Starting pitcher Alicia Miller (W, 11-11) was in control throughout the contest, allowing only an unearned run in the third inning. She finished her outing giving up eight hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Her counterpart, NKU's Emily Schwaeble (L, 16-4), struck out nine batters and allowed two walks in the six-inning performance. Centerfielder Cynthia Brown's outfield assist at home plate to catcher Scarlett Powers on Norse centerfielder Kaylin Steinmetz with two outs in the seventh inning preserved the Bellarmine win in a thrilling fashion. Bellarmine, despite only totaling two hits for the game, scored their runs early, as shortstop Megan Murdoch belted her eighth homerun of the season, driving in leadoff hitter Lauren Summe in the first inning. Left fielder Erin Sireno was the only other BU player with a hit in the game, a single down the left field line in the second inning.

Well not that much. Our starting lineup right now is Pitcher (Freshman), First Base (Junior), Second Base (Senior), Shortstop (Sophomore), Third Base (Sophomore), Catcher (Junior), Left Field (Sophomore) Center Field (Junior) and Right Field (Senior). Top subs Junior, Top Courtesy Runners etc (Sophomores). We don't play kids both JV and Freshmen. We spread them out so that everyone was going to get to play. We moved up what we needed for the JV team and left some very good players on freshmen team.

Bishop Brossart has no freshmen now on their freshmen team. As a matter of fact 5 of their best eighth graders are playing on the junior varsity team. The freshmen team has 10 7th graders and 10 8th graders. They defeated Dixie Heights 13-2 on Tuesday and the Bishop Brossart JV is undefeated. We have three freshmen on JV and one Freshman starting varsity on a team that is 7-1

:taz:Unfortunately late rain has forced cancellation of the Bishop Brossart and Nicholas County All ""A Classic game at Pendery Park. Nicholas Co. was in the middle of a huge storm also during their trip. Due to the Holy Days this weekend and Nicholas County losing their seniors most of next week. This game may be played the following Saturday. TBA. The game was to feature Bishop Brossart 7-1 and Nicholas Co. 8-0

Good call Porky. Some of us have more pressing things than sitting on gators all day chomping cheetos. Carroll Co. has a nice team. I did an overall report of the tournament and posted that. The finals weren't over til almost 9. It was a long day. Ludlow is improved also and beat Notre Dame after we beat them 12-1 in four. Carroll has a new coach this year and will be a spoiler in the 8th Region. They won our pool and then led Conner 3-2 after 6 innings before Conner had two nice hits and got a break to beat them in the last inning 5-3. If you noticed our tourney was so balanced that every single team had a loss. We finished third and had Notre Dame beat Ludlow would have advanced as pool champion to final. Bourbon Co. finished 4th, Grant Co. 6th and Bracken Co. 7th. The competition will help us. You get better playing good teams. Next up a good Nicholas Co. team in the All "A" Opener. They can hit.

Notre Dame had up and down tourney beating Grant Co. 7-5 and Carroll Co. 7-2 but losing to Bishop Brossart 7-3 and Ludlow 7-6.

Conner won the 3rd Annual Uncle Pete Noll Invitational at Softball City. The Lady Cougars rallied from a 3-2 deficit to defeat Carroll County in the sixth inning for a 5-3 win. It was a great evenly balanced tourney. The Final Standings: 1. Conner (3-1) 2. Carroll County (2-2) 3. Bishop Brossart (2-1) 4. Bourbon County (2-1) 5. Notre Dame (2-2) 6. Grant County (2-2) 7. Bracken County (1-3) 8. Ludlow (1-3) Pool Champions were Conner and Carroll County.

The Lady 'Stangs of Bishop Brossart opened play Friday night in the 3rd Annual Uncle Pete Noll Invitational at Softball City. The Pandas of Notre Dame, as expected proved to be a much improved team. In the end though Bishop Brossart continued it's ten year winning streak over the Pandas winning 7-3. Notre Dame struck first scoring in the first on a error and a single to take a 1-0 lead but Brossart tied it in the second when Molly Williams beat out an infield single and eventually scored on a pitch that flew out of the pitchers hand and went behind the mound to tie it 1-1. When Notre Dame went ahead again 2-1, Tricia Kramer opened with a double and later scored on a wild pitch to tie it again. That brought the fateful fourth inning when Williams opened things with a single and then stole second. With one out Allie Anstead doubled home Williams, Taylor Hardy singled and Shannon Kramer walked to load the bases. A Kramer infield hit produced a 4-2 lead when pinch runner Caroline Woeste scored. Freshmen pitcher Karlie Shackelford then slammed a three run triple to make it 7-2 and the 'Stangs were in business. Tricia Kramer and Molly Williams both finished 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Shackelford had 3 rbis and Anstead has a double. Sophomore catcher Laura Finke had three hits for the Pandas. Shackelford went 6 innings allowing 5 hits and only one earned run while striking out three. She and the team are now a perfect 6-0. The tourney will be in a two hour delay Saturday so they will now play Ludlow at 12:30 and Carroll County at 2:30 at Softball City. Molly Williams Pic:

Yes it took Dixie Heights 11 innings to beat Ludlow. But I guess we wont know now. It's an NKAC game so it has to be made up. The bad thing about spring sports is they don't sign contracts because of the weather. Then anyone can cancel on you with no good reason. In most sports we have contracts with forfeit fees. If both teams don't agree then they have to pay a stiff penalty. In football and basketball that could be $2500 or higher.

You would have to take Highlands but both teams have been a bit untested so far so it is too early to evaluate based on scores. Highlands offense seems to be on a roll though right now. I think Shamrock evaluated it well.

Well this may the most uninformed comment ever on here. I think we DO KNOW who plays on our own team. Juniors Maria and Emily both play varsity and Erin plays on our freshmen team. Maybe the ole Wildcat has been celebrating UK too much lol.

