  1. You might have a point but isn't Payton Manning still with the Colts for now?
  2. Gage went down with a knee early on in the Elizabethtown game. He was out until the playoffs. He should return healthy and I am hoping there are no lingering effects from the knee injury. It will be interesting to see if he runs track this spring where there will also be plenty of speed as well with Nussbaum and Vocke in the fold.
  3. My wife wanted to lend our St. Bernard to BW figuring the barrel he has around his neck will hold plenty of water for the team. I fought that idea tooth and nail. I am not ready to give up the bourbon he brings me every night in my reading chair.
  4. I was actually making a joke about my daughters playing football at Beechwood. The basis of the post was a response to those who raise their eyebrows when a student wants to transfer to another school as if it was scandalous in nature. I did not mean for my post to indicate that tuition students did not have an opportunity to play football. Heck Cameron Vocke disproves that theory single handedly.
  5. If Beechwood's Mitchell Thomas gets the reps he will be in consideration in his Junior year but more likely as a Senior. He has "homerun" potential on every snap. Not sure on his exact stats but it seems like his Yards Per Carry was between 15 and 20 as a Sophomore. Another blazer to compliment Nussbaum.....if Nussbaum plays in the backfield and I see no reason why he won't. Throw in another blazer, Gage Erdman, if he returns healthy, and now you have a triple threat without mentioning who might be under center.
  6. If no other schools are having the quantity of breakage issues that you are experiencing then it might be a production issue. I would imagine that these helmets are linked to a serial number or a unique ID that can track when they were made and other vital information. Check with Ridell to see if that is the case. If other schools received helmets from the same lot number then Ridell can contact them to see if it is indeed a common problem.
  7. Living in Fort Mitchell only waves the tuition at Beechwood. If you want to pay the outside of Beechwood district fee then you could come from anywhere. It might seem a bit unfair to some but what Beechwood has done is put together sustainable top notch athletic, music and scholastic programs. They have worked hard to give families a reason for wanting to come there for a myriad of reasons. We moved to Fort Mitchell so our girls could get a great education. Unless Coach Rash relents, neither will be playing football.
  8. Before the season I heard he was leaning to EKU. Have not heard much since. He was at the Ole Miss camp last summer.....not sure what kind of looks he got there.
  9. We moved to Fort Mitchell two years ago. Unless my 2 youngest girls can convince Coach Rash to let them play football then we definately moved for the Beechwood academic experience. At this point I have no idea if my two youngest will even play a sport. My oldest stayed behind to finish high school in Michigan so she could continue playing lacrosse. She is being heavily recruited to play college lacrosse but her grades will get her the lion's share of the scholarship money as is the case with many Beechwood kids. I am not the only parent that realizes this.
  10. Again, Beechwood (Fort Mitchell) is an independent school district, just like Ft. Thomas. There are several students, not just athletes, that live outside of Fort Mitchell and attend Beechwood for the academics. The only bus that Beechwood owns sits in the school parking lot 24/7 and fires up the engines only to transport teams or groups to an event. I did not think of this before, but maybe the Beechwood bus is stopping at football players' homes outside of Fort Mitchell on the way home from events and letting the kids sleep in the bus until school starts the next morning.
  11. Beechwood vs. anyone along the Bourbon Trail. The road trips now become more exciting.
  12. I would like to see Beechwood play a small school team from across the river. Yes we scrimmaged Goshen this year and it was a blood letting and it was a scrimmage. Who is a small school power from across the river? Beechwood and Hazard could be fun but that could happen in the playoffs perhaps.
  13. I would have to go with Jackson of Mayfield as I think LB will be his college position as well. Having seen Max Nussbaum for two years has me slotting him at a close second even though I think he will be a safety in college.
  14. I totally agree. Coach Rash is always concerned not to run up the score and I admire that. It seems like teams are mostly accused of running up the score when you throw the ball. With that being said, if you are fairly sure your game is going to be a blowout, then work on the passing in the beginning of the game. If you are going to get 400 yards a game rushing you do not need it by halftime. Nobody doubts Beechwood is a strong running team even with the subs in.
  15. It's tough. Sports and emotions see both ends of the spectrum together. Often they are like oil and water. I played hockey for my dad for 10 years in my youth and he was one of the most stoic and calm individuals I had ever known. One game, when a brawl broke out, I saw my dad with the other coach in a headlock. It happens often in hockey but it was totally out of character for my dad so the incident drew a fair amount of attention.
  16. I am not sure who on Beechwood's staff made excuses and blamed that one event for the loss. Coach Rash stated his opinion, which he is entitled to, that he thought the play was interference but it was part of a hard fought game and he was proud of his players. Even some Mayfield fans though it could have been interference and that there were other non-calls in the game for each side. I think if you look hard enough, there could be a potential penalty on almost every play. Yes, the emotions reached a new level but that can hardly be deemed a microcosm of the Beechwood program. It's quite the contrary and that's why I think a key reason that people reacted to what they saw in the manner they did.
  17. It looks like we will see more of Max and the wildcat next year. Your thoughts?
  18. Your hole is waiting for you to crawl back into. Once in, I will go to Kroger and buy all the rings you want from the gumball machine and pour them into your hole so you can wallow in them forever.
  19. You might want to consider some "couch" time if this is still some lingering head trash after a year.
  20. Many injuries and the next man in did a fine job. What adversity was there?
  21. Totally agree unless BW finds some offensive balance. I see no sign of a passing attack in the next year, at least. Expect more of the wildcat next year. Might be a good idea to work on some passing game reps in some of these local blowouts especially in the beginning of the game so no one is accused of running up the score. Hats off to the Cards.
  22. Coach Rash made a comment last year to the effect of, "If we are having Thanksgiving dinner at the Beechwood school commons on Thanksgiving Day, then we have had a good year."
  23. So do we! All kidding aside, this is the matchup we all have been pointing to. I hope all the fans and players of both teams enjoy the game. It will be the last time some players step on the football field. Win our lose, cherish the game as the classic it should be.
