  1. A real shame. I'm sure she would have had a terrific senior year.
  2. One stat I haven't heard mentioned that I thought was interesting is Gayheart's double double. As a point guard she grabs 10 rebounds against a team with some quality bigs. I haven't seen all the stats at this point but I would think she had to be close to leading rebounder in the game. That stat made a big difference in the game.
  3. That's not what I said Gayheart is rated #1 McMurtrey is rated #7. I think McMurtrey will finish in the top 5 at the end of the year. If she does it won't be Gayheart's place that she takes.
  4. I have had a chance to see Gayheart a couple of times this summer she looks like she's taken her game to a even higher level. Her basketball IQ is off the charts. I did not see Whitfield this summer but I'm sure as you say she has improved as well. They are both great players let's just say we are lucky to have them both in the 8th region. I also think that McMurtrey will surprise people by how much she's elevated her game during the off season. IMO she will be top 5 for sure when the voting is finished at end of the year.
  5. McMurtrey is rated as #7 in this years Cats Pause and will probably remain that or higher in most pre season polls so I don't think that is unrealistic at all. As far as Gayheart she's a little better than top 5. IMO and many others as proven by her being named Player of the Year last year she is the best player in the region hands down. I would agree with you in that for these 2 players there team comes first so anything other than a win means nothing.
  6. I remember this conversation and I'm not seeing the young stud from the south and the solid player from the east on the Walton roster this year. So my statement stands you have no idea.
  7. No problem I was just making sure you weren't spilling the beans on a Big East School. Also I wouldn't read to much into who goes where and what conference they end up in. Kids pick schools for many different reasons. It doesn't mean that was the only choice they had.
  8. I hope Whitfield didn't just sign a LOI with a Big East Team that would be another Big East recruiting violation.
  9. That's good stuff Grooms!!!! I was drinking and actually blew Mountain Dew through my nose when I read that. Coach Mefford through the years has always got the most out of the team he has had. Devine is a great player and has had every chance to transfer if she chose to. You see where she's playing her senior season.
  10. I do think that Gayheart will be a Beast this year. I believe she is one of the top 5 players in the state and as the season goes may prove to be even higher. Owen has some very good talent and I agree I can see them being right in the thick of it come tournament time.
  11. Congrats to Jasmine!!! and good for the 8th region. Should be a exciting year in the 8th with 2 players ranked in the top ten for the class of 2012 (Whitfield and Gayheart) and a lot of other talent spread around.
  12. It's pretty simple people want to come to Walton.
  13. Translation........ I have no idea
  14. I agree. I'm simply saying he has experience coaching at a High Level. His experience seemed to be a concern to some.
  15. I agree there are a lot of good coaches in the 8th no doubt. Mark has worked with most of this same group of parents for years under the same parent coach circumstances. Dan Sullivan would have been a great choice, but I believe Walton now has the best of both worlds having both Mark and Dan on the coaching staff. As far as Marks experience being "no where close to coaching varsity" I would agree. He has coached for years against teams that would drum most varsity teams and he has done it with great success. He has coached against the best of the best High School players year in and year out. Mark knows the game and has more experience with this group of players than anyone. Mark was a great choice and Walton is very lucky to have him.
  16. This is a big catch for NKU and a great fit. I know this girl has has worked long and hard on her game and it shows. Dominant player on the court and a great person off the court. So Congratulations Rianna (aka 3anna) you've earned it!!!!!
  17. Thanks for the link Sarge. That should end the wild speculation. Puts all this chatter in perspective. All the best to Coach Miller.
  18. I agree it is the job of the administration to retain good coaches. However in this case there is nothing the administration could do.
  19. I agree with you totally that Coach Miller is a great Coach. I also agree with Khalid that there are some parents who are over the top in public which I think is wrong. However that is not totally unique to Walton but still doesn't make it right. The speculation that parents/fans or the school had anything to do with Coach Millers decision to resign is totally false. Also the notion of good Coaches being leary of coming to Walton because of a out of control fanbase is absurd. Go back and look these same things were being said "buyer beware" "Walton will have a tough time getting any quality coaches to apply" before Trame and Miller were hired both excellent coaches. There will be many solid coaches that apply for the Walton job.
