Clay County was only mentioned in one poll (AP), but earned enough points there to make the BCS Top 25.

The BCS (BluegrassPreps Composite system) combines human (BGP, AP) and computer (Cantrall, LIT) into one ranking. 25 points are awarded for a 1st place ranking, 24 for 2nd, and so on. School had an explosion in October of 1980, killing 1 student. SK was forced to have school at night at Dixie HS while the school was repaired. Overcame odds to win the State Championship. There's a book about it too..."Pioneer Spirit". Great read!
