  1. And when their fries are done right...best fast food chain fry in the industry.
  2. They have done a much better job of "branding" themselves over the years, and I believe also set several "firsts" such as offering a breakfast sandwich.
  3. Very possibly...if he didn't "have" to read it, I don't see all the hub-bub.
  4. After further reading, seems like the book isn't actually required, but recommended. Not sure how "strong" that recommendation is...could mean nothing, could be like your boss "recommending" you come in early tomorrow to finish a project.
  5. Interesting read here. Not sure which way I fall to tell you the truth. Though I am totally against the message of the book (from what I understand of it) I think if required I would read it and then give my uncensored opinion/thoughts on it. However, I also think maybe Duke and other universities should have a range of books for kids to choose from that they can read, required to read X amount and not all of them. That might cure some of the problems. Duke freshman's moral stance against 'Fun Home' part of a larger movement “I knew from the beginning that this would be controversial,” Duke freshman Brian Grasso told Yahoo News and Finance Anchor Bianna Golodryga on Tuesday. Grasso sparked one of the first controversies of the 2015-2016 school year with a post on the Duke Class of 2019 Facebook page explaining that he would not read Alison Bechdel’s “Fun Home,” part of the school's recommended reading list for incoming freshmen, “because of the graphic visual depictions of sexuality.” “I feel as if I would have to compromise my personal Christian moral beliefs to read it,” Grasso wrote of the graphic-novel-turned-Tony-Award-winning Broadway musical that depicts a young Bechdel’s struggles with her own homosexuality and that of her fathers. And Grasso wasn’t alone. According to an article in the Duke Chronicle—which was subsequently picked up by news outlets nationwide—several students similarly said the book’s sexual imagery conflicted with their religious and moral beliefs.
  6. Not sure what was wrong with this guy, but he had to have been a few cards shy of a deck. White House fence jumper killed in Pennsylvania court attack (Reuters) - A man arrested for climbing a White House fence earlier this year was shot and killed at a suburban Pennsylvania courthouse on Tuesday after he sliced a sheriff's deputy with a knife, the local district attorney said. Curtis Smith, 34, is accused of entering the lobby of the Chester County Justice Center at about 11 a.m. and slashing a sheriff's deputy on the arm or hand, Chester County District Attorney Thomas Hogan said in a statement. A second deputy in the lobby drew his weapon and shot Smith, who was treated at the scene but later died at Paoli Hospital, Hogan said. "The armed attacker was immediately neutralized by the sheriff's deputies," Hogan said in a statement.
  7. In that article, I found this interesting; * Approved the provisional membership of Ashland Holy Family Collegiate, with postseason eligibility to begin in 2017-18 following a two-year candidacy period. 1. I am pretty aware of the non-KHSAA schools, especially the small Christian and Catholic ones, and I have NEVER heard of these guys, which surprises me. 2. They only go through the 8th grade from the info I found, and are fairly small (143 k-8) so why are they joining the KHSAA?
  8. Don't know this as a fact...BUT...I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that most on the council would have no problem with a planned parenthood kiosk opening in the airport if PP approached and asked.:idunno:
  9. Until Cincy gets an NFL team, then they are far behind both. Oh, wait a minute...
  10. Won't...take...the ...temptation...must...resist!:speechless:
  11. I grew up near Martinsville, so she was raised not far from my old stomping grounds. Also use to watch this station from time to time as we got it over the air. Just a horrible event...this man is pure scum of the earth.
  12. It would work for some teams...but as some have said above, it's not going to work for everyone, especially for bad teams...just might help lead them to getting beat even worse. But it's just like everything else...if you have good players you can add more options and do more. It's very easy for a coach to say "run the power I, it's the best offense and no one stops us" when that coach has 3-4 huge DI lineman and a stud fb and power running back. Same applies here.
  13. I pass by Western Anderson all the time. It's really sad to see it in the shape it's in now. Though not an Anderson Co native, I still hear fond stories of the old school from locals. I think it consolidated with Anderson Co. in the mid 80's and served as the west end elementary school up till about 10 years or so ago. Would love for it to still be around, though they didn't have football I have heard they and Anderson Co. used to really have some battles on the basketball court.
  14. While true, it doesn't have to be an "either/or" situation either. Some people get so wrapped it in what should essentially be "fleeting" emotions that they can't or choose not to look down the road, all they do is focus on the right now. If everyone snapped when they got really upset and either killed themselves or others, then there would be anyone left on this plant.
  15. Unfortunately TTP...you are correct.
  16. Sounds to me like he had ALWAYS been a car salesman...just did his work from the pulpit for a while.
  17. Stumbled on this after clicking on a couple of different links while perusing a Wikipedia article. I had never heard of this before, which surprises me. Any of you ever heard of it, especially our Catholic brethren? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Lady_of_the_Angels_School_fire A fire broke out at Our Lady of the Angels School shortly before classes were to be dismissed on Monday, December 1, 1958, in the basement near the foot of a stairway in the Our Lady of the Angels School in Chicago, Illinois. The elementary school was operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago and had an enrollment of approximately 1600 students. A total of 92 pupils and 3 nuns ultimately died when smoke, heat, fire, and toxic gasses cut off their normal means of escape through corridors and stairways. Many more were injured when they jumped from second-floor windows which, because the building had an English basement, were nearly as high as a third floor would be on level ground (c. 25 ft.).[1]
  18. I know what our pastor makes (as should anyone at their respective church), and I have to be honest...no way in the world does he make enough money with all that he is involved with. Weddings, funerals, hospital visits, counseling, teaching, preaching, camps, outreach...the list is almost never ending. I have my basketball ministry that I am involved with, but to be blunt, I'm glad the Lord didn't call me to be a full time minister. Takes a really special person to do it, and do it well.
  19. And by far the majority are. However, just like any segment of the population...teachers, police officers, dentists...they have their bad apples, and some can be really bad. It's just so shocking when you hear about it because most people just don't expect it. To be honest though, it has happened enough times in the recent past that...though we should still be shocked by it, we shouldn't be surprised.
  20. I'm really wondering what police force will be the first to have their officers approach cars with weapons at the "ready" as their primary policy until they assess the situation and don't see the need for it. I think we are heading that way.
