  1. I feel like the Cards will come out in this one wanting to play a little better than last week! Fulton County is clearly better, but I just don't think they can compete with the Cards. If Mayfield scores early they may do it often! Mayfield one issue is stopping the speedster, which I don't think Fulton Co has any game breakers. Mayfield-50 Fulton Co.-13
  2. We would love to have you come see the Cards, Theoldguy...Fulton might give the Cards a game for a while, but the Cards should roll in this one! As for Fulton City, the Bulldogs are much improved and do have a chance to finish 2nd in the district, but I just don't see anyone beating the Cards in this district...according to various ratings when Mayfield and Fulton City clash the Cards will be about a 39 pt favorite as well as for tonights game vs Fulton County. The Cards are favored by 37 or so against Murray and a whopping 47 points against Ballard Memorial. It is nice to see the Fulton's doing well for a change recently! Strength of Schedule in Class A District 1: Mayfield plays the 3rd toughest schedule in Class A Murray plays the 17th toughest Ballard Memorial plays the 38th hardest Fulton County 39th hardest Fulton City 51st hardest out of 51 teams...
  3. Good defensive battle...definitely not the atmosphere and intensity that Friday night has. Neither team executed well. I've never seen a QB like PT's Jones who would either pass it or duck his head and run up the middle before he hit the line. One track mind it seemed! Shelton injured his finger on his throwing hand that wasn't revealed til after the game. Mayfield is a much better team than this game showed. Coach Thomas of PT completely changed his "D" line and now consists of players all about 5'11 195that were quick and got lots of pressure on the Mayfield backfield. VERY ???BLE OFFICIATING ON BOTH ENDS...really didn't let the kids play that much. Good win for Mayfield, but Tilghman will be ok, lots of youth out there. Mayfield has an easy road with the exception of looking past Fulton Co or Fulton City that might make for a closer game than some expect!
  4. Mayfield and parts of Graves County...received almost 11 inches of rain from 5am Friday to 4 pm Saturday. Insane amount of flooding and strong winds in Mayfield and Paducah! War Memorial drains well and sunny and 67 like it is today is PERFECT! :thumb: Routen and Leahy are a great broadcast team!
  5. I would try to clarify but it gives me a headache!!! :creepy:  I'll take Mayfield, Danville, Beechwood, and Lynn Camp in the final four!
  6. The latest weather forecast is calling for brief strong storms with lightning to pass through between 5pm-11pm. Also, the wind gusts for Mayfield tonight look to be around 15-30 mpd at gametime. Mayfield's field drains very well and could be ok if the rain lets up by lunch. Turnovers and field position will be even more pivotal it looks!
  7. I agree with all the above posts...I think this simply comes down to if Mayfield can get some pressure on Tilghman's QB while also not allowing the Tilghman backs to get to and turn the corner. I like Mayfield in this one with the difference coming through on special teams! Chance of rain Friday could make for a slower surface also which favors the Cards!!! Mayfield-24 Tilghman-13
  8. Mayfield had 440 yds in the first half...That is good no matter who you are playing! I love watching these Cards...no attitudes or quit!!! The only thing I am puzzled by is why aren't we getting any pressure on the QB? I think we have one sack for the year, that is not a Coach Lawson "D" typically... Caleb Grasicia is turning out to be a nice end for the Cardinals....I concure that Heath and Trevarthen make the Cards even better! Union Co back #23 had some jets on him though, should be a doozey this weekend against PTHS!
  9. I too will miss this one, should be a good one, but I guess a vacation to Mexico is better in some circles!!! GO CARDS...lots of excitement for this game it seems!
  10. I think this will be a game of who comes out the least flat... Both teams are coming off huge wins! Both will be most likely over-amped up! I see this game being close as I think Mayfield's "D" will hold Graves running game in check. A game of ball control and field position. I also see Graves getting after Mayfield QB Shelton. Shelton will have to dump it off to his back and ends to be successful. Again, I see the kicking game as being the big difference and I'll take the Cards in a close one! That is great news about Heath, and letting Heathcott slide into that slot and play as the schedule weakens could help him mature into a great backup OL! Mayfield-24 Graves County-20 :ylsuper: :thumb:

  12. Man, what a game...hats off to Hoptown, they are a class act! I had a feeling about this game and really think that this Mayfield team has the fight and heart to do special things! I don't remember a game where Mayfield converted so many 3rd & longs, and two 4th downs in a astounding effort to pull out the game! McNutt at K and Aaron Williams at P are huge weapons to have! On Landon Heath, it is a serious knee injury most likely an ACL...MRI today I believe, hate to see that and our thoughts are with him and his family!
