  1. I think we are talking FOOTBALL. Heck we have state titles in other sports. But football is to me on another level.
  2. It's always teams goal to go all the way!! BUT it's human nature to be satisfied with a district or regional championship if you have never won it all. I'm sure very student in Mayfield or any other school are very happy that they have those regional and district trophys in the hallway of the schools. But teams that have had that state championship trophy feeling a few times. For them it has to be different. They only want one trophy. Those others are almost nothing to them. We all want to be champs. It's every teams goal.......... Now I doubt that Mayfield when they have won all of those regional titles were not happy. And I bet they were happy going to the state. And I bet that it gets talked about all over town what that team did and how they could have won the big one. But what ever. You can always twist things. :deadhorse: Happy and Satisfied are two different things!!
  3. Don't you think that if Mayfield had won several state titles. All or most of you that are Mayfield Cardinal fans would be saying the same thing? At that point you would not be saying things like ........whats the word .....oh yes, tradition. You would have it and using it just like they do. I know we would. :idunno:
  4. This a very good post. Any team or coaching staff would love to be in that situation. When you win that first one. Then every player coming up through the ranks thinks the same. But if you just keep getting close you always have in the back of your mind. Can we really do this. A big differance between we can and can we. It's had to get over that hump. That is why so few have done it. And when you have built that type of system. It puts pressure on the coaches, players and fans alike. Because if you don't win it all you failed. Most teams are satified with winning a district title. And some have to win the region for satisfaction. But teams like Beechwood, Boyle Co and a few others it's a failed season to say they only went to the state finals. I know last year is last year. But it's called building!! And we all will be watching.:popcorn:
  5. 333 yards or 294 yards. Thats a lot of yards for one game. And only 20 carries. Wow thats 14.7 yards a carry. Must have beed a very good line to go along with that great back. :notworthy::scared:
  6. I think that you are the school just down the road from Paris. Correct me if I'm wrong. Any way back in the 70's and 80's before the County high school was built. You couldn't beat Paris. I'm sure you know that better then me if you live around Paris. I'm sure it took away tons of talent. It has to be tough with a lot newer school right down the road from you. Paintsville is going through the same thing now with Johnson Central right down the road. Tough times
  7. Could be! Thats to bad. I remember some really good games starting back in the 70's when Boyd Co had Rob Chaney and Terry Kelin and others. And they had a very good coach in Tom Scott.
  8. :thumb: :thumb::thumb: Good luck Greenup Co.
  9. That also includes you doesn't it? It is alright if we post on here isn't it? I do see a few from cat land. We have been playing againt these kids through JFL. So we know most of them. So some of us are compelled to say what we think. I know you always say what is on you mind.
  10. What's the worry? You have. avg. 19.6 point per game the last three games. Rivaly or not Paris isn't going to score enough points to beat anyone. Lets look at Paris a minute: Scored 6 points the last 3 games. =2.0ppg. Paris has scored 28 points the last five games. =5.6ppg The have scored only 62 points all season. That is next to last in 1A. Paris has only scored in double figures in 3 games. Paris has only scored more then 20 points one time this year. (22 vs Fairview) If Burbon Co scores 19 points this game they have a 97% chance of winning the game. Paris defense gives up right 40.0 ppg. BURBON CO 21 PARIS-------6 You may not be all that good this year. But you ain't that bad.
  11. We hope you recover from this very soon. Best wishes from all of here in Raceland.
  12. I'm sorry for that. It was LCA beat Hazard in Nov. 49-7. And then LCA turned around and got beat by Hazard in DEC. I think the score was 28-21. A big big turnaround. I do understand what you were trying to type. I have that effect on people sometimes!! And I hope people understand what I was trying to convey on that post.
  13. :thumb: :thumb::thumb: I wouldn't ever say I told you so. I do think Mayfield has just as good a chance to win it all as any other team. Four things need to happen for a team to win it all. 1. Luck 2. Good health 3. Team speed 4. Great coaching. Sounds like you have 3 and 4 already! There is always a chance a lower seed team could make it to the title game. Ask LCA. In Nov. last year LCA beat Pikeville by 42 points. In the reg. final game LCA lost to the same team, And Pikeville went to the finals. So thats where luck and health comes in. The LCA coach said they were so beat up from the game before they just couldn't compete. So WE never know till the last whistle blows. Good luck to all teams in the playoffs. From Raceland to Fulton County. From Covington to Middlesboro and Ft Campbell. Good luck in the playoffs from all corners of the state. A lot of years I believe the best team doesn't win it all. You must be good and lucky.
  14. Went to the practice today. I've been to a lot of them this year. This is the first time that when we were on our way home I said. Looked like everybody was hustling and playing hard. And at the same time everyone was loose and having a good time. Is that possible? The coaches seemed happy.
  15. We lucked out. Our by week is this week. Rain or shine though the boy's and I will be going to a game.
  16. spindoc, I have been on here only 14 months. And I have never read the things I hear from a hand full of fans from the western part of the state. Not from the Ashland area, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Belfry, Pikeville anywhere. It must have happened before my time on BGP. But if you post something like that to try and get people to say things you will get what you ask for. But to come out and just blame BGP as being bias on any thread it just doesn't happen over here. I think it's totally wrong. I don't think it happens. M.O. of course.
  17. The Scribe you are asking for trouble. Great info though! That said, I till think Mayfield, Murray and Ft Campbell are having a great year. And for that they have earned my respect. Just some want to cry. And think they might in some round about way get it. But most of the time that tactic backfires and goes against you.
  18. And that is what it is all about.:thumb:
  19. Spindoc if you say it's so then I believe you. No need to research. Your word is gold.
  20. Show me on BGP any post about all the crying about no respect because we live in the east. Show me the post from what you call the mountain boys. Now I think you are getting a little carried away on the Beechwood thing. You act a little upset. Whats up with you. :idunno: And on the last sent.. That is your opinion right. Just like you told me acouple weeks ago. We all have opinions. And thats why we are on this site. Isn't that what you said? So why so upset?
  21. Now thats why you are The Voice of Reason :thumb::thumb:
