jD the only concrete think you can prove is that Ashland has zero wins. Unless of course you are one of the assistant coaches no longer on Biggs staff. How many girls want to play on the boys team? Way to go in trying to turn this on me. Working hard in each sport is different, soccer and swimming ,I'll give you. It is all relevant to the sport. I like Ashland, I like Biggs and I really don't like anyone calling out any coach when they don't have all the information. Every thread about Ashland turns into you ragging on Biggs, kind of ruins it for the real fans. Take your issues to the administration.

This "walking the hallway" thing is the dead horse, almost every school can say the same thing. Hard work in basketball is completely different than almost every other sport. Let's just agree that you have a problem with Biggs and his no nonsense coaching style. How about talking to the guys who played for him when he had hard working disciplined kids. How about talking to assistants who coached with him then too. Tell me how many of these kids who "work hard" at other sports have had the success you expect from Biggs. Calling out coaches on a public forum is weak, really, really weak.:watching:

jD. You have spent a lot of your post degrading Buddy Biggs. Do you even know him, have you ever met him. You say there are kids he has "run off". When kids don't play because a coach is to tough it says a lot more about the kid than it does the coach.

So I take it Beechwood doesn't film games. Couldn't someone stat a game from a film. Poor planning in your absence.

This is why you are permitted to scratch officials at the beginning of the season. I've seen many officials do games when they obviously have a problem with a kid or a school. Actually over heard a highly ranked official say he couldn't stand a certain school! It happens, they are human.

Maybe you need to go to "The Saddle Club"! I'm sure those guys could give you plenty of names.

Many years ago and I do mean many, a game like this would have meant a lot. Now it's been there, done that for a lot of the old Beechwood Fans. The ones who do not understand or respect the tradition of the program are the ones who don't see what has been going on at Beechwood the last couple years.

Let's face it there is only a few NKY coaches that deal with Walter and I know one of them is Goetz. I guess now we will be hearing about Tigers instead of indians!!! Sullivan at Cooper has a Holmes connection and most of his information comes from fans not coaches. That explains his posting of rumors.

The article in the paper said she was looking for a new home, not basketball home, HOME. The PE/Health position was filled for 1 year, that was how it was posted last summer.

I could be all wrong about this but, a few years back didn't a superintendent go into Campbell County and let go quite a few coaches. Beechwood has a new Super and a new AD. The AD wants to move back to NKAC Div III and both coaches (basketball) were against the move back. Couple of points to ponder: ..The BOE was told that both Coaches were warned...Absolutely, POSITIVELY NOT TRUE!!! ..Coach McCarty has a son who is standing in the way of some out of district, tuition students from playing time in football. She does have 5 kids in the school district. She says she is looking for a new home!! ..Teaching position is needed for new Boys Basketball Coach. ( I know no Masters)

She could have still coached! The Masters was not even used as a reason,.

Actually she will have her Masters in time, maybe they need her teaching position for there new Boys Basketball coach!!!

Clyde, I admittedly had to look both these words up. You're English teachers taught you well! But I guess at the end of the day, our facts (which he doesn't refute), are outweighed by his opinions.

I can name 5 student who transfered from the Erlanger Elsmere school system in the last 4 years. And regardless, does that make anything about the baseball coach, potential new basketball coach, some football assistants, and the head of the athletic boosters being from Lloyd false? He makes 30 tours a week? And a solid working relationship with Miller? A shame he couldn't find a way to make the tour that Miller asked him to join about some athletes and their parents looking to transfer in that played basketball and football. And a shame Noel came to a grand total of one basketball game this year. And a shame he had to send a 14 year kid to communicate to Miller that he could no longer come to basketball practices he had been attending the beginning of the week after his freshman football season because the football staff had decided to make him a varsity starter (Nothing wrong with making the decision to start the kid, but with a "great working relationship" couldn't Noel have talked to Miller?) Also a shame he didn't stop his assistants that told every basketball player that "basketball is a waste of time" and they should be "in the weight room instead." it's already been confirmed what Clyde said about Beechwood making calls long before Miller knew and what I said about Noel giving a tour (with an assistant football coach that was hostilely against Miller) to an "old high school friend". (If he wasn't in the loop, is he this naive?) Multiple people have told Miller DIRECTLY that the football staff knew. Multiple. I guess they're all liars too. You're not the Beechwood insider you think you are. And Guru, I know..... :popcorn:

