I agree Nell has accomplished a great deal, but the games are played by the girls and talent ussually prevails. Right now ryle has the talent. Nell has 11 banners , but I would venture to say she had the most talent the majority of the time. she probably even lost a few years she should have won. I'm not taking anything away from her , great coach but players win games.

I agree with everything except it only being a two team race last year. While Ryle did beat NCC last year in the regional, that gamewasn't over till the final seconds. If those two teams had to play 10 times based on that game neither team would have won more than 6 or 7 game tops. the game was hotly contested. the big difference was Jump i believe it was hit five 3's I would think. One of which was at least 25 ft out with just over a minute to play and NCC was leading. I might be partial but those two teams were definately able to compete with the other two.

Ryle has played a very tough schedule this year, and have represented themselves very well. The tough competition should help them come regionals. The one thing that makes me worry is with all the travel to florida and to all of the other tournaments could it effect their legs late in the season. I'm all for pplaying a tough schedule, but playing 30 games within a short trip, is not the same as 30 games all over the place. I hope it doesn' t slow them down against the likes of Boone Co. Ryle was my pick early on and their play hasn't changed my mind. They are young and should be able to keep their legs fresh. NCC also seems to be settting themselves up to challenge for the 9th region also.

I wasn't at the game, but that does sound like a huge moment in the game. If that foul isn't called and St Heney goes up 7 who knows what happens from there. We all have to live with the calls the refs make though iI think they are right more than they are wrong most nights. It would have been interesting to see how both teams would have responded if that call wasn't made. Basketball is a game that rides on momentum. Would the St henry girls ridden that spark to victory or would NCC been able to stay focused and still fought back or would they have folded under the pressure. We'll never Know but I do Know coach Dawn keeps his girls focused and always gives them a chance in the end. Not being there I didn't get to see the play but I'm going to guess the charge was taken by #5 Hannah Theim. She is well scooled at this and I have seen her to it time and again, often changing the flow of the game.

St henry seniors have to be feeling the pressure though. the past several years they have had a solid team that most years would have gone tolexington a few years, but have had the misfortune of hitting a very hot streak in NCC girls basketball in this tournament. The 3 starting seniors for NCC aren't going to let that streak come to an end easily. looking for a low scoring 2-5 pt victory for NCC. Janszen and company I'm sure won't go easily either with this being alot of those girls last chance to experience state.

I don' disagree she teaches her kids to believe in themselves, but I'm sure other coaches teach it just as well as her. Ron Dawn has had pretty much success getting his kids to believe in themselves, its part of being a coach.

Wow! Surprising score. Looks like ND had the game and let it slip away. Sounds like a great game to watch. NDA is definately a team on the rise, they have excellent coaching. The will definately be a force come regionals.

I sort of agree with you' but if you are obviously that superior to a team, you can sub quicker than that. Someone said moss only played three quarters. in a blowout like that it seems to be alot. also someone said she was coaching them to get ready for districts. A team can't learn anything in a game like this that will help them against a team like Ryle. Games like this cause players to start bad habits, because against quality opponents the same balls that they force into steals and easy baskets because they can take chances will end up being layups for quality teams like Ryle. Bad habits can become contagious when you get to use to dominating your competition. leaving starters in a games like this is just to allow your girls to pad there stats and players of Moss's caliber don't need to do that. last year when my daughter played at NCC half of there games were blowouts and Ron pulled the girls as soon as he felt they had a comfortable lead. Usually by half time and occassionally after the first quarter ( Holmes 25 pt lead after 1st quarter.approximately) as a parent I sometimes got frustrated with that., but Ron was also teaching more than basketball he was teaching sportsmanship and class.

I never thought she was selfish. She definately looks for her teammates but they don't seem to look for any offense of their own. they play hard on defense but seem to wait for her to do everything on offense. i have seen her play twice and she took most f her teams shots. Most coaches will tell you in order to be successful as a team a leader must make her teammates better.They were 1 and 1 in the 2 games I saw and except for one girl that would cut to the basket while multiple defenders chased Greenwell on the perimeter none of the other girls seem to look to get into any offensive flow. She and her coaches must demand that of her teammates if she wants her highschool career to be anything more than huge numbers. With her talent and some agressive play from her teammates, they should definately win an all A title or two by the time she is done. I look forward to seeing her in college she is a special talent. does she play any in northern ky i would love to catch it if she does.

I'm sure she has her choice of schools. Alot of kids that don't put the team first has their choice of schools. carrying your team in a particular game doesn't mean she understands team concept. What is she averaging a game. Watched her play in the all A and she carried them in the Lex Christian game. I don't mean to disrespect the rest of the girl but that girl was off the charts. How is the team doing as a whole. I'm interested if she uinderstands team goals are first, and she needs to make the players around her better for them to be successful.

Does that mean since highlands doesn't play Trinity it cant't be considered the best. Football more than anyother sport is dependent on numbers. larger schools will generally always win if the schools have rich traditions. That doesn't mean they shouldn't play larger schools. it is a great way to improve and test yourselves, but it shouldn't be the end all of a great program.

Should not matter percentage of difference is what causes an inbalance. if its 100 to 200 or 1000- 2000 there are still twice as likely to get better athletes than the other. they might not be the studs the larger schools get but generally the talent differece is going to be that much better. 100% more to choose from is a 100% more , regardless.

I'm not sure how it works but Sidney Moss was able to play basketball for Boone when she lived in Ryle's district. So there are definately ways around it.

They need to reduce the nuimber of classes to 5. that won't solve all the problems but it will reduce some of the chnces of schools dominating year in and year out. And if X and T are the best then they should meet in the championship each year.

I think Highlands might then still dominate the 4A class leaving us with the same problem. Just kidding but it might not be that big of stretch

Coaches can't coach without talent. You can't win all the games NCC did on coaching alone. Scoring is not the only talent needed to play basketball. Theese girls have played man to man D all year pressing and forcing the action. You can't play man to man all year and not have athletes. They have 6to8 wins against teams that have been ranked at one tme or the other. they have lost 3 games all to teams that were also ranked by a total of 18 points. Ron is a hell of a coach but you don't do that without talent. And as far as allowing you your opinion I'm not able to take that away, just as you can't take mine away.

Disagree with the talent statement, but you have the right to tour opinion. They won and that means they were best on that night. NCC was not overmatched they had the lead with just over a minute and didn't make the plays they needed to. I think if they played 10 times the winning team couldn't win more than 6 of them. I definately see your point but from strictly a logical stand pointe, removing emotion. It makes sense to make everyone play under the same rules. As far as the other regions not seeding, I'm sure that if a team much less talented than another made the tournament then there would be the same thing going on there.If everyone did a draw then I wouldn't have a problem with it.I just want uniformity. My team won their district and made the region and I still don' like it. As far as Ky not Classify basketball it has been proven that in basketball unlike Football it is easier to compete for smaller schools. You need 5 staters and afew bench players and if you have 2 truely quality players and 3 others that know their role they can compete. In football you need so many more players, smaller schools can't compete.One great running back will get killed without a good line.

A little early for congadulation to be given. I guess you sawmore in the Bellevue game than I did.

In the game I saw in the All A HC dribbled way to much. and had it stolen quite a bit. They did have some athletes, but didn' show much patience or teamwork with the ball. I'll take SH by 10.
