My son pitched in a wood-bat tourney in Tenn. this summer. He did extremely well, a 3 hit,14k performance against the #5 ranked team in ther country at the time.

I am willing to bet that the average score this season will be higher than last year......I ONLY say this because, more than likely, the weather HAS to be better than last year. My point is that the weather is a bigger factor than the bat's "coefficient of return". I like the new standards, and having seen my share of wooden bat tournaments, I understand the psychological aspect of stepping up to the plate without confidence in the old broom-handle. What do you guys think?

At The Yard in Florence on Weaver Rd. They don't use pitching machines, you can reserve time in their cage to throw your own batting practice, or the owner Chris Hook will arrange for an instructor for you. These guys are top-notch.

Bob Mullins' name was being thrown around this fall, did they hire him?

I saw 5 or 6 of their pitchers at a showcase this past weekend. They had several kids with good velocity. I don't know how well that translates to a real pitching mound, though. Has anybody seen this team pitch? How about the rest of the team, hitting and fielding? They don't seem to play anybody from my area(N.Ky), but I was impressed.

I had overheard some kids saying that he was going to focus on his studies instead. I don't know Cody, but I have seen him play a half-dozen times, and that is why it didn't make sense to me...........cause that guys a ballplayer.

Teegarden pitched well for the Roosters this summer/fall. I think Barickman and Ganns are two leftys that will surprise some this spring. Eglian, Schwartz, Stanley, are all seniors with experience on the bump. There are some other underclassmen with arms as well for Boone.

Who are the #1 and #2 pitchers at CovCath this year? Maile and Severson? At Beechwood? Smith and Gohs? Boone Co? Barickman and Teegarden? What about some of the other schools in the ninth?

Is Cody Gohs playing this year? I had heard that he wasn't. Beechwood would really miss him this spring. Everybody loves the "Bobcat", unless you have to pitch to him..........quickest bat around.

Is this a Boone/Ryle contest this year? Or will Conner and Cooper step it up? Who are the impact players going to be from each of these teams?

Does anybody know where Shane Fowler from Harrison is now? Didn't he graduate last year? He must be playing somewhere. I saw him in one game last year and he looked like a ballplayer to me.

Does anybody know when the high school baseball schedules are posted? Is there an official date for the KHSAA to release these, or is it more of a school/district/region choice as to when schedules are released?

How old is your kid? A lot of the high school teams workout throughout the winter. Some of the coaches bring in promising 7th and 8th graders every year to workout and take bp and the like. At The Yard in Florence has excellent programs for pretty much any age group. The kids love Chris and the guys down there. It's also a great place to meet other players and coaches.

How did the Roosters fare this weekend?

I heard Lankheit met with the Tenn. Tech head coach after one of the games. I haven't seen Addison Brown play, but heard he is one to watch this year as well. I know the boys are looking forward to playing at EKU next week, should be fun.

Can anybody recap the four games these boys are playing this weekend? There are some talented teams down there this weekend. I wish I could have gone.

#20 from Boone is Robbie Hiles.........He has been playing like this all year.

Junior Davidson. I know all of the boys love the guy.

I heard rumblings that Junior won't be back at Boone this year. Anybody know anything about this?

Robbie Hiles is having another big game at linebacker for Boone County. The kid has worked hard and I am glad to hear he is having a great season.
