  1. I totally agree, he sat there the last couple years watching that craziness, the whole time staying positive and being there for those boys. Knowing what I know now, that had to be awful hard. If I had a vote he would get mine...
  2. Hickory might have chose the wrong words to use, but to say nothing at Moco has been out of sorts the last few years is silly. If only 4 applicants indeed did apply, i'll agree with Rez, I'm not sure where the next coach will come from. "never has so little been known about so much".... I wish for once someone would really tell the truth about coaches getting fired, leaving, dismissed. ect ect. For me it gets old hearing all the stories and half truths about these guys. It's their careers and the way they feed their family's. If they did something truly wrong they should be held accountable. I honestly don't believe these guys did much of anything other than rubbing certain people the wrong way.
  3. Rez, I think this is very well said. I would compare the program at this point to the pre Happy teams. Every 3rd or 4th year they should be in the hunt for a region title. Fans and supporters will need to pull the reins back a little and let the teams develop. I wouldn't judge the team until March, you have to remember none of these kids have been the go to guy or the playmaker for others at the varsity level, it will take some time.
  4. I'm not sure the administration are the ones defining success.
  5. The only thing i have heard is one of the assistants...
  6. Haven't heard a word on Holland's next coaching job. He did mention in the local paper of "staying in the system" . I honestly don't believe that, I'm guessing that just a nice way to keep his checks coming from moco. The guy is to good of a coach to just get out now. Haven't heard any names for the moco job other than 1 maybe 2 assistants that have applied. I'm not sure who they could attract from across the state (or out of state) with what's happened here over the last 4 years. Anyone heard any names?
  7. The newspaper said the Louisville area i believe..
  8. I'm guessing there might not be anyone left to ask teams to play in their tournament. Kevin Letcher (a good guy/assistant AD)) is leaving the school system. I'm not sure who the other assistant AD is, or what current AD Gene Heffington is doing so I'm guessing Phil is next in line. The turnover in this school system is rather high.
  9. I really think the shock value is over for this. It's simply time to cash in. Bring on the books and movie deals. I certainly don't blame her.
  10. According to the mt sterling advocate, coach Holland will "remain in the system" . If he did in deed step down, I'm glad to see the administration has given him a job, that is clearly the right thing to do.
  11. Congratulations Evan!!! This program is getting a class young man. If there's anyone out there with move basketball running thru their veins please tell me who it is. (I know his brother lol) ...
  12. Not a big fan of some of the things that have happened in SC over the years, however having been to a couple of their practices over the years, I can honestly say they really give the kids all they got as a staff when it comes to player development. Very impressed with that part of coach Hick's program.
  13. "Unless Coach Holland was doing something inappropriate or unethical (which I 100% sincerely doubt), " I'm with you 100%, I'm sure hoping this wasn't another case of this happening. If any assistants out there are reading this, please just walk away. Unless the head coach is doing something illegal it's not your place to run to administration or my all time favorite run to the nearest wealthy parent. (preferred choice) I'll try to ask some of the parents from the team and get there take. This could be speculation or it could have some truth to it..
  14. "Some that are very close to the situation feel that the assistants were instrumental in the change. " If this is true, that's very sad....
  15. "You have no idea what you are talking about. Things will play out as they should." Demarcus please enlighten me as to "things will play out as they should"... I'm curious what your take is on this.. thx
  16. jmo, But Jason would be a great pick for this administration and where they want this program to head. Under the current culture this coach will have to think outside the box. He's been around that way of thinking most of his coaching career and should flourish.
  17. The girls program has had tremendous success, but it has been accomplished the old fashion way. Early fundamentals, organized team play, ect ect... I think this has also helped to manage parent expectations a little more than the boys. I've seen a few crazy moms and dads at girls games but overall I never got the feeling there were that many. Winning also cures a lot of the sourness imo. Not all of the sourness can be weeded out, but lets face it, if you win the region 8 out of 10 years (or what ever it is) most administrations will be in your corner , when it comes to dealing with parents... Over the last 4 plus years the boys program has had its share of "strong personalities". Once that doors opens for 1 parent, it continues to swing for the next parent. Truly a shame, but like many communities that's just the way it is.
  18. The current culture is just that, win at all costs. Holland would have taken what he has and been just fine. I'm looking for the next coach to come from "in house"
  19. Boom, you are correct... Winning is not in the picture. If their kid is playing its all good, if they sit, their unhappy even if the team is winning games.
  20. The returning team at Moco had nothing to do with Holland leaving..
  21. First, the "money guy" is not misguided...and yes the culture is much different at moco, then 10 years ago. Empowering certain parents began 2 years ago, this guy is just taking his turn.
  22. Not trying to pile on Mercer co, but the parent issues at many schools (imo 90%+) across Kentucky are at an all-time high. Bulldog_Chem is spot on, to not think that parents didn’t play into this in some way is plan silly. The parent issues have no boundaries. They come from the rich the poor the clueless the educated and even from past players and alumni. Here are my 2 favorites… “the booster family” Many good coaches have been ran off by the "booster family" , each school has one, some have several. I'm honestly not sure what the answer is for this type of parent, many people say it takes a strong administration to support their coach. I can't count the number of "strong administrations" who have buckled to the "booster family" , it happens every day and it will continue to happen as long as those families are associated with the sports program. “the NBA parent” The newest threat comes from the “NBA parent”. This one takes their kid to their 2nd or 3rd school because the old coach was no good. (I.e joey not getting enough shots) Along the way they trash the school and coach to anyone that will listen. This parent type belongs in the “clueless” group. The answer to this one is simple, LET THEM GO….. I could go on and on as I have seen them all, I think you get my point. I’ve sat in the stands for the last 30 years I heard things come out of parents mouths that simply amaze me. If I had to have daily or weekly meetings with those nuts, I think I would resign to………… p.s sorry I needed to vent.....
