Rocky..He made a comment within the thread. That's what it has to do with it. Did you not read the thread how a pitcher the year before done well against them and wouldn't give up a certain amount of runs? With that being said, I felt last years hitting was much better.

In regards to the mound comment, the only thing I would say is that the Raider team hitting that year compared to the one this past year were not even close to being as good. JMO!

I saw him a few times last year also and I would say he is a Great Hitter but Average with the leather. If he can sure up the leather, then I think he could possibly be thrown in that mix.

The one thing that I look at is, what quality teams has Cooper beaten. They've been in some close games with some solid teams, but the only one that even comes as big win would be CCH. Not saying any of the Cooper pitchers don't have what it takes but this has yet to be proven. Who have some of these kids faced and beat to put them over the hump? Just wondering!

Holland looks to be in pretty good shape and I would think he would possibly be in the outfield. Hawthorn I think would be the first baseman. I forgot about Crail....he would be a nice reliever or spot starter along with a few of the other players I mentioned in another post. Love Este...just don't know if he can get in the line-up with being a one dimensional player. Should be interesting to see how things shake out. We could all be off on what will happen...:popcorn:

3 Goggles, I would say McMahon would fill one of the spots for sure. Drags, Wise and Dickerson haven't stepped on the varsity field, so I just don't know. All 3 are very solid players for sure. Just don't know how they will react at the Varsity level. I would hope that since there are so many seniors that one or more of them step up the leadership role to make the move up easier on the younger players.

You did hear right hja1224. Workouts were not started til the kids went back in January. I personally was blown away. From what I understand, that is what Ryle does, so that was carried over to Cooper. Don't agree with it but what can you do. You do exactly what you said in regards to working on your own. That's what my boy did. That IMO is way too much of a layoff.

Just to make sure this is understood, I can tell you that coddling NEVER took place under Coach Bieger. Coach Bieger expected the players to approach him over the parents also. So....this should be nothing new to the Cooper boys. The thing that has to be remembered is a great coach is also a great teacher. Coach/Teacher go hand in hand IMO.

First thing will be if Coach Collins will be able to push the right buttons on the kids and realize they are individuals with individual buttons. I coached for many years and I believe in knowing what is each kids button, since they are not all the same. If that can be done, I would think that would get the ship sailing in the right direction. In regards to the players they did lose 3 very good players from last year in Blank, Carr and Collins. Burgous, Lawhorn, Dunn, Hawthorn, Holland and Fussinger I think would be the first 6 in their line-up. 7,8 & 9 I can't really think of who would fill those spots in the line-up. In regards to the pitching I would think Dunn, Lawhorn, Turner and McMahon would be their top 4. Hawthorn over the years has proven not to have the tank and is better served as a closer. The loss of Smith to golf is a huge loss IMO, but they do have some youth that can come in and fill that gap. Hellbird, I don't like the idea of a catcher/pitcher either. I think Fuss will have to make a decision to do one or the other. If he pitched that well in the summer then I would say, "Your on the BUMP Kid". Bottom line to me, is that the jury is out until we see what the coach will do with the boys. They can be one of two things. One....Very Good or two Average.

Not going to knock the coach, but just because he played at CCH and coached in a program with another CCH coach and it was Freshman, doesn't really mean anything IMO. Don't forget the previous coach was from CCH. Hopefully he will be able to do what you say, but I wouldn't base my judgement based off of what you mentioned. JMO! I hope your right in regards to basically getting the team to achieve as they should have for the last few years. They have underachieved the last few years and it would be nice to see this team do what they should have been doing.

PITCHING....Who are they and how many innings did they even throw at the varsity level? Hitting is their strong point. Pitching though?

Mason has always had the supporting cast. This might be the year that he will have more pressure on him. I truly hope that he does very well. In regards to the other comment. The bar has been set very high for Dunn since he was a freshman and has the most to prove at the high school level. If he was to play like he does in the summer, he could make things very tough on the opponent. Supporting cast could will obviously play a role.

A lot of very good kids on this list. I guess the funny thing is, is that it isn't even 10 kids. If you are going to put a top 10, make it 10 and not 12.

Throw stats out the window! These guys are professional at what they do. They look at the basics and how a kid may project. These guys do show up at games and watch kids during the season. Not going to say they see every kid. If you look at someone like PBR or Perfect Game, all I say is they must be doing something right when you see where these kids are going. I would say they are pretty good evaluators. I don't look at this as speculation what-so-ever! JMO!

The Forbes kid has game for sure. Actually shocked on Dunn considering were I've seen him ranked. Oh well, guess we'll have to see how things shake out.

This is an interesting list after looking at the PBR information. Only 4 of the names listed on this list are in the top 20 of their classes in the state. Nothing against any of these kids, they are all very good players for sure. Makes me wonder if the PBR List is actually legit based off whoever @NKYbaseball is. :popcorn:

Huff is a solid call. Coach Sanders doesn't shy away from anyone, that's for sure.

The only thing for me is that he has the better supporting cast compared to some of the others mentioned. I feel that does make a difference. If any of the others you mentioned step up and put on a show, then I would think the honor would go to one of them. Remember 3 BW guys in the mix could break up the voting. Other than that, add Pangallo to the list and that would be pretty solid start. JMO!

That is true Clyde, but I would say this crop is a little closer talent wise compared to when Maile played. He seemed to stand out well above his peers. JMO!

Interesting! I was under the impression that the velocity is lost due to the fact that they keep a Cutter arm angle and then struggle to be able to get back on top of the ball to have their normal fastball. I would think any time you supinate i.e. cutter/slider/curve pitches it can take it's toll. That's JMO!
