the right position. Also Austin Sweeney looks like he will contribute his junior year; however, if he is able to put it together this year; he could steal some playing time, as he is 6'3 and does a little bit of everything. I would expect CCH to be able to compete for the ninth region crown as their kids have a will to win.
On a side note, I really like Mark Schult. While undersized, he is the kind of kid that will give other teams bigs trouble as he loves to bang and don't tell him he is undersized.
