I know Quentin Goodin had 23 in the finals and Carson Williams had 19. All the kids played good all weekend for Hoop dreams, I think Will Hager might have had 13 in the championship. Hoop Dreams left no doubt they were the best team in the 15u in Atlanta this weekend.

Derby state lost to NC state champ team heat 61-60 in. Finals. Cole vonHandorf gave Derby State a 60-59 lead with 5 seconds left on a layup , heat in bounded and brought up court and shot half court heave out of bounds. But a foul was called on the half court shot and heat hit 2 of 3 ft's to win.

Derby State Thoroughbreds advance to the Final 4 in the 14u division with a 64-33 win this morning in the quarterfinals. They will play the Georgia Stars in the Final 4, winner will be a heavy favorite in the championship game.

Karolina Diamonds beat Hoop Dreams 72-70 this morning in the 17's. Derby State Thoroughbreds won their pool in the 14u division beating the Carolina Tide 61-50. They will play in the final 8 in the morning. Hoop Dreams 15u should win their pool , they play at 2:15 against Chattanooga Elite Navy

With numerous Kentucky teams competing at the Nike Memorial Day Classic in Atlanta post updates in here. The only Kentucky team that played tonight was the Derby State Thoroughbreds 14u team, they erased an 18 point deficit in the 2nd half to beat the St. Louis Spartans 78-72 behind 21 points from Kel Stotts & Peyton Broughton

Russell Malone (former Warren East & Clarksville, TN Head Coach) moved to Trigg County three years ago and was assistant thinking he would take over for Mike Wright, same thing with Rex Booth this year. Both thought would take over, decision committee was torn between the two so went with the 3rd candidate, the outsider. Compromised.

Derby State Thoroughbreds 14u defeated the 2nd ranked team in Ohio - Next Level this morning 57-46 then Indiana Elite in the Semi-Finals 64-46 before losing to two time national Champion Indy Hoosiers in the championship game of the Hoosier Invitational Tournament. Thoroughbreds go to Atlanta next week for the Nike Memorial Day Classic

Derby State Racers 12u team has only been defeated once this year by the #1 team in the nation All Ohio Red. The Racers 12u play another Kentucky team, KYWA Magic in the round of 16 of the HITT Tournament in Indianapolis. Derby State Thoroughbreds 14u team has advanced to the final 8 of the HITT Tournament tomorrow, they will play the #2 team in Ohio, Next Level. If the Thoroughbreds can make the finals they will more than likely meet the #5 team in the country, the Indy Hoosiers.

Derby State Thoroughbreds 14 u went 2-0 in pool play beating Ohio Unity & Wisconsin Playground Warriors before losing on Sunday afternoon in the final 4 of the Adidas May Classic to St. Louis Gateway Basketball club.

KHSAA just took over the Middle Schools as well so all rules will be changed I am sure.

Traveler Tradition, How long has the EYBL league been around where you have to finish in the top 24 to qualify for the Peach Jam? This is a new event I know within the last 5 years at least, I know in 2008 they didn't have the EYBL, at least I don't think they did that was really the last time I followed the travel basketball scene every weekend every tournament. Also a player you all had back then, I really liked his game, ended up at Appalachian State but then transferred away from there to Carson Newman I believe, Quinche Dowdell, how did he finish up at Carson Newman?

The Calipari move is also a smart move on the business side. Although I don't believe the rumblings, you do hear the rumblings of the Travelers being on a short least with the EYBL entering the year because of their recent performance in the league. By getting Calipari on your side he will go to bat for the program with Nike to keep their sponsorship. p.s. All of that is irrelevant if it was the truth or not because the 17u Travelers are off to a nice start in the EYBL for this year playing more underclassman than any other team in the league. The Travelers look to be well on their way for qualifying for a bid in the Peach Jam.

Derby State Thoroughbreds 14u is at the Eddie Ford Spring Classic in Louisville, NCAA certified event. Derby State Racers 12u, are undefeated and won the King James Ice Breaker in Cincinnati earlier in the month travel to Akron for the King James Tournament.

Quentin Goodin in my opinion is the best freshman in the state.

I'm not going to say that I know for a fact that he won't play for a team next week, next month or in July, but I do know as a fact that he has no plans to play AAU this year. Will that change later? I don't know that but as of now he has no plans to play. I agree about the exposure, however, I do know one kid back in the early 2000's that had a good AAU summer between his sophomore and junior years and a good season got offers from a lot of big schools, chose not to play AAU between his junior & senior seasons because said "I can only hurt my stock." The kid was correct, he ended up getting a scholarship from Kentucky, had offers from a lot of other high majors, and scored less than 150 points during his UK career. Maybe Shane thinks he will hurt his stock? I am not that familiar with the situation on why he isn't playing.

Derby State Thoroughbreds 14u team lost this morning in the final 8 of the Pitt Jam Fest to the eventual champion, D.C. Assault who is ranked #10 in the country by 5 star. The Thoroughbreds are #24 according to dunkdog, Thoroughbreds lost 66-65, had the ball in the final seconds but was unable to get the win. Great game by both teams.

He isn't playing AAU this year.

Louisville Magic representing KY well as are the Derby State Thoroughbreds who are in the Final 8 of the 14u division at the Pitt Jam Fest. They play DC Assault in the morning.

7th Grade Division 1 AAU State and the 8th Grade Division 1 AAU State were both this weekend at the KBA. Derby State Thoroughbreds 14u / 8th grade team stayed local this weekend and competing in the Bluegrass Bash in Lexington before playing in the D-1 8th grade state next week at the KBA.