:ylsuper:You could probably say “Mam Mia” after the Lady 'Stangs of Bishop Brossart ran their record to a perfect 5-0 in Erlanger, Kentucky today. Brossart, led by Maria “Mama” Greis' perfect 5 for 5 day at the plate beat a much improved Lloyd Memorial team on the road 10-3. Greis slammed three doubles in the 1st, 6th and 7th innings and added singles in the 3rd and 4th innings to help Tom Baynum's club build a 6-0 lead enroute to the easy NKAC Division II win. She had two rbis, and scored 3 runs. They have now outscored opponents 64-8 and will get two days rest and practice before defending their own Uncle Pete Noll Tournament this weekend at Softball City. Lloyd, last week almost knocked off 8th Region contender Simon Kenton falling 2-1 and had some nice wins so far over Scott (15-2), Perry Co. Central (10-1) and Bath Co. (16-15). Brossart played today without yesterday's hero Tricia Kramer, the team's leading hitter (.750). The junior centerfielder and leadoff batter, who reached base 4 times yesterday and tied the school record for stolen bases in a game with 6, was held out of todays game with a minor injury and will be ready to go this weekend. In the fourth inning they also lost sophomore Gretchen Trumbo to an injury on a collision at third. Like Kramer she'll be back Friday night. That gave Emily “Baby” Greis a chance to shine playing both leftfield and thirdbase in the game fielding three chances flawlessly as well as rapping out 3 hits and an rbi. Eighth grader Riley Orth also entered on Trumbo's injury and recorded her first varsity hit. Erica Riedeman, Shannon Kramer, Molly Williams and Taylor Hardy also all contributed two hits each as Brossart pounded out 20 hits, a season high of Lloyd senior starter Staci Stewart. The Lady 'Stangs had 6 doubles three by Greis, two by Williams and one by Trumbo. Freshmen pitcher Karlie Shackelford scattered 6 hits over 7 innings, striking out 5 for her 5th win of the season to remain undefeated. Two of the three runs scored by Lloyd were unearned lowering her ERA on the season to 1.40. Brossart is now 3-0 in the NKAC and undefeated in District play. “I am liking a lot of what I am seeing so far this year,” says Coach Baynum. “I thought we played a great game on offense with some big key hits and were solid defensively.” In the sixth Lloyd's leadoff batter Ellen Woodward led off with a single. Samantha Elmore then hit a smash to second where senior second baseman Molly Williams made a great stop flipped it backhand to sophomore shortstop Allie Anstead who fired to first to complete the nifty 4-6-3 doubleplay. The Lady 'Stangs of Bishop Brossart rolled to another easy win in District play defeating Calvary Christian 15-0 in four innings at Pendery Park. Bishop Brossart is now a perfect 4-0 on the season and travels to Erlanger, Ky. Tomorrow to take on Lloyd Memorial in an NKAC Contest. Lloyd gave Simon Kenton a scare last week falling 2-1 to the Lady Pioneers. Junior centerfielder Tricia Kramer tied a school record with 6 stolen bases. It tied the previous record of six by the late Lindsay Sendelbach, Kramer was 2 for 2 with four runs scored and six stolen bases along with two bases on balls. Freshman pitcher Karlie Shackelford had a nice afternoon also tossing a one hittter for four innings and striking out 8 batters enroute to her second shutout. She is now 4-0 with a 1.56 ERA with 15 strikeouts coverning the 18 innings. She helped herself with the bat also. The team's number three hitter rapped a pair of doubles and drove home 6 runs to lead Brossart. Kramer, Erica Riedeman, Maria Greis, Shackelford and Taylor Hardy all had two hits for Coach Tom Baynum's team. Riedeman, like Kramer, scored 4 runs. She also reached three times on bases on balls, had a double and stole three bases. Brossart took advantage of 15 hits and seven walks by stealing 12 bases in the game. Brossart had five doubles in he contest including two by Shack, one by Riedmean, and one each by the Greis twins Maria and Emily. The Lady 'Stangs jumped on top early scoring three in the bottom of the first and adding 2 more in the second and six in the third, They finished off the game with four in the fourth to make it 15-0 and remain undefeated. Nothing to take. She's a freshmen. Miller wasn't even the varsity pitcher as a freshman. Had Shack Attack been the varsity pitcher at her previous school last year she might be Miller by now. Now, in a new environment she has a great supporting cast that like her is very young. On top of that she has gone from a jv player to the Number 3 hitter on a varsity team what was 26-6 last year. That home run that sailed over the 200 fence, over the grass, over the walking path and into the bushes was a nice added plus as well. 3-0 2.00 ERA and .600 batting average we will take.

You don't replace people. You count on every player on the team to get better and your new parts to add something. In the end you want the sum of everything to be as good or greater than the whole from last year. What you are seeing from Brossart right now is sophomores who started as freshmen last year (Kremer, Anstead, Trumbo) kicking it up a huge notch from last year. Sophomores became more complete juniors (Kramer, Riedemann, Maria Greis, Emily Greis) Two seniors (Molly Williams and Taylor Hardy) a year older and wiser. Add Shackelford and Reilly to the mix as pitchers and Erica Riedeman doing a superb job behind the plate and that cures a lot of things. Miller and Griffith might have had 100 hits last year combined but all everyone has to do it step up 10 hits a piece and youve made it up. Defensively the decision to go with those freshmen last year as starters will pay off the next three years. You make up for more balls put in play by being a top notch defensive team which Brossart is.

Jealousy. They though the big horse Miller to Bellarmine and her sidekick Griffith to Mt. St. Joseph meant time to pick on the poor little school from Alexandria. NOT:clap: There was Barrow, then Vogelpool, then Diedesheimer, then Reilly, then Miller, then Shackelford and Reilly. Some day their will be Orth, and Schoultheis, and Seiter, and more. Bishop Brossart is not only young but has some truly outstanding 7th and 8th graders.

I figured that. Salzer is tough. That should be a frog strangler tomorrow. Hope they have a tarp.