  13. Tyrese Murrell is going to be very special RB for the Cards, a great kid and good attitude from what I hear! Also, it will be interesting to see if star Punter and Safety Aaron Williams is healthy, he left the game last week with a knee injury, hyperextension I believe!
  14. Man, I am loving Mayfield's heart they have showed the last two weeks! I too see this one being close, whichever team wins the field position battle and doesn't turn the ball over wins! If ET is not healthy for Hoptown that could matter, although Mayfield just got tired and couldn't stop Marshall's stud back in the end...Cooler weather should help Mayfield depth wise...Someone please pack some bananas to have a War Memorial to stop that cramping!!! I'll take Mayfield is a mild shocker... Cards-28 Tigers-22
  15. PT and Mayfield should add some hardware over the next decade in this system! I see whoever wins of Mayfield, Beechwood, and Lou Holy Cross to win most years! PT Coach Perry Thomas was like a little kid in a candy store last night on the news at the thought of their new playoff road!
  16. No, doubt that McNutt of Mayfield is an awesome high school kicker, but has anyone ever noticed he doesn't kick extra points and field goals the same! The pass he makes is totally different. His extra points are solid and usually go 30 yards past the goalposts. However his field goals are off center and wobbly, just an observation. Guess it's a confidence thing! He kicks it better than I ever could!
  17. Paducah Tilghman's side of the state is crazy...they might set the longest win streak with that district slate! Made out like bandits doesn't even describe it! I don't like Class A, as Snakesnot said totally watered down! It will be Mayfield, Beechwood, and Holy Cross every year vs a weaker opponent! It kinda kills homefield advantage...surely they won't make Mayfield or Beechwood travel to each other some 6 hours away!
  18. I think this is going to be a really good game in West KY Friday night at War Memorial. A few thoughts about this one... 1. McNutt kicked all kickoffs in the endzone last week, big advantage against the speedsters of Marshall ala Williams 2. Coach Lawson of Mayfield, will have something to key and contain Williams while also getting some pressure on Barga at QB 3. Mayfield's lack of depth may be the reason Marshall pulls it out in the end! 40 varsity players versus 55 big difference in 90 degree weather such as what's predicted for Friday! 4. Turnovers will be prime opportunity for the other team to turn the momentum...as both "D's" are very good! A fluke play may also determine the outcome of this one! I'll take with the Cards in a mild upset, last week it was a pleasure talking with the Marshall fans during the bowl game, Lawson has done a good job in Draffenville! Should be a good crowd Friday night! Mayfield-19 Marshall-14
  19. Yeah, Marshall is going to be alot better, but has Frosh QB, I think they turned the ball over like 5 times against Daviess. I see this game being a good one! Good first week for Mayfield, technically a shutout, they were lagging and trying to get to halftime when Caldwell's TD took place under 20 seconds to go in the half!
  20. Man, if teams like Milan, TN and Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic come on board for this bowl game, it could be a big time event! I too will miss the Danville fans...
  21. I wonder what factor the heat will play in this one...they are saying heat index will be about 95-100 at kickoff! With Mayfield's lack of depth this could pose a problem, but I believe if Mayfield's "D" play like it showed it can in the two scrimmages and with the advantage on special teams...Cards win... Mayfield-27 Caldwell Co-7
  22. It was diagnosed as a broken wrist, pretty ugly from what I'm hearing...surgery is prolly going to happen soon. Early signs say he's out for 8-10 weeks! Big blow to the Cards before a real snap!!!
  23. I heard McNutt of Mayfield won the main contest at a collegiate kicking camp this summer, booming a field goal of some 54 yards!
  24. Seems like a school with 6 coaches in 4 years, some flags would be raised with parent's and site based councils in Fulton Co. At some point, it would become apparent that it was not the coaches nor the kids causing the issues...
  25. McKeel at Calloway and Elam are both excellent young coaches. Would be a great hire for them! Fulton Co, is a mess...I know several teachers and administators who have bolted out the door for other jobs. It's not the kids but the super and BOD from what I hear. What does it say when you cut the football coach who played and bled for Fulton county and instilled pride in the program last fall...you got me???
