  1. Article in the paper said he had multiple D1 offers. The list included: Wright State UNC Ashville St Francis (PA) Columbia
  2. I saw this on the LaRosa MVP Website Busy Summer For Two Sport Star Drew McDonald What a busy summer for Newport Catholic two sport star Drew McDonald! In golf, he competed in, and won, several NKY 7-Up junior golf tour matches. As a member of the Kentucky Travelers basketball team, he played in the prestigious Peach Jam finals at the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League in South Carolina and the AAU National Basketball Finals in Louisville. Drew averaged 14.4 points and 7.5 rebounds for Newport Catholic his junior year, helping the Thoroughbreds to a second straight All "A" Classic state title.
  3. Are you saying it's your opinion Bolden and Snapp are close to equal?
  4. I have to agree with HeGotGame. While Snapp is a nice player, I don't feel he has proven enough to be considered Top 5 in the 9th Region.
  5. What exactly were his injuries and how serious were they?
  6. I agree. Problem is too much emphasis is put on athletism versus results. Drew, along with others, played against elite competition in the EYBL. Spaulding quitting forced McDonald to play out of position and against opponents 2 to 4 inches taller. Drew's numbers didn't drop. Still was the top 2 in most statistical categories. Second in points. Second in rebounds. First in blocks. Drew is able to adjust and play multiple role effectively. For a big man his passing skills are above average and IQ is off the charts. While there are players that score more or rebound more the complete game does not compare (IMO). 6'8" who can post up, rebound, bang down low, handle the ball, pass and step out and shoot the 3.
  7. @TravelersHoops: Travelers scoring from game 1 aau super showcase Beverly-6 Bolden-19, Justice-10, Rose-10, Perry-8, Sutton-6, Williams-10, McDonald-16
  8. Travelers 17u play in the super showcase at 9:20am and 2:40pm.
  9. Thanks for the explanation! I would have thought with their roster playing the best competition would overshadow a trophy. You now have a top 30 player who signed with UL. A lot if teams where complaining about all the press EYBL teams were getting and this seems like a perfect opportunity to see where you stack up?
  10. Why Nationals versus the showcase? Aren't the better teams in the showcase?
  11. I guess I'm slow..... Please fill in the blanks 1) CCH 2) Dixie 3) Dixie 4) Dixie 5) 6) 7) NCC
  12. You didn't give us how you would rank the teams. IMO Dixie isn't close to NCC. NCC is much stronger at almost every position. Point Guard, Post, and Experience. I would be impressed if Dixie stayed within 20. Dixie couldn't do it with Hatton and they surely don't have anyone with Hatton's ability on this team. NCC returns too much. No team in the 9th can match up with McDonald and Weyer down low and I love Pangallo's game. Again, IMO, this is a two dog race. I want to say that NCC is the clear favorite, however until they beat CCH, its tough to do. Everyone will question whether or not NCC has depth. One thru five they are the best in the 9th. I agree the Anderson's will surprise many and the Freppon kid plays with a ton of heart and rebounds. The younger Moeves can contribute and log some varsity minutes. Who on Dixie can guard McDonald? Pangallo? Weyer? McDonald/Pangallo might be the best guard/big combo in the state. Please give us your ranking.
  13. I would be interested in hearing how you rank the 9th. I know you can't put a ton of stock in summer ball, however NCC destroyed Holmes and Dixie. Beat Cooper twice. This should be interesting..........
  14. @RickBroering: KY Travelers dropped to 2-2 at the Peach Jam with a loss to Oak. Soldiers. McDonald had 6 pts and 12 boards against Zimmerman, who had 8 &10
  15. Walter - when we going to see the video?
  16. Maybe that is well deserved. Maybe you need to realize there is talent outside Louisville and Lexington. NKY had a pretty good year with 3 teams in the top 10 and the All "A" and the Sweet 16 State Champion!! I would argue there are names that haven't been mentioned that should. How about Zack Pangallo (PG - NCC). Two sport star that doesn't get the publicity from AAU.
  17. Walter - just curious how you make this statement? Have you been to watch them this year?
  18. So if your son started with a team and played 50% - 70% of a season and came to you and said he was UNHAPPY, would you: 1) Listen to his concerns and make sure you teach him about commitment and loyalty. Are you going to teach him sometimes in life it's not easy however you need to make the best of it. You don't quit. Finish what you started and next year we will re-evaluate what team is the best fit. OR 2) teach him to run just because things aren't going your way? Now, if the Travelers coaches or players are mis-treating him none of this matters and you leave the team. That's not what's happening here.
  19. So, it had nothing to do with lack of loyalty or finishing what you started? It couldn't of been because of playing time. I wouldn't think it's not getting along with other players. He played with Beverly, Bolden and Justice last year. I would think this would not look good to college coaches. What happened to finishing what you started? I would think the players on the travelers would feel a sense of betrayal and let down.
