Comments like these (there are plenty more floating around out there) make me wonder if people take the time to actually know who the players are. If you have listened to ANYTHING about Joey Votto, whether it be from players, coaches, etc. they all spout off the same thing. He is a hard worker and dedicated. Forget the money, it's not yours, mine or anyone on this boards money so who cares. I'm gonna rant a bit... The pessimism surrounding this guy is astounding. I don't live under a rock, I know he has had his struggles mentally and emotionally. But, we are not too far removed from him putting up mammoth numbers. Fact is he is a heck of a ball player and the Reds NEED him if they want to be successful. We can gripe all day long about his contract, but that is how these guys are getting paid these days until we have another Billy Beane type movement around the league. I think he has a stellar year and can't wait to watch and would much rather spend my time talking about what he might be able to accomplish this year instead of throwing in the towel before the season starts.

I don't get the vibe these players hate each other like other rivalries in sports. More like a mutual respect. Don't know if that makes it better or worse, just an observation.

One, it's not highly publicized, two hanging out with adult film actors isn't ideal image. Everyone has done things when it comes to hanging with their female friends, but not everyone is under the scrutiny of millions. All I'm trying to say is if they care about their public perception this may not be a good idea. Sounds cool, but I'd pass. Not trying to engage with a woman who has had sexual encounters with thousands of men.

Same one the other posters are alluding to. Sleeping around with porn stars isn't necessarily the image I would like to portray. Those choices could potentially be a breeding ground for other unfortunate events. Come on, I don't have to spell it out.

Cat's are winning games and sometimes it seems like they are sleep walking. One thing this team can take to the bank is their defense. The statistical matrix I saw the other day with the teams comprehensive defensive statistics is impressive. Defensive again is something that is not a fabrication... We shall see. Hopefully we won't need much luck like last year.
