The score was tied 38-38 after three quarters but Dunbar outscored Scott County 24-13 in the final quarter for the victory. Layla Flynn led Dunbar with 21 points including eight of 10 free throws, four rebounds, four assists, and seven steals. Kyah Curtsinger added 10 points including six of eight free throws. Alese Goree recorded nine points including seven of eight free throws, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Kaleigh Potts added nine points, three rebounds, and two steals. Jenna Flynn recorded six points on two three point baskets and four rebounds. Eriyaune Daniels had seven points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and two steals. Dunbar was 25 of 33 from the free throw line while Scott County was five of seven from the charity stripe.

This entire situation defies logic, I have watched a lot of games this year and I felt like the top four teams were George Rogers Clark, Assumption, Simon Kenton, and Sacred Heart in no particular order. However there were other teams including Frederick Douglass and Cooper that were capable of beating anyone on a given night. While I have the utmost respect for the Highlands and Ryle teams and their fine coaching staffs Cooper's last two games made no sense. There was too much talent on the squad for that to happen. Basketball has changed so much, I used to do pre -season previews but I will not attempt that anymore because I never know what the rosters will look like until game time and even then will the player actually finish the season with that team. I just wish all these girls the best this summer and hope to see them back on the court next year. My only advice to all young players, try to stop and smell the roses, this should be your care free years.

Frederick Douglass raced out to a 26-10 first quarter lead on their way to a running clock victory. Jaelee Knowles led the victors with 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Tamia Waide added 12 points on four three point baskets, three rebounds, and two steals. Miami King recorded 10 points and three rebounds. MK Bennett chipped in with nine points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. No starter played more than 23 minutes with 12 players seeing action and nine getting into the scoring column. 43rd District Championship game. Dunbar shot 56.5% from the field including seven of 18 from the three point line. The Lady Bulldogs connected on 23 of 30 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 26 Lafayette turnovers. Lafayette shot 38% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc. The Lady Generals connected on 15 of 24 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 15 Dunbar turnovers. Bryan Station scored 23 points off 12 Danville Christian turnovers. Amari Owens led Bryan Station with 29 points including three three point baskets, two of four free throws, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Geu Leek Ateny led Danville Christian with 22 points including three three point baskets, five of five free throws, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots. Cole Dadisman added 13 points.

Lafayette won a thriller at home against Lincoln County. Lafayette raced out to a 22-6 first quarter lead but Lincoln County battled back and led 46-45 with 20 seconds left in the game. However Lafayette scored four points down the stretch to earn the victory. Lexington Catholic led 45-36 after three quarters but Danville Christian outscored the Knights 16-5 in the final quarter. Ben Mikels led DCA with 20 points and six rebounds. Another surprise in the wild and wacky 11 th Region. Henry Clay shot 53.2% from the field to earn this overtime victory. Henry Clay was 15 of 18 from the free throw line while Bryan Station was 9 of 19 from the charity stripe. Jackson Stephan led Henry Clay with 22 points including five of five free throws, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and four steals. Jack Hemenway added 19 points including eight of 10 free throws. Richard Goatley recorded 10 points and nine assists. Amari Owens led Bryan Station with 32 points including seven of 12 free throws, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Torrence Sanford added 16 points including three three point baskets. TaeShawn Adams recorded 12 points and five rebounds and L. Roberts pulled down 10 rebounds.

Brynli Pernell led Simon Kenton with 28 points including five three point baskets, seven of eight free throws, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Angela Kabeya added 10 points and seven rebounds. Haylie Webb also recorded 10 points and four rebounds and Anna Kelch came up big with six points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and two steals. I tend to agree with you. There are several teams out there that are capable of springing a big upset but the list narrows down when you talk about a multi-game tournament setting. This has been a hard season to handicap as several teams have recorded impressive wins then follows it up by suffering a defeat. Example Frederick Douglass blows out Sacred Heart by 20 then has back-to-back losses to North Laurel and Simon Kenton. Assumption suffered a loss to Sacred Heart but has a overtime victory over George Rogers Clark. Sacred Heart as a very dangerous team but they have to get by Assumption in the seventh region. The ninth region is always tough and several top teams may not even make it to the big show. Assumption and George Rogers Clark are both talented and have very deep rosters.

5-11 2030 Jylin Edmondson played at Franklin County last season and was at Boyd County this year. One of the top young talents in the state and would be a big addition for George Rogers Clark for a tournament run. This would only add to GRC's arsenal with an excellent array of seasoned veterans and talented young players. Would think she would be immediately eligible because of her grade. This years girls tournament could be one of the most interesting and wide open in years.

Hopefully this score was correct. It was emailed to me by the Scott County Stats Crew and the numbers added up bit I too have seen a lot of incorrect scores this season. The results today adds to my season long argument, don't underestimate the teams in Northern KY regardless of records.

Taylor County was 22/31 from the free throw line while Cooper was 7/11 from the charity stripe. North Laurel scored a big win over Frederick Douglass who was fresh off a 20 point victory over Sacred Heart Academy. The game was close throughout but the Lady Jaguars pulled away late when Frederick Douglass was forced to foul. North Laurel got big games from Mariella Claybook who was instoppable down low, Halwy Combs and 8th Grader Laylee Phillips. Claybrook fouled out with 1:44 left in the game. Frederick Douglass star Jaelee Knowles fouled out with 1:18 left in the game with the Lady Broncos trailing 47-42 but the North Laurel squad hit their free throws down the stretch.

This was reportedly Franklin County's first district loss after 98 consecutive victories. Great Crossing outscored the Lady Flyers 15-8 in the third quarter.
