  1. Nice win Colonels! Chatard is a quality opponent with an excellent football tradition.

  4. Moeller is terrible now because they lost their starting quarterback for the season as pointed out earlier by THS2011.
  5. Wow! I didn't see this one coming......I'm telling you, those "Bengal" like helmets may be cursed.
  6. Prediction: "Pain!" for the Rebels. Surely Simon Kenton is selling tickets to this away game. The thread should read #6 Simon Kenton at Boone County. But alas, I did not feel this tussle deserved a thread with a poll. :idunno:
  7. Nope. The fifth place team in district 4 becomes the fourth place team in district 6. If Trinity wins district 4, the Rocks host Seneca. Sumon Kenton gets the fourth place team, most likely Jeffersontown. Campbell County will host Eastern or Ballard and the Eastern/Ballard winner will get to host Boone County.
  8. I am happy that's settled. Hopefully the Pioneers won't treat the Chargers too harshly.
  9. I believe this score confirms both of these teams deserve to be in top six or seven in 6A.
  10. St. X freshman team is now 2-4. I am unsure why Manual could not field a freshman team in 2016. They have put together an excellent staff this season. Hopefully they can build on this year's talent and return to being contenders in their district.
  11. Only 11 play at a time. St X probably has 80. Less than half saw action tonight. Shorten the game by 8 minutes? That's why there is a mercy rule that is used at all levels of high school football.
  12. I have confirmation no sophomores dressed for the Crimsons. The original quote is an example of an ill-informed statement from a veteran Tiger sideline guy. He used the St. Xavier Athletic Director's name in vain. Next time, I will do better getting to a more direct source. Great win for Manual.
  13. What you are saying is Jefferson County public schools prefer playing 8 minutes short? Grade school football plays 8 minute quarters. 32 minutes instead of 40 minutes? Why? Officials get paid the same.
  14. I had to add an asterisk because as I was leaving Paul M Young Field, a respected member of the St. Xavier football community explained Manual sought and received permission to play "8 or 9" sophomores in today's contest. "The Crimsons would have cancelled" if these folks were not allowed to play. Manual did cancel the JV game scheduled for this past Monday. Manual ran the ball on an early drive in first quarter to take a 6-0 lead. The score remained the same until a fourth quarter fumble by St. Xavier was returned 48 yards for a touchdown. The Crimsons two point pass play was successful and Manual held a 14-0 lead. The Tigers drove 70 yards with a deflected pass in the end zone caught by a Tiger resulting in their only touchdown of the game with 4 minutes remaining. The PAT kick was good and it was 14-7 Crimsons. St. Xavier kicked away and Manual punted the ball back to the Tigers with 2:30 left. The Tigers final drive ended at the Manual 27 with 1:08 to play. Manual stuffed a fourth and two carry up the middle. Three kneel downs and the game was over and the Crimsons celebration was on. I'd like for a Manual staffer in the know to confirm if kids other than freshmen did participate. My information came second hand from the St. Xavier AD as he would have needed to grant permission for the sophomores to play.
  15. Does anyone know the outcome of the JV game? I will be attending the Freshman game today.
  16. I know Coach Glaser did.....almost too much! He "hates Trinity". I think Todd deserves a shot, just as Coach Servino had his time as head coach at Trinity.
  17. A well-oiled team will not lose to the upstart Broncos
  18. The lack of votes offered or submitted by population. They are voting to sell their local media brand.
  19. Covington Catholic. I hope they do not flame out in the playoffs.
  20. I fully expect a St. Xavier victory. The trouble wit Manual is the staff has to convince them they can beat the Tigers. I do not believe Coach Carmony as had the time to build the Crimsons confidence enough for the upset to occur. Tigers 24-0.
  21. Organizations that voted in this week’s poll: The Daily Independent, Ashland; Daily News, Bowling Green; Kentucky Enquirer, Cincinnati; Times-Tribune, Corbin; East Kentucky Broadcasting, Pikeville; The News-Enterprise, Elizabethtown; Daily Enterprise, Harlan; The Gleaner, Henderson; Kentucky New Era, Hopkinsville; Lexington Herald-Leader, Lexington; The Courier-Journal, Louisville; The Ledger Independent, Maysville; The Middlesboro Daily News, Middlesboro; Times Leader Princeton, Princeton; The Commonwealth-Journal, Somerset; WDKY, Lexington; WKYX, Paducah. Louisville gets one vote, the same as Somerset, Lexington, and everyone else. Very interesting. I like the BluegrassPreps system. There is not nearly as much bias against certain areas of the Commonwealth as there appears to be in the AP poll. :scared:
  22. tommyjohn8400 #6 Butler - Somebody fix that This thread was started prior to the newest rankings being released. These threads are normally started on Saturday mornings or Sundays early in the season as soon as both teams have played their games. The newest rankings come out on Monday wnd BGP feels the members and public are better served getting the threads started ASAP.:thumb: There is an error in this week's rankings as I failed to update the Top Ten properly for Pleasure Ridge Park and Butler. :bag:
  23. Originally, Trinity started playing week 0 out of necessity. Trinity struggled to find 9 or 10 games. Then, the coaching staff decided it was nice to have the last week of regular season off to heal up for playoffs. Trinity has gotten by with one scrimmage for quite a while. The annual green-white intrasquad scrimmage is a fairly good dress rehearsal. This is followed the next week by a three quarter full speed, game like scrimmage.
  24. Trinity does not. Nor does St. Xavier. Both probably should. You know "we" love to gamble!