In most cases the total staff turns over. He was contacted by Coach Rash about the basketball vacancy before Miller ever knew he was not being renewed. The football staff was informed before Miller. Now let's count, the football coach is from Lloyd, the baseball coach is from Lloyd, a lot of the tuition students are from Lloyd, the head of the athletic boosters is from Lloyd, the football staff member who was with Rash during the tour is from Lloyd...Hmmm...now a candidate for the basketball job is from Lloyd. Interesting, how must power does Noel Rash and his staff have over Beechwood Athletic and should he!!!

VoR, not what I was saying at all. Are you implying Miller did this? If two kids are very similar in ability, play the kid that works harder. But what coach wouldn't?

to the above post (which my computer will not allow me to quote for some reason, my apologies): There are several factors that make it "set up for failure" in my opinion. -A small school really has the burden of sharing athletes. Everyone is well aware that in the last two decades it has become necessary that if you want to succeed at a sport you can't only play competitively during the season. When football and baseball have so much more tradition at he school and these athletes come to make a decision on what they want to play, they choose those two 4 times out of 5. -The exceptional athletes that do decide to play Beechwood basketball will bust their tail during the game, and maybe during in season practice, but that's all. There is no way to compete at the division II level with that attitude. That is why you saw low numbers this year on the basketball team. Miller being around NKY and Beechwood basketball for the better part of two decades was well aware of this. he raised the commitment level (greater emphasis on summer workouts, playing kids that worked hard, etc.). If you did not want to work hard, you probably had no interest in playing under him. It is my understanding that Wera, the parents of the boys who did not play, and the multi-sport parents were VERY critical of this. -Having to share so many athletes and not receive these athletes until after football season, sometime just one week before the season opens. -Go through and read the Walton thread and the opinions had of their parents. Now puts those parents on steroids and welcome to Fort Mitchell. They don't understand why their son can no longer compete with "Div II team X" after competing with them throughout elementary and middle school. Could it be that "Div II team X's" players have been working on basketball year around? Could be that they are still getting shots up during their other sports seasons? Could it be they had more practice time because trinity wiped their nose with their football team in round 1 of the playoffs? Of course not! It's that knucklehead of a coach over there! rabble rabble rabble..... Beechwood has the horses to compete at the division II level if the bar is raised, AND IF THE COMMUNITY REALLY WANTS IT. Not pie in the sky, wouldn't that be great if we had it, but willing to put in the work and sacrifice to get to that level. If you instill an expected level of commitment it trickles down to the middle school. Those kids get the message, and it breaks the "Beechwood Basketball stigma" that has loitered the hallways for decades. Miller did not even get two full years (only one summer) to try and do this. My guess is Suzy Wera is already trying to move back down to division III. Something the kids that quit probably all want, but the boys that put in all the work have no interest in. To Crosley's last paragraphs about the business world, you are right, this is common. What is also common is the business person looks back and realizes they had no idea what they were doing, and were simply trying to "make a name for themselves" or "assert their authority" and cut off their nose despite their face.

You've just proven mine. If it is not enough for the entire school, it is not enough for the varsity. The players have gone through the program with one gym, which often limited them to ONE practice a week as middle schoolers and even freshman. You really think that does not affect them as varsity players? You also claimed this program did not need "rebuilt" when Miller took over. Are you aware that in Shumate's final season the Tigers ONLY won their 14 division III games?
