0-0 after 1. Both teams had one long drive that ate clock but then the defense turned them away.

THIS. Neither team is all that consistent. Is HC the 44-0 team vs Walton or the 13-10 team vs Walton? Is NCC the team that had Lloyd down 28-0 thru 3 1/2 quarters or the one that lost the last 9 minutes 18-0? Or the one that jumped on Lloyd 21-0 and never looked back last week? One problem I see with HC is that they need to keep the Big Two on the field on Defense and that tends to eventually hurt the offense. If they had any depth and could just load up the backfield and give each 15-20 carries a game on Offense only they would really have something. But I don't think they could stop the other team and would have to win a 42-38 shootout. On the other hand NCC does not have the star power but is certainly a lot deeper. So they need to keep it a boring game like last time and just wear HC down.

Except that would give an advantage to a team (especially in the 1A-5A) that has a weaker schedule against teams they know they can beat while their opponent plays up in class against better teams that can and do beat them.

Year after year Lloyd has the talent but I think depth catches up with them by the end of the year when they have some injuries. Good win for NCC taking care of business as usual.

Yes, but those hardy Ohio Boys and Girls can somehow play 30 more minutes and KY Boys and Girls can only do 10??? Why can't KY do 30 minutes? That's should be a start. If you left it up to the players when the regular time ends in a tie.......hey do you want to go to PKs now, do you want to play up to two 5 minute OTs before PKs, or do you want to play up to two 15 minute OTs before PKs, or do you want to play OTs until we have a winner? Which do you think the players would elect?

Ohio OT: Tournament Tie Procedures When the score is tied at the end of regulation time, the referee will instruct both teams to return to their respective team benches. There will be five minutes during which both teams may confer with their coaches and the head referee will instruct both teams as to proper procedures. i. Teams will play one 15-minute sudden victory overtime period. If neither team scores during the first overtime period, teams will play a second 15-minute sudden victory overtime period. ii. Prior to the first overtime period, a coin toss shall be held as in Rule 5-2-2 (d)(3). iii. If neither team scores during the first 15-minute overtime period, teams shall alternate the kickoff and change ends for the second overtime period. iv. There shall be a two-minute interval between periods.

Soccer CAN play OTs until they determine a winner they just choose not to do it. The endurance argument is not a good one because you cannot tell me at the end of two 5 minutes OTs that the kids have played to exhaustion. Would a 20 minute OT followed by another 20 minute OT if needed really not be a better way to determine a State Champ? Why not start there? If basketball go unlimited OTs and football can go unlimited OTs I see no reason why after two 5 minute OTs they have to go to PKs.

One thing Beechwood has always been good at is taking away the primary threat in the opposing offense. If LHC wants to hang around in this one they are going to have to involve multiple players in the offense and that does not suit their style this year. Going to have to match Beechwood score for score and I do not see that happening.

I think the "its the world's game" argument for PKs is the biggest bunch of horse manure ever. KY High school football has an OT process that is different than the NFL, different than the NCAA and even different than Ohio high school. So the state of KY has to have PKs because that is how the rest of the world does it?? That makes no sense.

Congrats to the Frosh for wanting to help his team......................But no one sees anything wrong with a player that played JV all season and then was put on Varsity for the post season but hasn't played at all..............possibly deciding the State Championship with a PK???????? I don't care what they do in the rest of the world, the KHSAA is trying to decide a KY State Champion of the sport. There has to be a better way than PKs where players who had no effect on the game could decide it.

Why does it have to be? There is no school the next day. They play two mini OTs......why not expand that? Don't tell me that there is an injury risk or a tired factor. Baseball State Final can go as many innings as necessary as can every game prior to that one. Basketball can go OT after OT after OT. Football the same. So why would soccer not do the same?

His rain-makers are an under-rated stat in high school football. If you can punt the ball 40-45 yards and make the other team fair catch it or catch it under duress then it can result in a turnover a surprising number of times.

This could be a close game. I would not base anything off the first game. Especially since NCC looked good for the first 3 1/2 quarters and then Lloyd looked so good in the last 8 minutes. NCC was without best LB in first game so Lloyd was able to run the ball up the middle. Now their RB is out. Lloyd dropped 2 TD passes in first game. NCC dropped 2 Pick 6 interceptions. Lloyd kicking game was terrible except for all the successful on-sides kicks. So basically this game might be totally different than the first game. I think NCC will play up more on the Lloyd receivers instead of giving them large cushions. I think Lloyd will account for the NCC QB who hurt them repeatedly by running the ball. I also think you may see some players who rarely play both ways in the regular season start getting more snaps on both sides of the ball.

Final State Championship game should never be decided by PKs.
